- Here it is! From beginning to end. All 15 minutes, 24 seconds! Have NO doubt...this is the single greatest #1 Disco song of the 1970s!!! VERY IMPORTANT! YOU MUST LISTEN TO IT COMPLETELY TO SEE THAT I AM RIGHT (because the song gets better and better as it plays on). Only a few came close to this one: "Love in C Minor" by Cerrone, "Disco Nights" by GQ, "Souvenirs" by Voyage, "Come to Me" by France Joli, or "Love is the Message" by MFSB. Yeah, close, but not close enough. ROMEO AND JULIET WAS THE BEST!
I was born in 1976. My sister is 14 years older than me. My earliest memories of life is this song and watching her dance with her friends before going out on a Saturday night. I am 45 years old today and my 8 yr old and 6 yr old sons are learning how to dance to this with my sister 💗💗💗 no song like this exists. Childhood in New York 💛

I live for DISCO !!! I wish , I wish I could go back to my time back in the 70”s and 80”s . Music was clean, pure and lots of beautiful talented people. I’m 59 , but damn I’m a healthy 59 and I don’t care what the non-believers think, I got old school music blasting out of my expedition all the time, just beautiful wonderful disco music, you name it m I got it . Over 3000 disco hits , I was very happy in those times, just cruising with my friends in my 79 Camaro berlinetta , going to the gallery and trying to sneak in on studio 54 , and than afterwards to White Castle around 4 in the morning, eating belly bombers , good music, good friends and so so food, but we had fun and nobody was looking for trouble

back in 1978, my first car in high school was a 1977 Lincoln continental MK V, last era of the those enormous cars as gas prices were cheap and heard this song over the radio at the dealership when I first bought the car.
We're a progressive metal band, but I continually tell anyone who will listen that this is not only the GREATEST DISCO song of all time, but it is a masterpiece across all genres! Everything about it is truly unbelievable; the changes, the vocals, the arrangement, the musicianship, the complexity...And let's not leave out the obvious, it's over 15 minutes long and you not only never get bored, but you're sad when it's over!
More people need to spread the word about this amazing treasure!

I am surprised no one has mentioned how Alec actually took the prologue...word for word from Shakespeare's play. Masterful integration with musical arrangements that captures the tension in the story along with harmonious blending of eternal love with orchestral precision

Costandinos here signs his masterpiece of his whole career! It was a huge hit in New York and topped the Billboard Disco charts back in 1978! I feel lucky to have this perfect work of art in vinyl.

I realized when I became older that disco/House was the precursor to club kids of the 90’s. Proud to say my mom was a club kid of the 70’s!! Love this song and the emotions attached to it. that is so refreshing to hear.when i was a kid i learned about and listen to what my parents were into when they were young....i always wished that kids today would do the same because there is so much great, classic music that shouldnt die.Disco was an important era in time. the music has influenced and transformed into todays music. it was one of the biggest music phenomenon in history that hasnt been seen since. This was a wonderful era for the Baby Boomers. We met our friends every Friday and Saturday night and we had our dance partners. Dancing 5 songs in a row was no big deal, did not even get tired. The girls wore beautiful dresses w/high heels and the guys wore suits.

AGREED! I noticed in some comments. other 70's Disco pioneers were mentioned. which credit is due to them as well. HOWEVER this arrangement. stands alone on the highest level of phrase.. just in the transitions that each tell a story. the other artist focused more on the sound & electronics which was the birth & DNA of what we now call EDM. Georgio gave us Donna Summer..he stands in a pillar all by him self with that achievement... this is underground disco at its best..not that Guido saturday night fever music. that was so over rated when the movie came out...music like this is what we really danced to in the clubs of the bronx...

I love everything about this album. The lyrics and the music. I was 29 when I first heard it. I still have the original album. The orchestra is magnificent. Best Disco music ever. I still listen to the album Romeo and Juliet by Alec R Costandinos on a regular basis. The long playing songs made the hustle dance popular in New York City and Long Island.

Francisco Echevarria I'm Cuban American as well. This type of disco music was the greatest of all. Cerrone, From East to West, Villager just to name a few. The people came to dance, well dressed, the lights, the increfibke chills of this music. One had to be there to understand just like you did. So glad those few years that disco lasted the will always be with us. Those glorious nights dancing to the closing.
