    Thank you for sharing your ideas. We are starting the story of the world volume 1 next month. I'm very excited about it. Your explanations in this video were great and I was just wondering if I could get the activity book unbound and put in a binder. Your Awesome! God bless

    I have been trying to figure out what the narrations were for in the teacher's guide. Did you read them aloud and have your children copy them? We have been skipping that part because I didn't know what to do with it.

    What size binders do you use? 1 1/2'' ? Thank you for this video! We will be doing this method this year and can hardly wait. :)

      Jessica H for the kids' notebooks yes -- 1 1/2" -- the teacher binder was larger, however.

    I an new to CC (completed one year), but have not used Story of the World before. I know that many CC families do! I have a few questions about Story of the World. Do you complete the level in sequential order of lessons or do you match up the lessons with the History topic for the memory week? Basically, does CC memory week and Story of the World sync? If not, do your children not get confused jumping around?
    Thanks,
    Tera

      Tera Shores my son hasn't gotten messed up with the jumping around... it doesn't sync up perfectly, but I love Story of the World so much that it is ok with me. I hope this helps!

    Thank you! I'm looking forward to starting volume 1 with my second grader. Question: How often will you teach SOTW during the week? Once, twice a week?

    • @MaryPrather
      @MaryPrather  9 років тому

      April MacDonald I'm not exactly sure just yet... we will mostly likely use it mainly as a read aloud this year because we have done this volume before with all of the activities

    First of all, thank you very much for this video. It is very helpful. Mary, did you purchase only one copy of the book and read aloud to your children, or do you purchase one copy for each of them?

    • @MaryPrather
      @MaryPrather  10 років тому

      I purchased one copy and read aloud -- we also have the audio!

    How do you go about unbinding a book? That's smart!

    I'm concerned about teaching middle ages / dark ages to my son and truthfully history for that matter but it can't be avoided .Do you have any suggestions on incorporating GOD in the story of our world also is it child friendly ? My son is 8 but he has the mind of a 2 year old he is specially gifted but I'm concern about strong topics that would upset or corrupt him.The world history is not very nice.

      I know I'm 5 years too late, but Mystery of History or Truthquest might work. Plus, you can always edit out parts that you do not deem appropriate for your child(ren). It's part of the beauty of homeschooling 😊

    Did you purchase ALL of the timeline figures in advance? I see that would be rather pricey since Sonlight divides them up for each "grade". Or did you just purchase them as the kids grew? I'm just curious how you knew you'd have the right sticker at the right time if you didn't use Sonlights full curriculum. I LOVE all of your ideas and and recommendations and I will be using them this fall!

      +Lauren S All of the figures came with a Homeschooling in the Woods Timeline DVD that I purchased long ago. It was well worth the $$!
