I want to attend swap parties. Diane you really hit the jackpot with your swap party group. There is a generosity of spirit here. Wonderful caring friends who also care about our precious earth …..and want to keep things in really good condition, to be used…. “ squeezing every last bit of use out of each item” …and out of landfill. Thank you so much to you and your swap group for taking us along and enlightening us. If everyone did this the world would be in a much better state. The kindness, good food and social companionship, laughter and swap items are just what people need. I liked the idea of posting on your groups page a request (like freecycle) and that hair straightener for your daughter coming forth,……this completely takes away the scarcity mindset….that hangs onto things…
Diane your channel is the only one to watch! So entertaining and motivating. Super informative and there are a tonne of videos to work along with you. You have helped me enormously. Your YT channel is the only decluttering, simplifying your life channel that does not create huge amounts of landfill waste. Well done 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

Only been to one some years ago (and one at a DYT event). I enjoyed the items for years!- I have been trying to find one here in Salt Lake City. All of my things go to a local charity shop, but this is a better idea on so many levels. 🩷
I used to live in a small remote town years ago before internet shopping was a thing. Most goods were transported there by barge and road travel was only possible a few months of the year (a full day’s drive on dirt road before you got to the sealed highway) - for many people a trip out of town was a once a year event. Every Saturday morning people would have front yard sales to sell unwanted things - clothes, furniture and household goods - that’s how you bought things and caught up with all the town gossip and entertained the kids on a Saturday morning!
You’ve inspired me to think about hosting a swap, possibly in January when people seem to want to declutter, which gives me time to plan and put the word out 😊

I love watching your videos, you remind me of my Godmother that passed in 2010. You and her had a lot of the same colors and styles for clothes and jewelry. I've been making a second pass through my stuff and decluttering more. My stuff usually gets donated to thrift shops. If I have something I think a friend would like I will send it to them. Maybe when my life gets a bit more settled (in between homes) and I have a more permanent church (in between that too) I could start a swap meeting.
I wish i lived nearby to join your swapparties. The bring me back to memorylane when we meet with a couple or moms and young kids to chat, drink some coffee/ tea whole the kids were playing and once in the 8 weeks we had some swap parties as well. But the kids grown up and Covid destroyed our meetings. We still she each other but not on that regular basis anymore and the kids clothing swap is now some bags that are going round
You got me with the oil for your Mom's face... I did the same for my Mom. It's been almost ten years ago, a beautiful memory.

Diane, I had a swap a few years back with my friends with accessories. I had many purses (that I had kept too long), costume jewelry and scarves to swap. One of my friends brought an Hermes scarf (never worn). That was fun! I'm planning on hosting another swap soon, as I've been following your downsize declutter series and have been fabulously motivated to do the same. Cheers!

When I started following you, you said you were an introvert. Apparently that has changed. This looks like an introvert’s nightmare. I can’t imagine having that many friends, especially the same size. I like to donate. Less fuss and you actually get rid of stuff. After going to a swap, it’s very possible to end up with even more stuff. And a lot more calories 😂
