  • Fibular nerve hydrodissection with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a safe non-surgical treatment for foot drop and neuropathy. The hydrodissection frees up the compressed nerve while the PRP provides nerve growth factors. This stimulates nerve healing and improves nerve function. This procedure is performed by Dr. Sebastian, a Regenerative Medicine, Neuropathy specialist in Estero, Fort Myers, Bonita Springs (southwest Florida).

    Hello Dr. Klisiewicz,
    I suffer from foot pain, in the plantar area. According to the symptoms it looks like to be medial Plantar Neuropraxia (Jogger's foot neuralgia).
    Is this procedure can be used to decompress or hydro dissect the medial Plantar nerve around the Knot of Henry ?
    Thank you

      we can use nerve hydrdissection to treat foot pain from medial plantar nerve compression. It may take a few treatments for best results. You may also benefit from therapy to strengthen the intrinsic foot muscles, correct any arch abnormalities.

      @@sebastianklisiewiczintegra9805 Thank you for the reply. This plantar pains appears randomly after long walks or standing for long time on both feet. Underwent all tests: USG, X-ray, MRI, and came out OK, no damage, no heel spurs. Only the EMG test showed minor axonal damage to the medial plantar nerve. Orthopaedists conservative treatments including physiotherapy and shockwaves didn't help much. It looks like this nerve gets irritated or compressed somehow.
      I will follow your advice. Thank you again

      @sebastianklisiewiczintegra9805  18 днів тому

      the fibular nerve can be injured with any knee surgery, such as a total knee replacement. Nerve hydrdissection with PRP can be a safe and effective treatment for fibular nerve injury and foot drop. This is really interesting I had something drop on my foot and wanted a prp injection for the nerve since it never fully healed , I knew I wanted the injection done right away. But I worried injecting into a nerve would be too painful since prp hurts (Iv had prp multiple times for other issues)
    So around the nerve also works huh? Now is that necessary if the nerve is just compressed? Wouldn’t freeing it be enough? Also since prp is an irritant does that mean the nerve will be painful for a while after the injections and needs a typical prp healing time?
    And do you check to see if the pain don’t nerve entrapment? Can you also see if it’s a disc issue causing nerve pains? My X-ray didn’t show disc issues but I did have them show up on mri . This is unrelated but I do question discs in other areas of my spine causing these issues for my leg.

      Nerve hydrodissection with PRP (and some dextrose) is very effective in treating neuropathy and foot drop. Once the PRP is injected, the platelets release growth factors (such as nerve growth factors) that will stimulate nerve regeneration. When done by a neuropathy/regenerative medicine expert with ultrasound guidance, this is safe and effective.

      Nerve hydrodissection is a very effective treatment for ulnar neuropathy at the elbow (cubital tunnel) and at the wrist (guyons canal). It may take several treatments for best results, this is an alternative to surgery but it can also be used after surgery if you did not get adequate relief. Nerve hydrodissection is a great treatment for any peripheral nerve injuries such as foot drop from fibular nerve compression, radiculopathy (sciatica) or radial nerve palsy. It is not effective for weakness from brain i injury unless there is a co-exiting nerve compression.

      @@41capable A good physical exam, strength testing, reflex testing, and a nerve study would tell us the source of your foot drop (if there is any nerve damage in the extremities and spine). I don't think a Brain MRI would help at this time.
