- This is a tutorial on how to make the trademark Blade Runner sound in Native Instruments Massive. I didn't get the melody quite right, but it was only for demonstration anyway :)
The thing that is really key here is the attack on the cutoff and the large amount of reverb, so this can really be done quite easily in any multiple oscillator synth.
Hopefully you can get something out of watching this, enjoy!
Great tutorial, however if you put a slight detune on the two oscillators (say set the first one to 0.002 and the second to -0.08) and then put the resonance lower you get even closer to the original sound.
thank you! :)
Wow thanks!
you're very welcome! :D
thanks :)
good stuff will check out more of your videos now i found you nice and simple tutorial
thank you :)
can you give the ksd file in link? or PM
I'd say cut that resonance down by a TON.
What is the basic sound/patch you use before you tweak the hell out of it?
nobody ever mentions this in the video or description....
it's just the initialize patch on Massive
O k thanks
Cs80s are cringing everywhere, nice sound but really relaying on that reverb. massive can do some super thick brasses and strings.
Improvement: Detune the Second Oscillator by about 4 cents (or just disable it all together.)
Massive synth has a pre-programmed Blade Runner patch which is closer than this ....just saying!
Can you link to where I can buy it?
the original use SAW waves
I used saw waves...
I am a saw wav...
This is a Great tutorial lol!
What is that clipping noise...??? It's close, but there are much better out there. I'm betting Massive can do it better than this but it's still a decent sound.
I made this video about five years ago, definitely not the best tutorial out there :)
Hey at least you are still around to reply. Have you gotten really good at programming by now?
+alphazoom II haha well I'm definitely better than this I'd say, in my third year of studying music tech at uni! That EQing at the end is definitely a mess
Nice dude. Maybe you should make some new tutorials :D. Also you should use a mic and talk thru it as well. That really helps people understand things.
+alphazoom II yeah maybe! If I ever get around to it haha
