I know Monica! She is a great professional! Small world!
I liked the first house better. I love the fact that the roof top was open. the possibilities there are endless.
Linda, please let Paul have the house.😊
Great video. Great contrast choices. Keep doing one of those real estate comparison videos when you travel to a new place. I think buying a home in Mexico can make sense if you know you want to live in it full-time 7+ years and you have already lived in the target area via a rental. If you have Mexican residency, buying a home as mostly an investment play seems like a questionable Mexico investing choice currently, given the run up in real estate values and given Mexican treasuries are earning around 10% interest. Speaking of Mexican Treasuries, think about doing a short video some day on starting a Cetes Directo account. Some of your viewers might find that interesting.
The home tours were very interesting and so different. For me, the house would be my pick, take out some of the concrete and put in grass for my dogs, use some of the rest for planting flowers, etc. They are both nice options, regardless. Have fun looking!
You can’t go wrong with Monica Wright. She’s amazing! Appreciated the tour of homes from opposite ends of the spectrum.
Thank you!
I love Mexican homes whenever I see a home tour I click right away :)
Thank you for the comparison. When I move to Mexico I want to be in a local neighborhood. I appreciate the thoughts you brought up about costs in a gated community. I did not think about all that.
Wonderful video, have a great rest of the week 😁
I really enjoy your new videos; Linda is SUCH A BIG ADDITION!!! Keep it up you two! thank you so much for sharing all you do about lovely Mexico. Am here now for 6 months(staying in 3 different areas) with plans to move in the next year. Will look forward to where to take us next!
I bought a house in centro, Qro a year ago and love it. Sure love going to Tequis on the weekends! Great video! Thanks
thanks for the info, I am really getting interested in this area now!! Definitely have to come and visit. Big fan of your channel. My wife and I have been watching for years.
really enjoy your videos, straight to the point, practical and informative, thank you
I really enjoyed this video! I know it would be a different direction, but I’d love to follow along on any renovations you do on your next house.
Both are nice places. I'm sure you'll know your home when you see it. Good luck on the house hunting🤗 Thanks for sharing
Awesome to contrast 2 very different properties and hear your thought process. Also, low-key Linda, you are wonderful. ❤️ So very real and great contributions to the video.
I REALLY liked this video. I've looked up website for real estate to see what Mexico has to offer, but all I've ever seen are two stories. It's good to know there are one-story homes. I'd love to see more of these types of videos.
Thanks Paul and Linda!! Great tour!!
I will like to see more properties. Thank you for all the information on your canal.
Nice video and explanation of housing in Mexico. I just bought a very well constructed home in Reforma, Oaxaca. It is a 10 minute walk to the business area of Reforma, and 30 minute walk to Santa Domingo an the Zocalo. I paid 6 million pesos for the house and did major updating to replace all the wiring and water systems, and rehab the whole home to new standard. All the living is on one level. As an older man I wanted safety and comfort. Low maintenance was a major goal. I love living in a Mexican neighborhood with access to the tourist area. I walk 5 - 10 miles a day and never get bored! I love living in Mexico!
Great video. If we were still looking for a home this would give us an excellent idea of the range of options and styles. We ended up with a mix of these two: a very modern house on a moderate size lot with a large garden in the rear and a creek bordering in a small gated community with children playing in the streets. There is plenty of opportunity to modify and make the home our own from a screened in terrace and ceiling fans to photovoltaic and whole house water softener and reverse osmosis filtration system. My engineer wife brought only a tenth of her workshop, but she is admired by every workman we hire. And as Paul says, projects are reasonably affordable in Mexico. Oh, our HOA fees are only $400 MXN per month.
Great vid, such helpful info! I'm hooked.
Glad to hear it!
That was fun!!!
Personally I'd definitely go for the first one....the fruit trees, privacy...my own hot tub...the brick adds tequis style character, etcétera etcétera...
Wow, thanks for showing the various property offers in Mexico. It was very interesting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like both places. they both have their plus and minuses., but very livable. Thank you for this video!
Yes, this type of video is very informative, also like your other videos. Gracias
This is a great video! Thank you guys very much
Great video guys. Loved the patio area at the first house. Loved the condo too but those HOA fees were steep 😮
Paul was ready to jump in! 😂
Loved that Linda was very open and conversational. 😃
Any plans to visit San Miquel de Allende to tour properties. My future home.😍
Love your videos and do more tours please!
I like the idea of buying the first one and doing a fun renovation to it. All kinds of potential.
Excellent pros and cons. Many purchase and have regrets as the circumstances etc evolve. Rentals as well
Good video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you both!
Very fun (thank you Monica) a lot to like about both of the properties! Do we want easy come easy go with the condo and go traveling, or do we want the freedom of the house and all of its possibilities and then have what maybe a live-in maid to watch over it?
Really really enjoyed this real estate tour you can do that again anytime!
The outdoor courtyard and garage would quite likely be the deciding factor for me! Wow!
It is my pleasure! I admire the great informative content Paul and Linda provide so I was honored to help them. I am now more curious about what city or town they will choose!
Num Ber 1, num ber 1! Thank you both! It was nice to see another city in Mexico featured. ( super cute haircut Linda)
Thanks, Cynthia. (This is Linda)
Thank you for showing these two homes. Nice job Linda! There are 2 topics that we would love more info about. 1. Financing a property in Mexico. It seems everything is CASH. 2.) Rental options, how do you go about finding a reputable person/owner to rent from. Again, we hope to meet you both some day. We are coming to Playa Del Carmen in Feb.
Hi Cheryl. I do have a video about financing options for property: ua-cam.com/video/Rzf5PpTFaZk/v-deo.html
I do not, however, have one for finding a reputable person to rent from. That would be a good topic though.
Exciting, House for Sure 🪴⛲️
Both places are nice and Tequisquiapan is beautiful but small. Nice video. -Marc
The fridge in the bathroom is a nice touch. The second place is much nicer.
Great video idea 💪🙏 Well done.
Thank you 🙌
I like the traditional house where there is a bathroom in each bedroom.
I love the first house. Now another city on my list of places to live in Mexico. They both look like good deals, but the road noise on the mirador was a little much.
You two do A MOST EXCELLENT JOB.
Thank you. :)
Very good video! I loved the house...need that patio and garden. And no laundry facilities in the apartment?? I would love to know more about this town, too. I'm living at Lake Chapala, but looking at less crowded areas. I love the central highlands, not the coasts. Thanks for this fun look at real estate in that area.
There was a laundry room in the apartment. It just did not have anything in it other than a water heater.
Enjoyed your house tours! Can’t wait to see where y’all end up.
A huge shout out to Monica! We used her services and she facilitated us finding the perfect house for us in QRO. And we visited Tequisquiapan yesterday, our first visit.
😀👋 My best regards! I am glad you have visited Tequisquiapan.
This was a great video Paul and Linda!! I really liked the two properties you visited and all the detail you gave and showed. Whether or not you settle in Tequisquiapan I hope you'll consider showing more properties.
Thanks for the feedcback, Jack. People seem to like this type of video so I think we will be doing more as we travel.
I like how one home is totally different vs the other … both were Great making it difficult to choose. 😎
I love Mexico real estate tours.
Both properties are beautiful in their own way.
But the house. The house!
Could be made into a Mexican hacienda.👏👏
Happy Thanksgiving Paul and Linda. Enjoy your turquia tocos today 🤣 🦃
Linda totally rocked it, Paul! You better be careful or this channel is going to become the Linda show! LOL 😂 I now live in Mexico and all your videos were a huge help to me in moving down here! Keep up the good work!
Gracias! You two are amazing. You provide a wealth of information and knowledge to all aspects of Mexican living with respect to expats. I also feel that your personalities complement each other 😅
I like both even though they are very different from each other. But I think I like the possibilities of the first house; add a small swimming pool and a Jacuzzi, remove the bars from the windows, and, well, a lot of improvements, but the location is better than the other property (in my opinion).
Saludos ✌️
Great job guys. 👍👍
Both of you look rejuvenated after a few years of living in Mexico.
Wow! I never had a place this big! Los ricisimos!
Paul- Agree with your assessment, and just think of the new video content with a house! We know all about that! Unlike the US, renovations are actually fun the Mexico at least in our experience. Enjoy your search! 🤗
👌 wow! I really like the apartment to my surprise! I would really consider something like this for me and my family once we get our residency! Happy Thanksgiving btw you two! God bless 🙌 stay safe 🙏
Oh yes, stay safe. Mexico needs a more forceful and omnipotent government, like USSA so the little government agent Q-roo's can be safe.
I like both properties for you guys. Apt for convenience. Lock the door and go for periods when you want to travel. The house bc it is charming and well loved. You can feel the positive energy of it. And the fruit trees, patio and roof top which would make an amazing outdoor living room. Price of both is great but pers if you were going to hire a house Mgr to manage it whilst you travel, I'd buy that house 🤗
Love your new adventures, and Linda is such a natural! I hope you enjoy the journey as much as we do.
The apartment is beautiful, and great when you want to lock it up and go on a trip. I used to love doing remodels, but now I want to just hang up my clothes! 😂
I live in a house in Oregon and we did a fairly extensive remodel last year at approx 150K. Fraction of the cost or not, it's gonna be a long time before I want to do that again, even thought parts were really fun.
I've noticed in many older Mexican kitchens, including this first one, there aren't any above counter cabinets. Why is this? It means you continually have to bend over to the under-counter cabinets for everything - china, glasses, etc.
You know, I've never noticed that. I have no idea.
Yes, I have always been hesitant to go with the HOA thing, too much risk you will get fleeced.
Like your new videos and your favorite town. I’d never heard of tequisiapan (naturally) And I can see what’s attracts you there. What are some of the runner up favorites in central MX? Great videos, Paul and Linda- Thanks!
We don't really have a runner up there at this time; however, Linda says she is not done exploring.
I like the house, put a small plunge pool in the courtyard and a hot tub for the cooler nights and the price is good
I have a friend building house. His living in San Juan del Río. 15 min away from Tequis. And sometimes he has house to sell.
Nice teamwork!
Thanks!
Yes, yes, yes! I hope you guys buy in Tequis, I have a house in San Juan Del Rio whenever I’m not living my corporate life in Washington DC. I would love to have you guys as (somewhat close) neighbors!
Oh my....para mi ! House 🏠 oh the project makes for great views 👌 👏 👍
The house does have a lot of potential.
Great video!! thanks
Glad you liked it!
Best of luck with whatever you choose.
I like the homes across the way from the 2nd condo. Do you know anything about those?
Great videos! 👍
Love the 1st house thus far
Man, Tequis was the hidden gem of our Queretaro and Merida trip.
Linda looks foxy as hell with that new hair color. She's dead fine in this one. ;-)
So many cool places one could live in. We'll have out hands full with South America in 2023. But after that, the world is wide open.
Great house! The patio is a bonus you can’t find that in Mexico with privacy.
Both properties are very nice and within the reach of many coming from outside Mexico, especially Canadians and US citizens. However, Tesquisquiapan is just northwest of Mexico City which is a little too far from the ocean for me. I do not need to live right on the ocean but something a little closer is my cup of tea.
140 K that is mind blowing ,that house here in Sydney will be over 2 million if not more ...and that is very modest estimate ,so I think the time has come to leave Australia ...
Great job. Definitely do more of these. Cameraman did well but that tour guide girl (Linda)was fantastic! Hope you gave her a giant tip!! Seems like you know her anyway...Hahaha.
She is an excellent tour guide. I took her out for steak afterwards as a bonus...lol.
I love Tequis and its location to SMA QRO airports etc. But i saw a few videos of the flooding 2 years ago with big rains, kinds scared me off of this location. I would def do the house ! great video thanx !
The floods were in September last year. Only low lying areas along the river were affected. Just don't buy property along the river. It's polluted and smelly anyway.
@@greenzone5146 thanx good info to know, do you know if the granjas residenciales area, a bit north of town is flood free ?
@@camillelnaylor nothing north of town flooded last year. It was limited to a small area downtown near the river.
Thanks for showing the houses:) 20 minutes is a nice walk! I missed the location of the house. What city is it?
i wish you could do a video about Oaxaca housing and also San Cristobal.
Hey Paul and Linda; Great video as always and nice to see Linda participate and enjoying herself. Quick question about real estate prices in Mexico. I see a lot of properties, listed by different companies, list the prices in U.S. dollars. Does that mean that they are targeting these properties to foreign investors? Maybe the real question here is; when other properties are listed in millions, (or tens of millions) of MX Pesos, what percentage of local population can afford those prices?
YES!! And you will be paying gringo prices. They really don't want us in their country..but they desperately want our money. There are no bargains in most part of Mexico for us. They just go online and see what things cost in the US and charge a tiny bit less.
The first home was my favorite
I like San Sebastián del Oeste but the road from the airport tests my patience. Worry about the suspension driving over intermittent topes and cobblestone.
Thanks Paul and Linda! Ale and I had a great time meeting and assisting you. It is our pleasure! We will be here if Tequis is your choice!
Thank you so much for your assistance. :)
Awwww, how nice and cute. All you people are doing such a great job turning Mexico into USA. But don't forget about diversity and inclusion.
Thanks for the video. My wife and I are also looking for homes in Mexico, and prefer single family homes, something that you can actually work on and make it your own. I think gated communities are good when you first start off, renting, but to buy I don’t like them because I’m not a fan of any HOA’s. Plus having your own courtyard and garden is always a big plus for us.
We bought a home with gorgeous gardens and a gated community. While I hate HOAs in the States, I like not being on our own in a country where I know the language, but I am continually discovering how much I don't know about the culture, from electrical systems and plumbing, to kids and holidays. We didn't want an expat resort, so a close Mexican community has many advantages, despite living in a very rural location in western Colorado for 50 years.
First place, OMG so much work besides it's old makes me wonder the state of the plumbing and wiring. I did like the patio and fruit trees but still and easy pass. The condo, nice enough but I'd prefer my own house and property to roam as I choose. Nice vid overall.
Hi guys ! Love your Chanel ! My husband and I currently live in SMA but have been to Tequis before and thought it was quaint ! We were thinking of going back over and looking at property for sale. My question is this. Did you guys settle here or are you still searching for the perfect location ? If your there we would love to meet you both 😊
good couple of properties for comparison here. I prefer the local Mexican neighborhood living, but that apartment is super nice and stylish. the only negative for me is no pool. since I have been in Mexico I have also moved from the coast inland... the beach is a nice fantasy but I found it to be too hot and humid 9 months out of the year on the Pacific side. I'd rather live in the cooler and less humid interior and then travel to the beach during the winter months. anyways, will be interesting to see if you guys pick one of these places or keep looking. I hadnt even heard of the town where you are. will have to check into that....
We agree about the heat and humidity, but also the home and car maintenance problems living in a salt water atmosphere. Coming from Florida I suspect Paul and Linda are used to those. We found a location in the mountains at 3,000 feet elevation, an hour and 15 minutes from the coast. So a monthly trip to the beach is a requirement.
Beautiful Condo, a good buy. Same condo could cost $1M in LA, far from beach, beach front condo double price.
Both are more than we would be looking for.
Our goal is to start in Mexico, stay until our senior dogs pass away, and then travel around Mexico for a couple years and then take several years to slow travel south until we finish in Argentina. We speak Spanish, have lived abroad before, and have no desire to surround ourselves with tourists and expats.
We thrive on the cultural experiences and do not want USA-light. We love our country, but need the adventure. When we do finally settle down, we want to renovate something in a typical middle class place.
I would pick the first house. It is totally adorable and it has so much potential. It would feel like a real home. The condo apartment thing just doesn’t feel like the family place
Having lived in Tequis a couple of years now, I can tell you that house for 2.8 MDP is a pretty good deal for these parts with that much land.
Thanks for that insider's feedback..we appreciate it.
Paul and Linda forgive me if you've covered this topic in a previous video. But what about financing on Mexico? Do most people pay in full? Thanks for the video. For what it's worth that courtyard is awesome.
Linda, your hair looks great!
Good luck Paul 👍
Thanks, Edgar. :)
US dollar is at all time lows to the Mexican Peso right now. $17.95 Pesos to $1US. That’s almost a 15% decline from the high of $21 pesos Mexican to the dollar last year. Expats & tourists are both feeling that pinch right now. At least it’s not as bad as the decline in the Canadian $1 which is down 21.7%, the EU down 18% & the UK pound down 23.7% to the peso in the last year.
Hola mi amigo
We love doing casa tours either rental or purchase makes for much less editing lol 😂
Great video my friends thanks for sharing your time with us 2 Canadians 🇨🇦 living in Mexico Yucatan Peninsula ✌️🐶🥰 J&D
It's interesting I never really saw "Americanized suburbs" in my Mexico travels. Didn't see many front or backyards with grass and stuff. The homes were built right out to the street and (seems) the first thing they'll built were tall walls all around the property topped with security spikes and stuff. And they'll put in patio areas all over and use a lot of big planters for their garden greenery. Also one caveat, they don't have zoning laws like we have in the states so if you're buying a single home somewhere, 6 months down the line someone might put a nightclub in next door. Just saying.
Mexico homes all have issues with gas, water and electrical connectors, connection and supply. Home in the cold areas are generally very cold in winter. Many locations in Mexico get very cold winter. People think of Mexico as warm climate but not. Many places in Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Toluca,... Have issues with pipes freezing in the walls. Very very hard to find central heating. My home in Monterrey has 8 mini split units (lots of electricity) to heat and cool the home. Very common to have $1000 USD a month to heat or cool on the worst months.
If you move to Mexico you must expect to not have the conveniences of the USA.
Its all a matter of adjusting. After all, mexicans have lived and enjoy their country for as long as they have inhabited the area.
Lesson?-learn to adjust and assimilate.
‘must expect to not have conveniences of the usa’. Huh? I know Mexicans who have lovely, modern homes.
@@carolfischer5264 Sure there are some, but have you check the quality of wiring in the electrical box? or the pluming under the sink? Do they have central heating with a real furnace for maximum cost savings? A furnace and heat ducts in Mexico are very rare. Have friends here Mexico that live in homes that cost $5 million USD, and still do not central air and central heat and still have design and labor defects. I have lived in many countries around the world, I could give two flying Freaking flips about gringos or the USA. Quality, engineering, design standards are universal around the world. Cost savings, energy conservation is global.
I live in the town where they are looking. Very few homes here have heating or air conditioning as it is not needed. It almost never freezes and rarely does the temperature go above 95F in summer.
@@greenzone5146 true. Apples are generally red and orange generally orange. Not the point. That is why I said "many" locations, not all. For some people over 75 is hot and want air conditioning. Plus it adds value. When looking at a home, must check structure, wiring, plumbing and workmanship. Don't worry about the flooring, worry what is under the floor. What you will find is sad in all of those items if property inspected. We can do better. I know, personally several owners of some of the largest construction firms in Mexico. They agree the work is not on par but they also tell me the buyers don't understand what they are buyer so they sell it anyways for profit. Shame on them and the workers and the buyers. This is a great topic to tell all our friends, relatives and public so we can push up the quality of the products being sold (home), improve the labor force with training and educate buyers. Knowledge is power.
Beautiful condo...unfortunate that the majority of the views are your neighbours houses.
You guys work really well together. Enjoy your videos!
I sure wish you could have given us a map of where your location was approx. For next time please. Thanks for the video and Monica too.
They have a google image zoom in at the start of the video, looks like it's smack dab in the middle of the country. No beach, no bueno.
Thank you!
Question for you and your viewers: What online site would you recommend to obtain an online Mexico FMM? We are driving from Texas to Ajijic. Thanks!
