In the late 1960s my mom refinished a suite of garage sale furniture in a similar color for my baby sister. That green is still her favorite color. We lost mom in June - watching you paint that dresser brought back a wonderful memory. Thank you.

What a great versatile piece of furniture that would just about fit into any room in the house. I especially love your decision to add the casters. The older I get the more I’m looking at pieces that allow me to easily move them around and be able to change their purpose instead of getting rid of it. ❤️

WOW! What a change from the original piece. Seeing the two side by side at the end was amazing. No one would guess they are the same. I had some doubts about the dark stain for the top at first, but seeing how it looked in the end, well, I really liked it! I think it looked more office like with the castors. I would have regular legs for a bedroom table or other room in the house. Maybe keep the castors for a kitchen? Anyway, I really liked how it came out and congrats for going through all that work to make it look so good. Setting up the spray tent in itself was a feat! You have such good instincts and I admire your work so much. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Great to see you back Andy. Missed your adventures. What a fabulous job you did with this one. It's absolutely beautiful. Love the green and I didn't think the top would come out as dark as it did. I was expecting an orangey tone. Beautiful. Might have to pop some of that pine stain oil into my next order of fusion. I've tried their cappucino sfo and I really like the colour of that.

Nice work! You did really well with those straight cuts. If you want to add a little chamfer detail, a piece of sandpaper wrapped around the corner of a woodblock works well. Just run the corner down the center of the cut. Gives a little illusion of depth.
In case it is ever useful: If you want to get dead straight cuts with a circular saw, you can clamp a straight piece of wood to the work to guide your circular saw. Just measure the offset from the side of the shoe to the edge of the teeth on the blade and clamp your guide with that offset. So if the shoe is 1" from the right side of your blade to the right side of the shoe/base of your saw, then just clamp your guide 1" to the right of the line you want to cut. This works for through cuts as well if you ever need a longer rip cut and don't have a tablesaw handy.

This is so cute, Andy! The color reminds me of a vintage file cabinet. Just right for a college dorm room. Next time you might want to use a router for the drawer fronts to create that line. I love the idea that it's not something you are emotionally attached to like an antique or grandmas credenza.
While I love the painted look and I know it is the trend now. I think we need to give a good thought to painting natural woods. When the trend swings back to stained woods we need to consider what the process will be for stripping these kinds of pieces so they are "in style" again. I just stripped a natural wood dresser that had four coats of wall paint and believe me it gave me pause when it comes to simply painting solid wood furniture.
Thanks so much, Karen! And yes, I agree with you...trends will shift for sure. (Although, it is true that some amount of painted furniture has been around and desirable for hundreds of years, so not sure if it will ever fully disappear). But that said...I've never stripped chalk or mineral style paint off a piece, only stripped latex. I have certainly sanded a good amount of it off. My thinking is that any finish done with quality products and with quality techniques is a great to place to start.
I know I am going to enjoy season 4. Looking forward to see what you are going to do with the other 4 chest.
