OMG! the first time I heard this song, I was on vacation in Mexico City with some friends and went to a restaurant and they played this song. When I flew back to Los Angeles, we got off the plane and went straight to Hollywood to a club called CIRCUS DISCO. This song was playing, and the dance floor became a floor filler. 67 years old now and both friends are no longer here. Great Memories Though, Miss them very much.
That's for sure. If you liked disco at all, how could you not move or like this song? Don't know why it didn't go higher on the charts. Still sounds great to this old guy.
I hate when gems like this are ignored on Disco's Best lists. Instead they include almost un-dancable hits like Last Dance (Last Chance For Love) among others. If you were seriously out there on the floor, you didn't want this tune to end.
Just another bottle of pure HAPPINESS we all jammed to while sweatin' up the clubs until the sun came up. Keep on Dancin my fellow party people...🕺🔥🎶🎼🎹🎧🌁💯✌❤
I agree w John K. below. I was always out at the discos in mid and late 70's loving disco music. But I never remember this song. It is FANTASTIC!! Wow! When is disco music coming back? Nothing since even compares to it!! I'm a fanatical workout freak and I do all my workouts here at home to disco music.
Great song, the dance floor shone to the rhythm of the music and the steps of the dancers, wow how great it was to see those pleasant moments lived, I had a great time and I still have a great time with all the disco music, OMG!!!! Greetings from Mexico!!!
this is the best disco song ever, anyway theres only 20 worth listening to from 78 to 79, i'm a man by macho, touch me in the morning disco verson, this time baby(jackie moore), hot butterfly, if you could read my mind disco version, lost in music, thats the trouble grace jones, victim candi staton, i've got the next dance, i cant stand the rain.....doctor love..memories disco ....native new yorker..etc....
Probably my favorite disco song. Extended version really makes this feel good song even better. Only 1 real hit for the Raes but this is the best. I know a lot of people hated disco but I'd take it any day over rap. God knows we need more positive tunes these days.
Me, too. I would endure disco music better than rap, hip-hop and today's "R&B" music. In fact, I believe that disco music was the last best music ever produced.
People who don’t like Disco have two left feet and tin ears. The best songs such as “Don’t Turn Around” still sound so fresh and lively 40+ years later.
@@FRADAVE02 I love Begin the Beguine too. I tear up when he sings “It brings back a memory evergreen”. My partner Eric was a great hustle dancer and that song so reminds me of him. He passed away a year and a half ago. I play Disco music a lot now to honor his memory.
I’m beyond excited that I found this song again through an incredible person in my life! This song was one of my favourites back in the day! Such wonderful disco memories! Thank you for the magic! I’m literally on my feet boogieing! 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽🔥🔥🔥💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽
The Raes were a real cute husband / wife duo! We used to literally run to the dance floor when we would hear the opening notes to this song! Needless to say, my running days are now over. :-)
Great Canadian disco classic. So danceable. Good mix and mucho instrumentals. Saw the Raes on AB, Hot City, and Soap Factory Disco. This groove always kept Ben Casey away. Great riff interlude too. Thanks for this gem, A & M. Glorious fresh disco music. Happy stuff. Vive les disco freaks....
9 years old when this came out! but remembering listening to the radio hearing this? and then the TV? glued to kojack! when this song played in one of those TV series with kojack, #1
This is one of many club songs that cleared the dance floor of tourists and let the rest of us show y'all how it got done. Along with several other pure dance tunes you could really, really dance to this. "Love is in the Air" (Paul Young (?)) is another. I have the 12" single--but You Tube is the only place I've found on the web you can listen.
Great Disco song, always heard it in the clubs, and it still sounds great! Brings back So many great memories of getting all dressed up, and doin the town!
This song made me late for class one day. LOL We had a Bagels store up the block from my school. So me and my friend decided to run there between classes, grab a Bagel, then run back for our next class. This song came on the radio at the store and I wasn't leaving until it was over, then we ran back to school in the rain. Was late for class and soaking wet. 😨
I grew up in London Ontario Canada. About 45 minutes where Cherrill lived. I have their album, "The Raes". This song is on it and that is why I bought it. Disco Days...didn't like it then but I like it know. 🌟🇨🇦🌹🌈🦋🌟🇨🇦
Man cruzing up to Albuquerque for a night of fun dancing in the parking lot with all the other hustlers, cause I was to young to get into the bar. Loved Disco it was life changing and a touch of city lights with class.
This was such a great one to hear on those crazy disco dance floors from back then. I always thought they must have been American but now I found out they're Canadian/Welsh, which is a good thing cos my Dad is from Wales too!! My favourite Raes song though is 'School' from the same album, check it out if you don't know it.
The Mutiny / Honey for the Bears - Coconut Grove, Brasserie / 747 - Miami, Limelight - Hallandale, Pete & Lennys / Mr Pips - Ft Lauderdale....Glorious time!

I'm 56, and this song just makes me get up and move, regardless of any pain!
This is what you call a great Disco classic
Yeah boy, I'm 57 and nothing helps the aches and pains better than goin back to the day ' .... dance all night
I'm 61 andI just got up and danced like crazy...not even out of breath. Has a great pulsing beat....helps to be a dancer as I am.
I’m 47 and still got moves.
63 here, and nothing puts me in a better mood than listening to the old Disco Divas!
I love disco. Ever since my junior high school years I love the best and lyrics. Today's music is crap
One of the best underrated disco records, ever.
That's good way to put it, yeah.
That's for sure. If you liked disco at all, how could you not move or like this song? Don't know why it didn't go higher on the charts. Still sounds great to this old guy.
You are absolutely right to me this is a Disco Classic
And, they were Canadian!
On UA-cam, everything is underrated.
I hate when gems like this are ignored on Disco's Best lists. Instead they include almost un-dancable hits like Last Dance (Last Chance For Love) among others. If you were seriously out there on the floor, you didn't want this tune to end.
Great point!
Totally agree! This was a great dance tune, not to be ignored! 👍

Once, at the Saint, I dragged my boyfriend from the coat-check baaack up to the dance floor when this song came on!
You are so right...this song was played at real disco clubs
Saw this on Dance Fever with Denny Terrio back in the 70's and loved it. Seemed like such a great era to be a live and just 20 years old.
I was 5 in ‘79 and disco dancing alongside my then 19 year old godmother.
Years ago Denny Terrio was at a Disco I was at, he was dancing with a friend of mine, the man has got the moves, lots of fun and great memories...
The world needs DISCO parlors! Bring 'em back!
That's a fact.our time..yes they should bring them back.
Pure Disco!!!! Sensacional eternamente!!!
Never even knew about this song in the 70s....heard it on Sirius....a masterpiece!!! Like finding king Tut s tomb!!!!
I love your post !
Living in Canada, this got alot of radio play in late '78/early '79. I still appreciate how well it sounds!
Makes you get up and dance!!❤
Just another bottle of pure HAPPINESS we all jammed to while sweatin' up the clubs until the sun came up.

All I gotta do is play this and I'm instantly HAPPY!
It is one of the few songs of the Discothéque genre that gets me out of my chair to dance to it.
I went to 1978, and I saw The Raes!
Absolute best disco song ever! I lived it, best time of my life, rythym and romance! Today? Pure Crap.

Definitely in my top five, along with Johnny Mathis (Begin the Beguin) and Esther Phillips (Stormy Weather). All of them are pure Disco Magic!
“Don’t Turn Around” was an even bigger hit in New York.
People who don’t like Disco have two left feet and tin ears. The best songs such as “Don’t Turn Around” still sound so fresh and lively 40+ years later.

This is the bomb! Back when people really sang (pre auto-tune) and played real instruments (pre synthesizers).

Great music, makes me happy to listen and feel the vibe.
First time I heard this, I was stationed at Norton AFB, from a co-worker, SrA Sal Becerra. Those were the good ol' days, back in the 1980s.
husband & wife duo took this to #5 on the BB disco charts back in 1978.
Yes it was a good song
Keep this vinyl extended version on my turntable at all times, waiting for guests!

I remember duyin this 45 single at a school function back in the nearly 80 I'm loving this cut of this song
For a lot of reasons 1978 was one of the best years of my life. this song takes me back and gets this 75 year old body up and moving.
I'm 71. I was in the clubs in 73-74 when disco was being birthed. By 1978 I found the scene jaded. Went to levi-leather bars.

Man cruzing up to Albuquerque for a night of fun dancing in the parking lot with all the other hustlers, cause I was to young to get into the bar. Loved Disco it was life changing and a touch of city lights with class.
I LOve the 'mix' on this, especially midway where it's like someone went, "That's quite enough singing, back to the beats..."
This song I’ve played over and over for the past 3 days and will forever!!!
Great from Puerto Rico Yogi was here
gotta love the disco break...
