Oh man. I would love to give this treatment a shot. I have pretty much lost all control of my ankle and after have a spinal fusion this past June. My foot drop seems more pronounced. It has really did a number on my mental and my day to day life. I'm only 33 now and have already seen the struggles of not being able to lift my foot. I sure hope I can find a solution as I have had so many instances where I have tripped over my foot.

I am from a remote island in Philippines suffering foot drop for almost 7years it was happened when I running very fast and I just heard pop on my leg and fall into the ground and can't move my left foot and now I am just dragging it on the ground when I walk. Hip and femur fractures (and the surgery to fix them) are an unfortunate but common cause of sciatic nerve injury that leads to foot drop. In young healthy individuals, foot drop recovery is likely to occur, physical therapy is the main treatment. If the foot drop does not improve with PT alone, PRP injections / nerve hydrodissection around the sciatic nerve can help speed up nerve regeneration and functional recovery.

Nerve hydrodissection is a great treatment for peripheral nerve injury such as sciatica or fibular (perineal) neuropathy. It is typically not effective for central nervous system conditions such as MS (conditions affecting the brain and spinal cord).

It doesn't look like that treatment is available here in the UK. It seems like all they can do here is electrical nerve stimulation either applied topically or under the skin 🥹🥹 I would certainly prefer to try something that doesn't involve general anaesthetic at my advanced age. If the foot drop is caused by MS lesions in the brain or the spinal cord, that nerve hydrodissection will likely not help. But if there is a co-existing nerve compression in the leg (fibular, sciatic nerves), then nerve hydrodissection may be helpful.

I am having this problem I think but I litterally didn’t do anything to it. It just happened. Will it go away on its own? Does it require a x ray to diagnose? I can’t fit my foot at all the same way you couldn’t in the video.
Foot drop may appear sometimes without any injury. It can commonly come from a lumbar radiculopathy (pinched nerve in the back) or from a fibular neuropathy (nerve compression around the knee). Sometimes, more serious conditions can also present as a foot drop. You need a physical exam and maybe an EMG (nerve study) for a diagnosis, then you should get it treated.

I'm interested in whether you might be able to help my condition. I've had problems with foot drop since 2016. Peripheral neuropathy was diagnosed in 2020 with a nerve conduction test. Another neurologist, in 2020, had an MRI done. He said that my condition was probably a combination of PN and spinal disfunction. I had an L3-4 fusion with rods in 2014, but L3 through S1 is kind of a mess.
I can neither toe walk nor heel walk. I can not lift up onto the balls of my feet. There is weakness in both, but foot drop in only one.
Is your treatment covered by Medicare, or could I request an evaluation through the Veteran's Administration?

Hello Dr. 5 years ago i faced very big L4-L5 hernia pain and after that it happened in my left foot (foot drop). At first i coudnt move my left foot even 1mm but after that my foot started to work. If a healthy foot works 100%, mine is %50. But numbness in my left foot still continues. Now i can walk and i believe that it can be better. Maybe your treatment can help me. What do you think?

I suffered footdrop after kneeling in the garden to work on a flower bed. Ironically I thought I would prevent back problems by kneeling instead of bending. I had severe sciatica for three to four weeks. I felt numbness down the front of my leg and had foot slap, I could lift my foot a little but I could feel a pelvic tilt when walking. I have an MRI planned but because this happened when kneeling I think that the culprit is the fibula nerve after watching this and other videos. I am two months out from the injury now and can feel some improvement. Can the nerve repair by itself with Physio and excercises?
It may be coming from the lumbar spine given that you have a pelvic tilt (this indicates weakness of the hip abductors that are innervated by L5). The nerve may heal on its own, but it also may need some help with a PRP nerve hydrdissection and possibly a PRP epidural injection. This patient started with a lumbar radiculopathy that resolved but had a superimposed fibular nerve entrapment. Nerve hydrdissection with dextrose (and PRP) are an effective treatment for foot drop from both fibular neuropathy or lumbar radiculopathy. Fibular neuropathy is much easier to treat, lumbar radiculopathy takes longer and requires PRP injections. My father has been dealing with foot drop since 2020. He has had numerous MRI images taken head to toe without finding the root cause of it. He has had several EMG nerve studies conducted and the latest information they have given us is that the issue might be between L3 snd S1.
He is very frustrated with the lack of progress in finding the root cause and a potential treatment. We are based in Ireland but we are willing to travel to US if this is something that you can help us figure out and resolve the issue please.

I am from a remote island in Philippines suffering foot drop for almost 7years it was happened when I running very fast and I just heard pop on my leg and fall into the ground and can't move my left foot and now I am just dragging it on the ground when I walk. The video you showed is the same where the nerves on my leg is damage it is very numb going straight to my toes, the thumb, index and middle in my foot is very numb and disabled. This puts me in very bad condition I lost a lot of opportunities because of this. Is this possible to be treated? Thank you so much I'm very happy I saw this video I feel hopeful again

Had a fall in my 20s and compressed L3-5. Spent months in bed with excruciating pain and didnt notice the foot drop until I was able to walk again. Been walking with a cane for 18 years now. Nerve damage sucks.
Nerve damage can definitely change your function. May be worth while to get a nerve evaluation to see if you may get some benefit from nerve hydrodissections. We have had some successful cases with 10+ years of foot drop.
