      The M81Woodland BDU- Battle Dress Uniform was phased out the Marine Corps in 2003 it's not better than the Woodland Marpat MCCUU - Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform it's a digitalised version of it and the Desert Combat Utility is a Digitalised version of the DCU - Desert Combat Uniform.

    • @Texasmilitarydepartmentvid9654
      @Texasmilitarydepartmentvid9654 6 років тому +2

      OCP isn't better the Army has tried to improve it like 5 times. MARPAT worked the frist time the Marine Corps put it out there. All the other branches have had to go through uniform changes just to keep up with the Marine Corps because there utilities don't blend into a damn thing . The Army ACU- Army Combat Uniform our UCP - Universal Camouflage Pattern whatever you want to call it was something to luagh at same with the Air Force ABU - Airman Battle Uniform that copied it in a Tiger Stripe Pattern. The Air Force original had a Blue ABU that the Air Force luaghed at it only lasted for 6 months around 2003 . The Navy also had a Blue NWU - Navy Working Utility that just got phased out and there transitioning over to Marpat with the Type 2 & 3 NWU. The Marine Corps isn't stupid when it comes to camouflage and concealment like the other branches have been the past 18 years .

    The hardest camouflage is in the snow, your warm breath and the smoke coming out of the barrel and the scope will give you away, the only sniper in history who covered all that was Simo Hayha "the white death", he uses to chew snow, burry his barrel in snow after each shot, all that with just iron sights. Confirmed kills: 505.

    3/8 former Geiger Marine. That's when Marines lived in squad bays and not some fancy rooms they have now. 8th Marine Regiment was probably the most deployed regiment in 2nd MARDIV. We'd spend a few weeks in the desert heat, and then fly off to cold weather training where the temps were -20/-30 in places like Norway or in the states at Wisconsin or Bridgeport California. As soon as we'd disembark from the plane, our CO would have us ground all our gear and put on PT gear, and we'd go running a few miles to get acclimated. Looking back, damn we were nuts! I remember standing at the movie theatre in Jacksonville, NC when it was freezing, and me and my buddy were wearing shorts and flip flops, lol. Miss it each day I breathe (85-94)

    My drill instructor got pissed at me for looking at my rifle during inspection arms. He told me he would give me something to look at and proceeded to grab the top of my head and while doing so he was able to hold both my top eyelids open with his fingers, while directing my head towards the PI summer sun. I had black spots in my vision for the next two days. It worked though. Made sure I didn’t look at my rifle while performing inspection arms again. Back to my original point. It’s not mentioned in this video, but you will need to buy a ton of clear finger nail polish to put on your junk when you come out of the field. I had red bugs all over and it’s miserable. Not sure if red bugs aka chiggers are a problem to northerners, but from growing up in Alabama I new the tricks to getting rid of them on the hop.

    Everyone wants to be a sniper until it’s time to do the job...moving 2 inches an hour, shitting and pissing in your pants....then Reg don’t do much in the rear when the platoon is around, your just put back into a regular squad...at least that’s what they did in the early 2000’s.
    Then they still use 7.62 (.308)..when it’s better to at least use a .300Win Mag...take it to Iraq and at long distances, some of the guys get up after a chest shot...

Yea, the juice they had sucked, but don’t make it seem like the 40 was just a mosquito bite...a 300winmag wouldn’t have made that big an impact. And then think of the logistics nightmare...

      And don’t sell yourself short. If the treasury dept ain’t filling the bills, or you’re just bored, you can be a professor of military studies, a JROTC instructor, a marksmanship instructor, a contractor, a military advisor for Hollywood/theatre (Dale Dye ain’t gonna love forever you know), and so much more. Hop on the 8541 group pages if your cammies are that salty, see how you can give back. Hell, find the reserve unit close and help their oic spice up a drill weekend with some field time. Find boy scouts or other young boys and pass on some sere knowledge. Teach trapping, fishing, etc...of course the difference too between ethical/legal and what the school teaches. That right there opens up all kinds of opportunities to pass on wisdom this MOS has given you.
