Last week I just saw 4 young Japanese female tourists having Lor Mee at the cafe in Devan Nair institute in Jurong East. It’s supposed to be a famous stall from Yew Tee. I guess it must be famous as no tourists will go to a training center for Lor Mee. Did not had the chance to try the Lor Mee though as they close before 2pm.
The first Lor Mee I ever had with the taste that captivated me for life is no more around . I tried many stalls around the island these days they were never the same .
You should have ordered the lor mee with cod fish. Very different as the fish is fried and served in one piece, and has great taste. The red snapper meat would be shredded just like with typical lor mee. I believe this lor mee is the same stall that operated in a TPY kopitiam for awhile before closing down after a year or 2.
thanks for the info Ghib, i havent visit china town for many years,, its nice to see it from live stream,, 有難う😅、 the first time i ate lorme was 15 years ago i think or more,,hehe 😅
I miss the lor mee from Simon Road market. So many ingredients including bak kwa. Can never find the taste any more. Hawkers from the olden days were just so passionate about their craft, every bowl of food is prepared with heart.
Ghib Ojisan, good recommendation of this delicious Singapore lor mee. Good to recommend to your Japanese audience. You are a chilli lover too. I must try this lor mee stall I observed the food court in this New People's park customers are elderly people especially the Chinese Singaporeans.
You just missed a very good (but maybe not the best) nasi padang store, right after you cross the bridge from Chinatown point over to People's Park Centre, turn left up the stairs instead of going right. (when you see the orange juice machine).
Yes, agree, this is the best so far to my liking, I’m puzzled it is not super popular like Michelin rated place. The uncle trusts the customer about the payment which is very cool ❤
Hi Ghib, just a suggestion, wondering can your video (esp when u speak japanese) be translated to english, so the english reading audience will also understand and appreciate what you are saying. Tks.
Love your style and recommendations. Have been watching your channels a lot. Cheers. Lor mee, must have plenty of garlic, red cut chilli and vinegar. That’s my style. Maybe next time you may wish to introduce some massage spa with couple/family facility.
I will recommend the heartland best lor mee at block 747 YISHUN Ring Road coffeeshop, it opens before 7am and closed at 2pm costs only $4/- Really delicious and authentic local lor mee
People's Park Centre food court/eateries are crowded during lunch time. FYI lots of office workers go there for lunch. I was one of them when I worked around the area last time LOL. P.S. there is a popular malay stall right at the bridge at the left of the juice vending machine as you were going down the stairs entering the building. I've encountered a handful of stalls who ask customers to pay and collect change themselves as they don't have extra pair of hands and it is cleaner that way. I don't find lo mee "fishy" though😅 and the People's Park has a lot of elder shoppers, office workers, tour agencies and those who buy craft works stuff. That area also has a few money changers. It's one of the older malls but it's kept quite clean.
Must admit, lor mee is not unanimously beloved among locals, perhaps due to underwhelming first exposure (every stall has its own gravy recipe) or simply unsavory condiment mix (too vinegar-y). But it's a dish which diners are free to garnish as they please; I love mine with extra garlic & chilli paste (whose sourness already compensates for vinegar). It's also comfort food for those who grew up with it, developing one's own preferred taste over the years. BTW The Ma Bo chain is consistently delicious, & very good value for money, if you don't have any particular lone-stall favorites.
Hello, jit pun lang, SG Aunty introduce you the golden mile Hawker Center is in Beach Road. On the 2nd floor the store is facing at the CC center. Their lor mee is good. You should go and try. Take mrt alight at lavender Station.
Agrees with you....the best Lor Mee I had was in 1980 at Toa Payoh Central...its an old couple.....now me also stopped eating.....couldnt get the taste that I wanted....sighhhh
Actually I feel the best lor mee in Singapore is at Tanglin halt hawker . The stall Name is Cheng Mei Shi. Worth the Q. Super tasty. Especially the fried fish
@@khokl9288 indeed indeed! Another place that is awesome Lor Mee is Old Airport Road Xin Mei Xiang. That one must go early in the morning and long queue. 😅

The vinegar is a must! It negates the alkaline in the yellow flat noodles.
You need to try the one at ciyuan community centre. Select traditional lor mee from the menu
Agree, 12:26 Lor mee at Ciyuan CC hawker centre also came to my mind. The traditional one is my family’s favourite.

Lor mee is translated as braised noodles. Different from the cantonese lo meen.
