Naperville🫡 Small world. - I used to be nervous when Riley takes off but after visiting Purdue University on Saturday, I’ve noticed how big and strong that kid is. We have somewhat of a Lamar Jackson and I’m finally okay with it! 👏🏼 Let’s hope he gets a passing TD this Saturday @home 😅
Idc how you have to win this game win the game. At this point just win the team is highly flawed so just figure out what works from week to week and lean on the defense.
Run the ball. Run the ball? Please not Leonard unless we have to, since if he gets broken, there's another expensive toy we've ruined... If he has to scramble, then fine, but designed runs should be minimized if we can. Let the WRs and RBs do the work, and then when they get covered up its TE time. Thanks for the cast old man! Go Irish!
@cindymikolajczyk9936 lol you realize he is a quarterback? Not just a quarterback but the starting qb for nd and 3 games in he has 0 passing td. That type of performance might get us in the playoffs but will 100% definitely NOT advance us in the playoffs. I mean, that's the goal right? That's the Notre Dame standard... to compete every year to win a national championship, period. Ain't gonna to happen with Leonard... you done brought the country out of me now lol
@@cindymikolajczyk9936 also, our running game needs 0 help from our qb. Zero. We need Leonard to accurately pass the ball and give our playmakers the ball.
@@stephengernenz8217 having a running QB opens up the run game too. They gotta respect him pulling it every single time he hands the ball off. With how explosive he is on the ground, even moreso. Also last I checked, a passing TD gets the same amount of points as a rushing TD. Of course the passing game needs to improve. It's been bad. But this obsession with no passing TDs is weird.
Tyler, we have ranked Louisville next week. We cant just continue to run the ball if that's where our success is. We NEED to pressure the offense into developing the passing game regardless. If we cant develop the passing game against Miami Ohio then we def won't be able to do it next week against Louisville. It needs to happen and it needs to happen now. Id much rather win the ball game 24-21 with Leonard throwing 2 TD and 1 INT and 20-32 for 275 yards than winning 49-14 with another 0 passing TD performance from Leonard. He needs to develop his passing game before we face Louisville, FSU, USC etc. Yes, FSU is doing really bad but they have athletes and they can perform if they want to. An 0-3 FSU is still an FSU team and if NIU can beat us then lets face it, anyone on our schedule can beat us.
Of course the challenge comes from two places... 1) Would the staff consider that riskier strategy, and I think we both know that answer. 2) If you are right in your response elsewhere on this cast, in which you state, 'this is as good as he is going to develop as a passer' since we only have another 9 weeks... one would think that the only other thing to be improvable might be 'synergy' with the WR corps. The real problem I here name as #2, is that Riley himself, given a semi-porous line just has a tendency to run first anyway, and while he CAN throw on the run, the results have been less than stellar, and he and the staff are regularly rewarded when he DOESN'T throw. This is a bad risk/reward model to encourage development of passing as a significant portion of the game plan against... anyone. Not saying its a winning recipe for down the road, I am saying, it is what it is. 🙄
What does it say about the QBs ability to throw the ball when the "bold prediction" is he'll have a/his first TD pass in the 4th game of the season against Miami (OH)? Whether you are joking or not...that is comically bad and a joke in and of itself.
Another 28 point spread and a mac team yay🤦♂️come on Vegas ! GO IRISH ☘️

2 TD's running for Riley and 1 passing to MITCH EVANS. GO IRISH!!!!!!
Go UNi !!!!! Congratulations on the big win over the overrated Irish
I believe we need to not only win out to make the playoff but blow teams out on a regular basis. Irish roll 41-0.

You do realize running is why we got Leonard. I could care less whether he throws a TD as long as he can run it in ...I am good.

RL will have a hard time throwing the ball to wide open WRs. Mark my words.
Riley and passing touchdown in same sentence.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💯🍀🏉
