Cochran’s confessional is even more enlightening after seeing Brandon in Caramoan.
And after seeing Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, when I first watched South Pacific in High School I didn’t know much about the Manson family
It’s like, if Coach wasn’t on the same tribe as Brandon, what would happen?
@@vaporterra great movie
@@THEDisneyNerd which one

This confessional from Erinn is heartbreaking. :'(
Raph It’s a shame they haven’t brought her back. Erinn and Taj were the stars of Tocantins.
A.J Deets In terms of characters, I think Tocantins had one of the most dynamic final 4s in the whole show. All of them were excellent characters and people.
TheMurrmursonbottle I found JT pretty boring tbh and I prefer his other appearances showing how overrated he is as a player lol. Stephen, Erinn, and Taj are great though, I just find Tocantins an incredibly dull season.
Tammy’s speech to V and Neleah is a prime example of why I hated a lot of angry jurors in the first 8 seasons. Their bitterness boils down to “ I called dibs and you didn’t honor my dibs so you have no integrity.”
Tammy was a moron who didn't GET the game.
agreed she just rode john's coattails and was mad the rotu 4 got outsmarted
this comment deserves more likes. Tammy legit does not know how the game is played.
I like the speech but u guys r right they are so entitled and arogant like its a game get over it u lost fair n square ugg
To be fair Jeff made them redo the whole jury questioning because he thought they weren't mean enough, so Tammy was definitely playing it up.
Wow. Very well said by those ladies. I can’t believe I never noticed the negativity associated with “female alliances” and all female final 3 vs men’s alliances (not even called “men’s alliances” just plain old “alliances”)
their speeches were awesome but Jamal was right about a women alliance
Kelly wasn’t right tho. There have been women alliances in almost every season. Jamal wasn’t wrong for thinking it
@@mariachase2384 there are men alliances too and no one fears rhem
It’s perfectly normal to identify with your gender and bond with other people of the same gender. It was a good point but I feel like strayed from truth
give me a break. it's a game based on majority rule and gender tribalism is obviously a quick and easy way to connect with people, male or female. to break out some rehearsed speech about 'arbitrary gender division' is just nonsense and in fact just further reinforces negative stereotypes about women
"But you got greedy and decided that the jury wasn't good enough." NO SHIT.
I found the women’s alliance debate in tribal council very enlightening. So many people fear women’s alliances but they don’t happen that often. Men’s alliances happen almost the exact same as women’s alliances. After that, I’m rooting for Janet, Kelley and Elaine.
I also really relate to Coby, I wanted to quit school but my mother made me stay there.
Harry Healey I love Elizabeth too
TheKyoshiFan I like Elizabeth and Missy but I respect how Janet wasn’t desperate to play and knew the calculated risks involved. And Kelley and Elaine have been kind of dark horses as they made moves when nobody really thought they would. I mean everyone thought Elaine couldn’t find an advantage or idol but she was rather crafty.
Harry Healey true! I just feel as though Missy will be gone soonish, but hope I’m wrong!
TheKyoshiFan I do feel like Missy and Aaron are big targets since the merge will happen next episode. That probably means Karishma will go far since she’s not a threat in the physical game.
I am curious about whether the Lairo women’s alliance will join with the Vokai women. It could happen but I don’t think the Vokai women are interested in a women’s alliance.
Harry Healey they made that abundantly clear in the tribal council
Last week. But I don’t think they’re opposed to that if it happens organically.
Wow, that moment between Nay and Chase was powerful and touching, damn
Honestly we need a best of Janet. Not just the confessionals, Id want that scene of her sleeping alone as an outcast included
i shouldn’t have laughed the way i did when he said “i don’t wanna be Sharon Tate in this scenario”
I am loving these videos so much
I’m glad Jamal was willing to listen and corrected his behaviour
This sjw feminist bullshit has no place in survivor
Jamal wasn't wrong, there have been many all Women's alliances that have run survivor seasons and not a single all Men's equivalent in the history of the entire show.
Island of The Idols as a whole between Jamal Kellee Karishma Missy and Dan was hard to not have the issues of something like this come up, but in Survivor there have been those alliances so Jamal was right in that there could have been something like that, Janet and Kellee had points on humanity in the *real* world, but in survivor there have been alliances based on literally one commonality between people so i think Jamals nerves about the alliance are okay in regard to the show and its past
@@CbabyDavy5703 then you rewind 13 seasons ago Sarah called Kass a b*tch, a disgrace to her kids, an idiot. Kass said that if she was a boy, everyone would be appreciating her game. But because she is a woman, people call her a b*tch. Then Sarah decides to talk about gender bias and how woman aren't being respected by playing how they should be and totally forgot about herself saying the things about Kass. Oh the irony.
@@CbabyDavy5703 OH THE IRONY
Island of the idols is filled to the brim with sociocultural moments. even if you remove the dan situation, it still touches a lot on so many things. It makes it a bit hard to watch sometimes but also so complex and truly reflective of our society
Jeff low key said “seismic cultural shift in the way we view gender” word for word in two different episodes. Bruh
Sis got a script I swear!
Jeff is as progressive as the sky is brown
Gotta get those buzz words/phrases down!
I love Erinn. Really wish she would come back.
Her and Sierra from tocantins… would love to see them both back
It’s a little strange that they did those prayers every day when I assume not everyone on the tribe was religious. Not to be like this but...it feels a little cult like?
Seraphina Edan true but I assume all the non religious people on the tribe knew their best way to stay in the game was to go along with it, if they had done otherwise Brandon and coach would’ve lost their shit
Ryan Kessler oh for sure, you wouldn’t want to make waves
@@ryankessler2986 Sophie definitely went along with it just for game reasons, because she later said that she didn't believe any of that. Brandon I'll give more of a pass to than Coach, because it's obvious a lot of that was manipulation on Coach's end, while with Brandon, I got the sense that his beliefs were more genuine and not just him using his faith for gameplay
I didn't like how they put the 'awkward' music behind her clearly praying and speaking in tongues, even if you aren't christian you don't have to edit it that way
Honestly
Right
Hmm hmm even though it was a bit funny tho
I think it was just in the fact that in survivor it’s viewed as alienating… the awkward music was more because of how she was being perceived. I’m religious but I would’ve side eyed her if she prayed that heavily for the sun coming up. Survivor is about staying conscience about how you’re viewed socially
Well they were just adding to Denise’s point of view
Everyone’s face while that one girl was praying on the beach was HILARIOUS. This is coming from a Christian btw😂😂
Given the way Brandon Hantz turned out Cochran wasn't wrong.
Anyone who is too obsessed with religion or god covers something up with their belief....
That Christian girl was complaining so bad about being alone when there were people around her trying to support her and she just shut them out. I guess she missed the lesson on community in seminary school.
I feel like Kellie and Janet from S39 would be great on a Heroes Vs Villains , on the hero’s tribe
Karishma was totally saying things that were the exact opposite of Janet’s point lmao
Does anybody have more insight into Roxy's situation? Like what denomination she was, whether she was speaking in tongues or if that was an actual language, and what position she was trying to attain after completing seminary (e.g., pastor, deacon, priestess, etc.)?
I don't really remember this season all that well. But I can tell you this is speaking in tongues. We as Pentecostal Christians believe in speaking in tongues. But it's technically not "us" speaking. By that I mean we aren't actively thinking of what to say, it's God speaking trough us. A person can speak in tongues during worship or speaking to God when they feel the Holy Ghost. Or God can give someone and utterance (aka speaking in tongues) and then an interpretation (the message God is trying to give). Not everyone who speaks in tongues sounds the same but if you listen enough you can start to hear some words or sounds that sound similar from person to person. I hope this answered part of your question and if you have any other questions about speaking in tongues I would be more than happy to answer! :)
Awww Coby 😭 I wish he would've played again.. I loved him. And Janu.
Jamal really put his foot in his mouth on this one lol
That last guys story almost made me cryyy
First season Tyson in those tiny shorts and nothing else...I'm still drooling
Could I make a video request of Matty Whitmore highlights?
I remember watching this show as a kid him being one of my favorite players in the game
The rainbow story was so emotional. He was truly trying to help her.
So.......I think you could make another sociocultural part with just tonight’s episode. I.........don’t quite know what to say.
I love how the Asian girl is preaching all lives matter from her position with the numbers
7:58 honestly I'm Christian but I feel the same way.
2:08 Me when I find out that somebody ate my Reeses Cups
Lmaoooo the dud said he was surprised the girl was praying didnt have more strength and character lolol da heck
the heart was in the right place with the women’s alliance thing but the head might have got a little carried away. it’s not unreasonable at all for people of the same gender to team up, we see it happen time and time again. most importantly, women’s alliances have done much better in survivor than men’s alliances
j.p. Heck, I’m a woman and my eyes about rolled out of my sockets when she just kept going and going and going.
What annoys me the most is that literally in that same episode Kellee and Noura were literally tryna rally the women together to form a women's alliance so the whole convo seems insanely hypocritical
While I agree, the assumption that an alliance by gender is a 100% possibility is incredibly stupid, I don't see people bringing up the fact that there's more fear for a women's alliance namely because there's a notorious SUCCESSFUL women's alliance, namely the Black Widow Brigade that most people know and remember. Especially this late into Survivor's runtime where superfans are dime a dozen. It feels more like they jumped straight to the political implications and didn't think about the fact that they were just more well known.
I don't want to start an argument or piss anyone off, but I don't know if I totally agree with the "women's alliance" discussion. It's a simple option that needs to be considered..? And I'm pretty sure people have made references to some form of "men's alliances" or "all men's alliances" etc. throughout the show. We've had players talk about having all-men final 3s. As a woman myself, I'm just honestly not seeing what is "offensive" in a player simply considering the idea that maybe the female players banded together bc they have the numbers. It's happened on this show. Many times. Like the guy was making a very rational observation and it turned into him being sexist.
GODDAMN I LOVE KELLEE!!!!!!!!!!! Literally my fav player in existence. She’s just so well spoken and brilliant. Adore her.
She's great
2:46 It's interesting coz i don't remember any infamous men alliance in survivor history. Only what i can think of was Boran boys alliance all way back in Survivor Africa. And only time when there were 3 men in final 3 was in Nicaragua (but they weren't even allies, if Fabio didn't had immunity Sash and Chase would take Holly to the end)
it always infuriates me watching Tammy’s jury speech. You offered her a spot on the jury? Girl she wanted more than that
Okay but that Karishma rolled R though????
The whole Jamal Kellee situation as some good aspects of it but is rlly not that deep though Jamal was just naturally thinking the four girls might dominate the tribe, he never said they were dumb and he has every right to believe it could happen, nothing sexist at all in this situation this world getting soft
Island of the Idols would’ve been so good if Dan wasn’t on the cast smh
Tammy's speech at 8:20 still annoys the HELL out of me especially because Tammy was just bitter about getting voted out when she thought she would be in final four! Like it really seemed to me that she was the one with a holier-than-thou attitude, and I wish that Vecepia or Neleh would have called her out on it (although I guess that would have lost one of them her vote)
Neleh would lost more votes (she was already in trouble for her FTC performance.)
Season 39 has to be the most social awakening season. Racism, sexism, sexual harassment!
The season is just gross and I don't like most of the players this season seeing as most of them don't care for any of the other people in the same game.
Have there been any all men's alliances?
@@tygggyy7490 I've only found one. Can you list the others that were successful?
mop There really wasn’t any. The alliances that are made in game almost always consist of both men and women. In fact, there have been more all women alliances in the game’s history than all men alliances (Yasur Women’s Alliance, Black Widow Brigade, Kim’s One World Alliance just to name a few) Jamal was very right to be concerned about a women’s alliance because they’ve been more prevalent in the series than All Men’s alliances have. Kellee had no idea what she was talking about
@@SonicGlitchmaster1 yep that's my thought too. Just wanted to be polite :)
mop You’re a better person than I. Willful ignorance drives insane lol
All men alliances that I can think of: Lex, Tom and Ethan (Africa), Four Horsemen (Fiji), Three Amigos (Caramoan), Keith, Wes, Alec, Reed, Josh (BvW2), Cambodia had a few voting blocks of all men (Savage, Jeremy, Joe - Fishbach, Spencer, Jeremy).
I love Janet.
I was thinking they had a point regarding women's alliances but then I switched my mind from other arguments where firstly only 1 final 3 had males (s21), meanwhile there have been at least 3 final 3 all women (s4, s16,s24). Men's alliances have existed ofcourse, usually pre merge and are destroyed by swap time. Ironically the problem is that it is marketed that a women's alliance is an accomplishemnt which is demeaning to the women, as if they shouldnt be capable to do one. What is dumb however is to have an aliance with literally all the females (exception s24 women's tribe), which has been tried before and always fails. Whereas when you happen to select only 1 gender, or exclude other threats who happen to be of a specific gender that is totally fine and will work better for you in the long run.
Actually, there's been 4 all male finales, because you forget seasons 5, 18, and 28
@@NYChica23 indeed.... When u include f2s... I said only F3s. S18 and 28 were surprise f2s too so a female intended to get to the end.
But if u wanna add it... S7 and s11 was an all female final 2 as well :p
@@gabrielcamilleri1193 Season 18 was a planned final 2, actually, so can't use the argument that Erinn was intended to get to the end
Now I am a guy, but the threat of an all girls alliance isnt sexist, and makes alot of sense, while 2 of them were made because thats how the tribes were split, Vanuatu and One World, we also had the Black Widow Brigade, theres probably more I don't know of, but those alliances also had the goal of voting off every man, tho in Vanuatu Chris Daughtry managed to survive by bsing his way out of being the target, and got 3 immunity wins to end the game, and turned the women against Scout at finally tribal when a bunch of them admitted they were voting for Scout just to have a female winner, but voted for Chris because of his Ftc performance, and in the other side of the coin, we've had some all male alliances, but they never had the goal of voting out all the females, unless you also count the male tribes from the seasons I mentioned, not to mention theres alot of smaller 2 to 3 person groups of males, but those alliances aren't formed because they want to vote out females, but usually it's because they were always on tribes together, they all got along, or they wanted the other guys around as shields
I hated Naonka but loved her as a villain, although I hated that she quit.
I've heard people swear that she would have had a very good chance at winning if she just stuck it out, but since she quit and they gave her a terrible edit, we the audience would have never known better.
@@Mentally_Will yeah; I think she had a pretty good chance
Metoo in survivor I see why I don’t see those seasons streaming for free jeez 🤢
6:18
As much as I agree with Kellee, I also agree with Jamal. I've notice throughout life that woman are quicker to advocate for other woman then they would to men. If a man said to a woman "your best friend is talking bad about you", she would be more likely to not believe what he says as women side with women more.
As men we dont even side with eachother as quick as woman would side with eachother. Which is why the whole "bros before hoes" thing is kind of a myth. Most of the time we dont take the side of fellow men very often.
That feminist lady was talking out of her ass. There has never been a successful men's alliance in Survivor. The only male Final 3 was in Nicaragua and that happened by chance.
Do the all male final 2s of Thailand, Tocantins, and Cagayan suddenly not exist?
@@NYChica23 they don't because it's a man talking and he doesn't know what he's talking about🙄
@@NYChica23 No, here’s why in my opinion:
Thailand: Helen and Jan were all part of Brian’s alliance, he just chose to go with Clay instead because he would be guaranteed the win.
Tocantins: If JT loses immunity at F4 or F3, like he nearly did to Erinn, we almost certainly see a F3 between Fishbach and Erinn, with Taj in that Top 3. The Jalapao 3 did not exclusively consist of men and Erinn joined the group, making it 2-2 in terms of gender.
Cagayan - Trish and Tony were the closest pair out here and Kass also made it to the Top 3. This season didn’t have a F2 with a man and a woman because Woo made a boneheaded move and voted out Kass.
Meanwhile, Women’s Alliances have all but devoured the men in both Micronesia and ESPECIALLY One World. The only pseudo-male only alliance was Rob C in Amazon but then again he’s just ping-ponging around the cast, unfortunately being 10 years too early for Tony to pull that off successfully.
In my opinion idk how the Female alliance was sexist in any way
I love Kelley
wow cant believe they aired part 12 was 2 whole hours long and they aired it on tv before you even uploaded it. Fr tho what a sociocultural shitshow last night was.
lol Kellee kim needed to back off Jamal was totally correct to fear that

Female alliances scary asf no cap idc 😭😭
