I’ve had my XTP for a few months now. And it’s a beast when locating PT’s Aluminum scraps etc and some serious corroded coins. It’s a good starter machine but I will definitely be upgrading soon to probably a Nox 800 or even the 900!

Beach 1 is for dry and wet sand, beach 2 is for surf and underwater. Can't see why so many people are having issues with this machine.....overpowering????Can't fault this machine on the beach,i run mine in beach 1,18 sensitivity,5 tones, recovery 1 with a slight threshold.
I've found the machine to give great depth, its highly sensitive, stable and gives stable signals on solid objects such as coins or rings.Never had an issue with all the signals been bad.....maybe your machine is faulty.I've found the iron discrim to be brilliant......its a cracking machine on the beach.

I just ran across your video and wondered if you was running it in Beach 1 or Beach 2? If you said that, I apologize (old man here that dont hear good as I use too😊) Beach 2 being for wet sand or surf. I'm about 3 hours from the gulf and haven't had the chance to try my XTP in the salty stuff yet. Run mine on 5 tone and like it pretty well on the dry land for relic and coins. Personally I dig it all on he beach anyway so I dont miss any gold jewelry. Thanks for the vid and I'll look out for more.

Just subscribed to your channel. Please do the same as we all learn from each other :)
I too have an X-Terra Pro and I find twice as many coins now that I have lowered the sensitivity. Use to run as much as possible 23 -25 max, but now run around 17 and dig up twice the amount of coins... especially nickels! Have you tried hitting a trashy area but at lower sensitivity? I picked up "50 coins" yesterday by doing this at our local trashy park in areas I've searched already. Tot lot scored 15 deep coins even at 17 sensitivity, VDI much improved too 😅

I went to the beach today with my xterra pro. WTF? All of my signals were between 85-97. ALL showed 5-6 triangles of depth. Dug, sifted, wanded with the pointer, found nothing, and the signal would disappear. OR. I would have a 1 foot hole dug, put the coil in it, and once again have a 94 signal with 5-6 triangles of depth! I did find nails, screws, and the normal trash on the surface. What is causing such huge signals, at such depth? With nothing there? I was running in beach 1 & 2, stabilized in both. Wondering if i am doing anything wrong? Or should i just throw the machine away since it was purchased online and returning these items always seems to get them “lost” in the mail.

Great for coin hunting in parks. Great depth, separation and it's super light. Have to learn it's quirks for sure. Vdi is pretty decent in ground that's not mineralized a lot but in ground with hi iron and mineralization you dig anything that's not iron because nickels may register a quarter, pennies like nickels and anywhere in between. It takes ml85 headphones not ml80 they won't work and idk where you can find the 85s at not to mention I've heard the price is close to what the Xterra cost. For the money though it's pretty hard to beat. It's more than a single frequency machine but not a multi which is better than not switchable to me

Forget the VDI and go with tones. DP is frustrating as it doesn't give you information tone wise. Look for $499 aus $ its amazing value. If minelab releases an update or 2 to fix the issues that would be awesome but don't hold your breath. I bought the XTPRO for underwater creeks and rivers. Also as a backup mainly. If minelab fixes the current issues it will be a great detector.

And Todd what is the sensitivity settings that you are using because I have mine at 12 Sensitivity and I'm still getting Targets that are from 4-6 inches deep but it hasn't really been raining all that much here and I don't want to get kicked out of the Park and leave any kind of brown spots of the Dead Grass that usually does happen when you Dig a bigger hole than what is needed for the targets and I have found that a update for the X-Terra Pro isn't that much needed when I just lowered the sensitivity down to accommodate the X-Terra Pro bounce back and the drier the ground is the more jumpy VDI is there And not many Detector's can be on Full Sensitivity and function without some falseing to happen but I'm New to the X-Terra Pro and I love it and No MORE iron quarter Tone's Targets from the Simplex + to get dug up.....

@carolrice2063 your spot on about sensitivity. I prefer target separation over depth in most cases. Sensitivity only comes into play on low trash sites or beach for greater depth. Most targets are between 1 and 6 inches.
I like 15khz as it's a good all round frequency. Nice on gold and silver.
Glad your enjoying the xterra pro. It's a great detector. Cheers
