@TalorcMcAllanthat's amazing!!!😮🙏💜 I'm genuinely jealous. I bet seeing them live back in the day was a religious experience...I cry just listening to recordings. Lol I bet you have some amazing stories and judging by your musical taste you must be a cool person. I hope life is treating you well!
I first overheard this whilst staying at a friend’s in Bradford in 1984. Hungover in the morning and heard from somewhere else in the house, I thought This is the music I’ve been waiting for all my life. And so it’s turned out to be. When all of us listening to this are dead, CT music will carry on and still have relevance. It’s pretty special.
That’s great news! I first heard them 40 years ago on John Peel’s radio show during a snowy drive home at night. Listen to “Wax and Wane” from their Garlands album and you can imagine how it felt.
@@markjackson5665 That sounds so dreamy! I have been listening to all their music nonstop haha. So glad that we have this music, love driving to it also. It snowed where I'm at recenty and I was listening to the Victorialand album. Great stuff!
I thought I had seen every TV performance they had ever done, so this is a real treat! It's a shame they're miming, and Liz has decided she's not gonna mime every single part of the song, but it's so wonderful to see. They will always be my favourite band, no other has come close.
While I was graduating H.S. w/ teens in thrall to Thriller, Quiet Riot, and Van Halen (in the US) *this* band in particular was reinventing paradise’s soundtrack. I never looked back.
i was 16 ( now 39) working at applebees of all places and one of my old coworker got me into this band he knew i was punk emo kid that loved the smiths and knew i would like this he was wrong i love it
Daniel, fifty years old here and I got right into the Cocteau Twins in the mid-1980s. Weirdly enough, I listened to a lot of metal as well (Slayer, Metallica, Anthrax, Maiden etc.) but was obsessed with British Alt music. CT being one of my all time favorites as well as early Dead Can Dance. Lisa Gerard has a voice that rivals Fraser's in it's beauty. Two of my favorite, all time female vocalists! 🤘🏻
@@spensert4933 I seen them live in the marquee soho London 1985 , was mesmerised, then found out liz was Scottish , love her vocals , simply the best , great collaboration on massive attacks Teardrop !! Go listen Top tune !
As you may have noticed, Frazier was lip syncing to the studio recording. That's the requirement for many of these TV shows. She didn't play along for parts of it.
Firstly, Ive been drawn into this tune tonight from the radio earlier. I was one when this came out 🤣 atleast a year before this I still had my wings or so I seem to firmly believe I wonder how rare that is people who are so extremely sure and make no compromise about them being angels before they ended up here like I did. I don't want to sound ironic or sound like a dreamer I just feel it all the time I always feel it I would bet you that I'm right but of course it's obvious that I would given that you already know that about me.
I've no idea of the source for this clip and the Pearly... that accompanies it - somehow in all these years I've never seen them before - but they rival the Whistle Test & Amsterdam '83 clips as the most wonderful Cocteau Twins footage in existence.
I remember this being aired on Swedish tv to promote a 4AD night live gig in Stockholm. Also present and performed on the tv show were Modern English, Xmal Deutschland and Dead Can Dance. Sadly, all the band's performance were mimed.

Cocteau twins have stopped me from suicide... they are my spiritual angels.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
we're glad you're still here
💕💕💕💕
so glad that you're still here. enjoy life. music is therapy ❤
Liz Fraser's voice is so grounding and cathartic. One of the best bands to ever exist. I swear🖤
Tis a very great song

When you have one of the best voices ever, and you make her go playback
It’s 2023 and this music is still mesmerizing.
You've never ever been as high as Robin Guthrie.
Literally why they split up innit
I have but didn't come up with anything close to this...
I nearly died trying.
This song is about a horse who died.
Oh, I don't know about that. 🤔😏
37 years on and it remains as mesmerizing as the first time my ears heard the Cocteau Twins.
Wonderful & Timeless.

I could listen to her voice forever
me too
Elizabeth Fraser is a national treasure
Hopefully Scotland will be independent soon and she will be one of her national treasures
Probably the clearest closeup of ELizabeth singing out there. Wow!
Look for live video of Wax and Wane !
You mean "singing"
Mortal Coil - Song to the Siren
she's insane i love it
I can't help but love her "beat myself with my fists" dance style... that's the real folk blues right there
Sugar hiccup on Cheerios
SUGAH HOOKERRRRRRAHHH

Everything about their music and artistry is just so captivating! So so lucky to have found them, definitely my new favorite band.

I can replay this song forever, it feels so warm her voice is so mesmerizing
This is what an Angel looks like. 🥰
The good ole days. Hard to believe it's been 35 years. Still sounds amazing. Always will..
I love her restrained anger.... you can just FEEL IT in this "performance'.
You mean pissed because they made her lip sync? Probably. Notice she didn't bother half the time.
@@klocke5247 Probably. 😉
Yes, she is not pleasing the audience.

This is my favourite song on the masterpiece that is still "Head Over Heels".

how was life back then
My favorite song in 80,s ❤❤
I don't know what made my heart melt faster, Liz's eyes or her voice.
Liz and Robin are to me the epitome of artistic genius. Grateful to appreciate them in this life.
This was my intro to the Cocteau's back in 84...still sounds magnificent
I love this song with all my heart
Eternal music keep on shining.
This is part of 60th birthday weekend of music 🎶🎵🎸🥁🎧🎂

Jack B Agreed!
Yup
So could I!

Elizabeth's vocal melodies are clearly what makes the Cocteau Twins great.
And the bass guitar 🎸
I would love to hear the actual audio from this performance, and not just the studio recording :/
There's no audio as the guitars are not even plugged in.
I love the way Liz sabotages the lip synch. Sweet and strong
Yes, yes... A strong, independent woman. "Sabotaging" and everything. What a worn out, dystopian cliche. 😴 Great song, though.
Why are they perfect
How can you not love her?
I saw them live twice, 1986 and 1993. I still hope to see them once again together before to pass away.
Me too 86, just so amazing live.
Looks wonderful. Great job again.
