Gorgeous result Waveform! Thank you for sharing your technique and insight.
Thank you so much 😊
I love fm synthesis, and Dexed in particular. Great tutorial.
Cool, thanks!
What a beautiful voice this guy has…..
Fantastic work, insta-subbed.
Thanks for the sub!
Wow very good tutorial! Thanks for that!! You should create some more videos with Dexed FM sounds you are very gifted!!
Thanks Diamond Track!
@@waveform-synths I'm hoping there will come more Dexed Sound creating Tutorials! :))
Expect a comment of praise from Vangelis...!!!
Ever since the ASM Hydrasynth was released, the BR synth brass issue was resolved. Preset bank A 016 and you're good to go.
Love my Hydrasynth, and yes, in some ways, it does remind me of the CS80...
Arminator 2 is what you need.
Excellent!!! I love this ❤
Thank you so much!!
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
This is a completely awesome video! I am brand new to all of this so please excuse my somewhat ignorant question. How do you connect the Dexed to the Valhala? Are they both plugins into a DAWS software? Thank you.
Hi, Yes they are both plugins, so Dexed can send it's audio into Dexed by chaining them together in a DAW like Bitwig or Ableton, or via a send on all DAWs...
excellent✨👍
What do you think about Caustic 3 app for Android? Does it sounds good?
Sorry, not familiar with Android apps for music...
@@waveform-synthsthere's a free windows version of that app and an iOS version too. it even runs on Linux under wine. definitely worth checking out.
Great tutorial - thank you!
Glad to hear it - many thanks...
i never though you could get that sound with an fm synth. on the other hand fm synth, to me, are like chinese. i'm only learning my way around subtractive. when you know, you know.
on a different note, tons of great sounding free - or very cheap - vst synths out there. it's uncanny. even modest looking ones, interface wise, from years ago.
Thanks - I was around when FM first took off with the DX7 - the number of books I bought to try and geat my head round FM was unreal... just like learning another language!
I dont really understand why its such an achivement creating a synth sound from a film recorded in 1981 today in 2022. The amount of microprocessing powers has increased exponentially since then.
The DX7 arrived in the summer of 1983 so that machine is not involved in any way shape or form.
and what's the deal with this "Last Supper" painting anyway? I've got way better paints than that guy, I don't know why everyone thinks it's so impressive.
@@komojo😂
Such a GREAT video. Not only making a DX7 seem easy to program, but also showing how important to a final sound a good effect can be. This was awesome!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Well done, sir. Lesson learned: Never underestimate the power of envelope generators.
Dexed is an amazing free VST. This is so cool what you have done with it. Arminator 2 is also a very good one to emulate Blade Runner and Vangelis.
how to open valhala super massive with dexed?
Very interesting and really highlights the tiny tweaks necessary that can have a massive impact on a sound
Wow.
Wow
Ahhh damn the ME80 has no Mac version.
Can you show us how to get that pan flute at the begining?🔥🔥
Cool Idea for a future video - thanks!
@@waveform-synths thank you!⚡️
This may say more about me, and my ability to find stuff, than anything else.
But I was led here by my love for Bladerunner and the CS80.
But ended up watching the best exposition on (part of...) FM synthesis I've ever seen.
Thank you!
Why not use the Arminator VST? That's completely free as well as a really good CS-80 emulator. No need to go to all the trouble with FM synthesis, which is fundamentally _different_ from the substractive synthesis of the CS-80.
I mean, this is interesting and all, but then why not call the video *"CS-80 sounds from a DX-7"?*
Arminator is 32 Bit only I think, so that rules it out on my Cubase... I might have a play with it on Reaper if it's worth checking out...
Absolutely friggin amazing.
I never thought dexed could do this!
Wow, thanks!
love u bro
amazing, never thought that Dexed could make such a nice sound.
Thanks a lot Dude
Magical
beautiful thanks for sharing
Thank you! Cheers!
It's common for the VCA and VCF to be modulated by multiple sources, including an envelope, so the mixer that selects the envelope as a source can effectively set the level.
So not being able to set the level *on the envelope* doesn't matter.
fantastic! thanks for this awesome video. subscribed
Have you compared it with the latest CS80 version 4 from Arturia?
Yes! - The latest Arturia emulation seems much improved to these ears! :)
Friend, you're an absolute magician. Thanks for this...
Wow, thank you!
Its very helpful. And I love your voice! Valhalla is something great!
Thank you so much!
Awesome!! The Brass sound is very impressing.
Thanks a lot!
Thank you ! I'm lost in all the dials on synths but an ABC gets it rolling. Lovin the sound.
Glad you got something from it... :)
amazing man. Loved it. Thank you
Glad to hear it!
Thank you good sir!
Welcome!
Wow! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Really good stuff
Glad you enjoyed!
I downloaded memory moon but I don't see a setting for bladerunner brass, but I see everything else
Make sure you download the extra banks, or just copy the sliders on screen...
I'm having some issues trying to replicate this sound in ableton. I'm using the same plugins, but every time that I try to increase the level on 2 to get that nasally, brassy tone, it just doesn't get there. I've never done anything involving synths before so i am a bit clueless. Is there anything you think I should do?
Try again, step by step, making sure you initialise the patch first & have the correct algorithm selected - you should get there!
Omg this is so fun to play, and such a beautiful sound. Thank you so much for this great tutorial. You explained everything really well.
Very well done sir !
Thank you! Cheers!
