Any time! I ended up adding relays into the run, I noticed with the amount of light I had coming on, it was too much for the system at full brightness. After running a relay they are beyond bright.
@@ajphillipsjeeps I have a feeling you’re talking about using the courtesy group… If I understand that correctly, you are using the T tap to trigger the relay, and the relay is connected to a proper 12 V source and the output of that relay is connected to one of the diode inputs instead of relying on the power output of the courtesy group circuit? Do you have a link for the relay you used?
@Gator_Overland yes, on my JT the bed light is what I had already used for my other lights so I used it but in the JL since it didn't have the bed I did the T tap into the courtesy lights and it was restricted in how many amps it would let through. I actually ended up doing 2 things that I cover in another video, I use a 12 volt to 12 volt output cause the courtesy lights come on over like 5 seconds and caused issues with the relays and the 12 volt to 12volt thing stopped that. I actually just bought the 5 pack off Amazon of the small ones that can go together. I will get the other video that is a followup and the link to the relays I used.

When you turn on the interior light wouldnt that then send power to the rock lights if say you were looking for something in the cab. Thanks looking to do this on my truck
Yes and No, they are connected to the foot well lighting and the overhead lights push on and off. If you use the turn dial to turn the overhead lights on then yes. When we need the lights we just individually push on and off the ones we need.
Great video on the rock lights. I your wheels as well. What wheel width and offset did you go with? Also, your tire size please? I'm happy to see that your truck looks aggressive without the crazy poke.
Hi, this is a great explanation, I have a question I am running 4 rock lights connected directly to courtesy lights, I need to add a relay o of ok I believed that that cable is to small to support the lights, what do you think ? I news to add a relay ? Thanks in advance
Depending on what size wire the factory lights have and what rock lights you running. I would say most likely it is not large enough and a relay would greatly help. It also allows a fuse to be put in line and less strain on the factory BCM.
@@ajphillipsjeeps thanks for your prompt answer, today a teta relay normal relay and make a lot of noise when the lights turn on and turn off, what do you think about solid state relay ? Works with out a problem, regards from Mexico
@Daniel Canchola I did run into an issue with my wife's 2023 JL that did that but it did not on her old 2018. I used a 12 volt to 12 volt stabilizer. Watch this video and I go over the noise and the 12 volt stabilizer. ua-cam.com/video/nV_DE5Z2cPk/v-deo.html
Great video! Thanks. I'm about to install the very same lights but was thinking that by mounting the control box in the cargo bed (beside one the lights) and using the cargo bed light leads to power up the Lux lights, I would have them power up as courtesy lights (as the cargo bed lights normally do) AND control them from the cargo light OEM in dash switch. No need for an Auxiliary button connection, relay, or diode with that set up. Would you agree?
Yes, in some of my later videos I cover it a little further after having it a few months. I ended up putting them on a relay near the battery and running a power line from the cargo bed light to it and into a 2 in 1 out diode that is also connected to a Aux switch. The diode prevents backwards feed into the other line and the relay runs the higher amp draw better than on the factory wire. And like you mentioned, turn the truck bed light on(also entry mode) and the lights work or you can run just the rock lights also.
This is when I added the oracle side track lights and really had some fun with the wire wet up to make them work along side the others. ua-cam.com/video/5_9rQrZHUns/v-deo.html
How many volts do you have on your wire coming from the footwell? When I just hit the unlock button I have 6v until I actually open the door then it jumps up to 12v
@devonmartin9529 it ramps up on the newer ones. On my 2020 JT it was an instant 12v but on my wife's 23 JL it took a second to get to 12v. I do go over a 12 volt to 12 volt stabilizer. It might be in this video or possibly the other one where I I introduced the 2 door JL. Try this link ua-cam.com/video/nV_DE5Z2cPk/v-deo.htmlsi=e9Y6DJit7ps_ZQYD
Yes it has worked, but still running from the diode to the relay. It was a little bit of a larger amp load so the lights were not at their full potential. No issues since running the relay inline for the higher amp load. Sorry about response time, I just saw I had a missed one.
@@ajphillipsjeeps I ended up doing the same thing: seeing up a relay to the diode and it's been working great for about a month now. Thanks for the response all the same.
Yes, and I ha e in the past ran 2 relays to accomplish this, but just didn't feel like doing it before with this setup, mainly because already using Aux wiring. Many ways to accomplish it and this is just a easy one that most can do. Most people get confused going I to a si gle relay let alone 2 or even using a relay to connect a negative system.
I’m adding one rock light on each side that I want to only come on when I unlock the Jeep. Can I just tap directly into the courtesy light on each side to make that work without having to add in the diode?
If the rock light is only going to be used as an entry light and nothing else then yes. If you are wanting to do it as entry and say a switch then no, you would want a diode. Would be the same as the Oracle sidetrack were designed to be used, but I tied them in a later video.
This is a great explanation of how to utilize the diode with AUX lighting, well done. Thanks for the shout out, always happy to help.

@David Morales Bello yes it will, but due to max amp that jeep puts out, the lights only run at like 90% brightness if using all 8.

@502 Jeeps no problem, glad I could help and let me know if I can help any other way.
Niiice, is the flickering just the camera picking up the refresh rate?
Yes, the flicker is from the refresh rate, you see it in LED lights on video due to how they work.
