In my 60s now, I truly miss my kampong days. Recalling those simple life with us kids playing in the streets - no cars, only bicycles n motorcycles. Hari Raya was celebrated by both Muslims n Hindus, likewise Deepavali too. Everyone was invited for every functions.
Everyone knew everyone, doors opened in the morning will only be closed at night.
Most of us were not rich, but were good neighbours helping each other.
Gone are those golden days, still living in the past with tears in my heart.

Masih ada yang tinggal di Pulau Ubin ye?...makcik saya berasal dari sini, tetapi dipindahkan ke Tampines. Suasana di sana yang tenang dan damai, sama macam kampung di Malaysia. Hi..I am Azrin from Desaru, Johor 😊

The only place in Singapore which is dear to us.. The place we can find peace and tranquility.. Hope the government let it stay as it is.. A place for our next generation to know that the Singapore they know now started like this..

Such a lovely island with its charm and authenticity! I can still remember the simple but yet happy kampung life I grew up from in the mainland Singapore from mid 1960s to early 1970s. Pulau Ubin is now what we have left with to remind us all of the kampung days. Please preserve Ubin as it is and not turning it into another Sentosa island! I do hope the Singapore Government is generously funding the restoration of these termite-infected kampung houses so that our fellow Singaporean Ubin islanders can live comfortably in them. 🙏

Thank you for sharing this beautiful video of P. Ubin. I know many of the residents featured in this video and I hope they are in good health. There used to be an abandoned landrover somewhere around the vicinity of the house where the cemetery was filmed and wonder, whether it is still there ?

Ooh dear went to Ubin Is in 2006 and cycling around the island was a great fun. Wild pigs along the quiet small street, passed jerat Cina, went to see the lombong, kayaking along the island with big cargo ships passed by, saw wood-plank traditional house WoW! And during night time hang-out at the pier and saw Johore port infront... night sky filled with airplanes passed by... i will never forget my experience at Ubin Is... ❤️Ubin❤️

On of a few places left to escape the city and enjoy the nature. Whenever I’m sick of the city I come there for trail running. Drink stalls really help - even if you have water, cold drink saves the day.

That was great! I was fortunate to spend most of 1991-1992 on Pulau Ubin. Cycling, sailing, canoeing, hiking, riding motorbikes and driving powerboats every day. I have not since returned, so this is a welcome insight. Hope it hasn't changed too much, and hope it doesn't change too much in the future.

~Beautiful! Thank you for this video :') I think we all need to learn to cherish what we have in life. I went there twice recently...many residents featured in this video have moved out (I think). The temple and the coconut stall has closed down. With such a competitive economy, it's very difficult for Ubin to last :'( I do hope the government will continue to make plans to preserve Pulau Ubin, and more than that, to help the younger generation learn and appreciate it.

Yesterday, I went camping in Ubin. It was a truly humbling experience. However, I was saddened to see the level of trash around Jelutong Campsite.
I wish we could experience moments like these more often. Enjoying nature's bounty. Living simply. Rather than being self-absorbed in your screen like most SIMPs. Thanks for sharing.

Nice quiet unspoiled island to spend on vacation, probably the only natural spot available in Singapore untouched by greedy skyscraper developers and corporate moguls. Seem like its natural beauty is not going to last long when Singapore is run out of land for government project development plans, then it will be a pity.

Notta sure it is wheelchair friendly.
Looking it is simply kumpong, where the originals of difference races have started, left and remaining...
Minus away trucks, mountain bikes, resurrecting, attracting difference race will definitely bringing former livelihoods back on to this island.

Palau Ubin is small island belongs to Singapore. Most the people staying in the island are mostly Chinese. There’s hardly
any jobs for outsiders to grab because even the locals have to look jobs in Singapore. Nevertheless, most elderly people
who didn’t who couldn’t find jobs outside Palau Ubin are doing farming. Palau Ubin has no entertainment nor restaurant.
No hospital nor Clinic in the island. But there quite a lot is boats plying there as taxis to serve the people in the island.

That's how we destroy our biodiversity. why catch or remove crabs that's have not reached maturity. What is even more amazing is that when told small size crabs has little meat and should be release back to grow, incorrigible folk can reply that if they dont someone else will do the same. How to reason with people to protect the wild life?
