  • It’s the first week on the House of Tiny Terrors, Tanya is helping three families with their children with their bad behaviour.
    Children - and parents - learning the right way to do things
    The House of Tiny Terrors is a real house that doubles up as a clinic for three very different families with toddlers aged one to five years old. Each of the families is affected by a parenting problem; it could be sleeping, eating or bad behaviour. The house is rigged with cameras and over the course of the week, the families are monitored 24/7 by a presenter and child psychologist. Once problems have been witnessed, our expert gets to work - coaching the parents on how to interact with their child using ‘ear bug’ techniques and providing games, stunts and role-play exercises to help the families look at their issues in new ways. One week later we visit them back home to see if their lives have changed for the better.
    Real Families brings you stories of modern day family life from around the world through the eyes of children, parents, and parenting experts.

    I do like this format and have missed it since I last saw it a long time ago in our UK series.. It adds a different dimension with having two or more families living altogether in one house. Tanya has so much patience and it is tested to have so many children to monitor and problems to solve.

      +Jayne Eyre So you have one person who works eight hours a day five days a week out of the house and another person working 16 hours a day seven days a week? When does the person staying at home have their weekend? When does their work-day end?

Lol, it's confusing me. I wish I could find a playlist that had all episodes, in order. Lol. It's also so weird that, Dr. Tanya, looks so different, but definitely in a good way; she's gorgeous. Also the host is different, and they did a lot of upgrades. Especially, in the bedrooms, and surveillance room! Time flies, it's crazy! Lol

    Sometimes it’s really all about how you speak to your kid. Instead of saying “THATS ENOUGH STOP OR YOULL GO ON TIME OUT” you should say “I understand that you’re upset and I will speak to you once you’ve calmed down and you’re ready to have a normal conversation with me.” And walk away. It doesn’t matter how old they are. You need to treat them like your equal, not like a bratty little kid. If they’re refusing to eat, fine. Let them know that if they don’t eat what is put onto the table, they must not be hungry at all. It’s important to instil healthy eating habits when your kids are young. That means feeding them real, whole foods not chicken nuggets and McCain superfries lol.
    Oh, and if my daughter ever hits me, I will absolutely hit her back. Obviously not with force. They need to learn one way or another that physical violence is not okay.

    • @HelenEk7
      @HelenEk7 5 років тому +4

      I see what you mean, but this doesn't work on all children. My son had temper tantrums from the age of 2 till he turned 4. The ONLY thing that worked was time outs. My daughter on the other hand we could just talk to, and she would quickly calm down. You cannot use one method only, and expect it to work on all children..

      It's actually pretty rare to have toddlers/children this out of control. If you establish rules, habits, and respect from the time they can follow directions you won't have problems. I have 3, and we did not use corporal punishment, but established rules/habits that we modeled for them, and reinforced and praised when they were good. We never went through terrible two's, tweens, or teens. I'm not saying that they were/are perfect, but they are all now amazing young adults who we are definitely proud of.

    This is the US verson of House of Tiny Tearaways. I always thought that the kids in the UK were coddled a little more than usual based on shows I saw from UK on problematic kids.) You saw a lot of fowl language out of such small children, hitting and cursing parents out, a lot of wont eat anything but chocolate or yogurts. When the parents were told to put their foot down, Id see fathers crying about the dumbest stuff. Not to say that it never happens with parents in the US, I just never saw it as frequent. Its more of kids misbehaving with each other or wanting too much attention. I wonder how these kids will compare to the kids from the UK show and will it be pretty much the same...

    The real problem with the twins at mealtimes? Far, too, controlling, no choices, food upon food upon food upon food, every, single, micro second. Their little brains, can only, take two at a time at age two years old, so, you can offer, sandwich or pasta, tomato or soup, banana or yoghurt Etc Etc Etc, pack enough clothes for 3 weeks for both twins instead of just one week, because, all of us at some point, even myself now, age 38, have to change clothes at least once or even twice a day because we spilt food down our tops, trousers, skirts Etc. Maximum of 20 minutes at the table, no pressure, no highchairs for kids over 18 months of age. Too babyish, so they'll behave like babies for as long as they have baby props like the furniture, and accessories to help them stay babies.
