i think the "waking at a 11" frame might actually be "waking at all" which is a lot more grammatically sound, and also suits the idea of this character being stuck inside, trying to be productive, but always dealing with the fear and doubt and depression of this situation

I actually recognized this name right away and realized it was a dude I went to high school with who made this channel. I double checked and saw I was still following him on Instagram from back in the day. I was even the captain of our improv team that he was on, he was always a funny kid. He was a little younger than me but I remember when he first started posting his art online and it was generally agreed upon from the people that knew him that he was talented and had a special kind of style. Nice to see that he's made it places after graduating, but watching this now, I genuinely hope he's doing OK lol.
His name is Parker right? The channel used to upload different content and instead of the underscore in his name it was Parker. Then he got rid of his first name in his channel name, deleted all of his videos, and started uploading these ones.
This reminds me of a highly bizarre series of RPG's known as Hylics, that use a style of animation and rotoscoping with hands just like this. Makes me wonder if there was some inspiration taken. Like if Hylics went full horror.
Fun fact: Rotoscoping has been popular since the 70s at least. I'll have to look into Hylics. Have you seen Bakshi's works? A good starting point is "Bakshi and _The Lord of the Rings."_ It discusses his various works, but mostly the titular film, and as well, its heavy use of rotoscoping - to its success and its detriment. the "do something. anything." part reminded me a bit of my experiences with executive dysfunction. for the uninitiated, it's basically where you cannot physically make yourself do a thing even though your entire body is screaming at you to do it, like procrastination's horrible bastard twin from hell. it's common in many people with mental health struggles, and even outside that it's much harder to make yourself do things when you're in a rough mental state and lack the psychological bandwidth to do much other than survive

I've been awaiting a video on this series, I remember finding one of their videos in my recommended last year and being freaked out by the visuals. The videos look and feel like semi-confusing nightmares I had as a kid, definitely one of the best horror series I've ever watched.
I got freaked out by the visuals too lol. I couldn't watch a one full video because of it, I was terrified and confused on what was going on. I never got back to it until now and I am still terrified but I am fully committing to watching it.
It's weird to see projects that bring to life the feeling of depression, the lack of motivation and the internal conflict of it all, whilst being in a depressive state and not having motivation to do anything. They inspire and give hope, but at the same time you just... Don't want to do anything.
I have just watched my depression as video art. The contradictions, the internal struggle, the mental torture I inflict on myself, the desire to feel understood and accepted, the feeling of pointlessness but not quite being able to give up hope that if you try one more time something might change but knowing it never will.
i think the spikey character who ive decided to call "continue" is the creators positive self, the persona, but the flat headed monster is his doubt and negativity, his shadow, "quit"
Although I don't think the white one - which is definitely the _boisvert's persona - has an official name, the triangle head one is called Room. Also the doglike character that you first see in the "Continue" video is The Quilled God, and I'm pretty sure the thing introduced in "I Met a Beautiful Angel" evolves into a character called Complex in a video of the same name (although I might be getting that wrong). There's a really good plot that builds up in boisvert's work if you watch the videos and scour for the QR codes

_Boivert really is spot on with portraying how it is to life with depression and urges to hurt yourself and watching it is so comforting because its truly one of those media that actually makes me feel less alone somewhat
Holy shit, not often does work you cover hit me so close to home that I end up tearing up, but this project did that. As an extrovert with severe mental health issues, including recently developed agoraphobia, a couple of parts of the project really made me feel.... less alone in my disaster I try to call a life. Thank you for introducing me to this
I was constantly trying to get my friends to watch the series, and none of them ended up really watching the videos, so watching this be shown on a bigger UA-cam channel makes me really happy
I love their videos look like something straight out of a horror RPG out of the early 2000's. It's nice to see more people finding this small series and it getting the recognition it deserves.
I find this piece not only very beautiful, but I also find it very soothing. As someone who is going through some very hard and dark times, I take solace in seeing kind of how I feel inside brought to light. I'm not sure if the artist intended this, but I would honestly love to shake their hand and thank them.
Honestly? As much as I love the theory that this series is based around isolation due to the recent pandemic, I believe that this series is based around agoraphobia and/or social anxiety and maybe PTSD. Am I projecting? Maybe. But let me try to explain. I've been diagnosed with social anxiety formally by a mental health professional when I was around 14, and my struggles with it have lead me to believe that I might have undiagnosed agoraphobia (for those who don't know, agoraphobia is the fear of entering certain social situations where escape or comfort is impossible; so much so that some people are afraid to leave their house). I'm pretty much a shut-in, but its not by my own choice. Going outside beings back memories of past traumatic events I've been through, and it makes me afraid that I might deal with more trauma. Even worse is that I'm still pretty much a kid; I'm 18 and I have my whole life ahead of me, yet I physically *can't* go outside without being on edge and afraid. Even *worse* is that I have sensory issues stemming from the fact that I'm autistic. Loud noises and large crowds be damned. How does this tie into Biosvert? I'll just go over the first episode since I don't want to get too rambly. The first episode surrounds a white horned creature doing their daily tasks while trying to ignore the black triangle-headed creature in their basement. Simple, right? Well, I believe that the triangle-headed creature (who I'll call Black from now on) is a physical representation of White's agoraphobia. White tries to live a normal and productive life while celebrating the small victories (waking up early, staying productive, exercising, ect), all the while trying to avoid social situations, ie, the noises in the basement/Black. Eventually White goes into the basement and encounters Black, which could represent White having to go outside and enter social situations for whatever reason you can think of. Black's monologue is just White's thoughts while they try to manage through a social situation ("Do you even know what day it is? When did you last go outside? When did you last see your friends? Your family?). The video cuts to black after the monologue, which could be interpertied any which way; did White leave the social situation to return home? Did they end up not going outside after all? Its up to you to decide. And after all of this, I'll say again that this is my personal interpertation of Boisvert. Feel free to agree/disagree/tell me your theories/ect. All I ask is that you don't pity me for dealing with what I'm going through Edit: I normally don't edit comments, but its been about seven months since I've posted this comment. I'm doing a lot better in life now!; I've started college, I now have a loving partner, I've finally come to the conclusion that I'm AroSpec, and I'm going to be turning 19 in about 9 days. Things *do* get better
Tbh, that is a very valid interpretation I'd say? Just because it's one thing for many people doesn't mean it can't be this thing for someone else. I hope you'll find a way to face your issues and live a life you will enjoy as much as you can :) There can always be little steps to be made, and I hope you'll be able to get in touch (or if you are already, have good steady progress) with a mental health specialist that will get you where you want to be, be it where it be.

I'm loving the look of this series! And given its name ("green wood") and the demonic/monstrous look to many of the characters, it sort of evokes Sir Gawain and the Green Knight to me.

okay for the first video i think it’s so cool that since the background of the live action part is white and the being is black, when it suddenly flips to the empty black screen, you can still see the outline. i doubt it was intentional but i think that adds to the level of creepy

One of the reasons i love Nick's channel is the dichotomy between the presentation and the subject material. That soothing voice describing some of the most awful things that can happen. Really smacks ya with the confusotron.
This is, without a doubt, my favorite personal art project on UA-cam. Unnerving and so much to unpack, with characters that have no explanation. Yet there's a connection through the art and music that conveys so much about each one.
It's strange that people haven't covered this series. The way I discovered it was at school on the youtube recommended page. I wasn't logged into an account to I found it extremely surprising to see this covering the page. I couldn't find it again until now, so thanks for covering it :]

Oooh, this series looks incredibly interesting. Neat fact, Bois in french is most oftenly translated to "Woods," and Vert is the french word for the color green, so the name "Boisvert" or "Bois Vert" could be translated as green woods. Not sure how connected it is with the seemingly urban environment, but the symbolism of the mind being a forest of thoughts, lost in green leaves of fertility, yet filled with darkness and secrets seems right at home with the videos' messages. As NM said; entrancing and horrifying is a great way to put both these series and those green woods. Aside from that, the series gives off many of the same vibes of the game Hylics and its sequel, which has claymation that's also both horrifying and entrancing. I'll have to keep an eye on this series for sure!
Seeing a lot of stuff connected with trees popping up (either new content or just new-to-me) lately. The Special Trees in the Monument Mythos, _Boisvert (green woods, as you mentioned), (MINOR SPOILERS for the works of Garage Heathen follow) the Sycamore Forest in "Your Amazing T-Gotchi!" and its more fleshed-out counterpart in "Who's Lila?"...
To be slightly more precise, "bois vert" is wood that's still full of sap, either freshly cut or still attached to the "tree". All I really remember is you are not meant to burn it (by opposition to "bois sec", dry wood). As far as symbolism, it would mean young.

boisvert has been one of my favorite creators, that comforts me that im not alone in the experiences I have. and that there are people like me that experience things the way I do.
I found that channel at the beginning of this year and I LOVED it, I highly reccomend it. IMPORTANT: if you check them out TURN ON SUBTITLES (if non automatic are available), there's often hidden things in the subtitles and it helps hear things that are hard to understand

Im gonna be honest, Boisvert has been a great comfort to me as someone with biipolar disorder, his videos remind me a lot about how i constantly feel with the disorder and the struggle that every day life is especially on parties and the like, its grueling knowing that if you make one mistake socially it can ruin you for life especially if no one knows that you have a condition
The hidden QR codes in the later videos blew my mind. There’s more than enough content here for a full deep dive for sure (which feels nuts for an 18 minute runtime)

the french names, black-and-white uncanny art style, and the general absurdity of the series HIGHLY reminds me of the french indie rpg "OFF" (which you should play btw). when the whispering started in the last video i thought it was a direct reference! the overworld hub in the game is this dark void where the only audio playing is a bunch of mumbled french whispering, and a few "sssshhhhhh"s. regardless, these videos are so creative!! i love shit like this
When I think of Boisvert, my mind inevitably goes to the most recent video, A_Love_Letter. The only way I can truly describe it is beautiful. I can't wait to see more from this artist.

"Entirely Beloved" is my favorite video from _Boivert. Their work is so cathartic to me somehow, like seeing everything that scares and stresses me out in my daily life is illustrated by them the way I perceive it. Scared of myself, scared of those around me, and scared of the emotions I feel. The way they animate and draw so perfectly resembles the terror that I feel to all those things. The recognition of these fears in such a beautifully executed manner helps to ease the pain of such things.
this is so wonderfully creepy and kinda inspired. so I'm partially deaf and so I couldn't really understand the audio so the CC really helps! I love things that are visually disturbing and the more spastic the movements are the creepier I think they are. the art style and mixed elements are so amazing
They remind me of the kind of videos that would play on the tv screens all over certain kind of bars and clubs back in like the 80s and 90s. They really cool. And WOW when that first one turned in to that crazy beat!!!

It's distrubing, gifable, templateable and weird just like any of the evolutions in the past year like Mr Incredible becoming un/canny or Rage Faces becoming surreal.
of all videos that i could watch at 2am on a school night im glad i picked this one! j wanted to drop my interpretation rlly quick :) watching this, it’s very reminiscent to my personal experiences with trauma, displaying an individual who struggles to take care of themselves, but has periods of trying to be better about self-care, yet they remain aware of their trauma, physically represented as the shadow version of themselves, and decide to attempt to ignore it, hoping they’ll be able to forget about it soon enough. however, as they neglect to acknowledge their trauma, it begins to effect them more and more significantly over time, making it hard for them to do daily tasks, to do anything. in addition, their trauma’s physical representation grows as the amount of influence it has on the victim, which i believe symbolizes the growth/development of symptoms, as they begin to become nearly debilitating. when it’s brought up that it’s, “been a year,” it could be referring to the time since the traumatic experience occurred, and we can assume that over the year, the trauma has developed into a sort of corrupted physical representation that now has genuine power over how victim lives their daily life, as well as their physical bodies, resulting in depression, a lack of motivation, and paranoia, that physically affect them. as for the religious references, i presume that this is to help represent the trauma itself, and as an individual with religious trauma, the depictions really resonated in me, reminding me of when i was a little girl, going to church on sunday mornings, knowing the when the weekend ended, i’d go right back to my grandmother’s house and have to face my abuser. i’ve never really identified with christianity myself, due to the main place the abuse taking place being in a bible study, and not just a bible study, but my southern baptist church pastor grandfather’s bible study. it really had a negative impact on me to engage in a religion that represents my trauma , but it’s the social standard, (and my family’s standard, but i digress,) where i live, and i felt ashamed to not be able to fit in with my family, friends, and peers. the only time i’ve had to be placed in a psychiatric facility was the last year i ended up going to church, and it’s mainly because of the consistent trauma triggers, along with the fact that that was the last year of the abuse i faced, leading to a mental breakdown while i was at school and the counselor had to get involved. i was 13 then, but it’s since been nearly 5 years, and my trauma still effects me each and everyday, and i strongly relate to the individual depicted in these works, experiencing complete burnout, struggling to get out of bed, to take care of myself at all, and it’s as if my trauma takes over me, physically restraining me from being able to function and perform even basic tasks. i believe the individual is experiencing the same thing, but their trauma is depicted as a physical being that has the power to effect it’s victim on a physical plane. alright,, i spent an hour writing that, i’m gonna knock out now :)

This reminds me of a highly bizarre series of RPG's known as Hylics, that use a style of animation and rotoscoping with hands just like this. Makes me wonder if there was some inspiration taken. Like if Hylics went full horror.
Fun fact: Rotoscoping has been popular since the 70s at least. I'll have to look into Hylics. Have you seen Bakshi's works? A good starting point is "Bakshi and _The Lord of the Rings."_ It discusses his various works, but mostly the titular film, and as well, its heavy use of rotoscoping - to its success and its detriment.

the "do something. anything." part reminded me a bit of my experiences with executive dysfunction. for the uninitiated, it's basically where you cannot physically make yourself do a thing even though your entire body is screaming at you to do it, like procrastination's horrible bastard twin from hell. it's common in many people with mental health struggles, and even outside that it's much harder to make yourself do things when you're in a rough mental state and lack the psychological bandwidth to do much other than survive
Procrastination: I don't want to do it so I'll do something else
Executive dysfunction: I want to do it and can't get my body to move

webcrawler in the context of SCP implies a program or person who crawls the internet looking for or detecting stuff that needs to be taken down/censored/etc, the use of the text in the video implies it was censored or removed by the webcrawler. But nick _being_ an anomalous webcrawler, which has taken to documenting stuff online instead of taking anything down or reporting it to the SCP foundation, is a great idea :)

I've been awaiting a video on this series, I remember finding one of their videos in my recommended last year and being freaked out by the visuals. The videos look and feel like semi-confusing nightmares I had as a kid, definitely one of the best horror series I've ever watched.

It's weird to see projects that bring to life the feeling of depression, the lack of motivation and the internal conflict of it all, whilst being in a depressive state and not having motivation to do anything. They inspire and give hope, but at the same time you just... Don't want to do anything.

The contradictions, the internal struggle, the mental torture I inflict on myself, the desire to feel understood and accepted, the feeling of pointlessness but not quite being able to give up hope that if you try one more time something might change but knowing it never will.
i think the spikey character who ive decided to call "continue" is the creators positive self, the persona, but the flat headed monster is his doubt and negativity, his shadow, "quit"
Although I don't think the white one - which is definitely the _boisvert's persona - has an official name, the triangle head one is called Room. Also the doglike character that you first see in the "Continue" video is The Quilled God, and I'm pretty sure the thing introduced in "I Met a Beautiful Angel" evolves into a character called Complex in a video of the same name (although I might be getting that wrong). There's a really good plot that builds up in boisvert's work if you watch the videos and scour for the QR codes

Holy shit, not often does work you cover hit me so close to home that I end up tearing up, but this project did that. As an extrovert with severe mental health issues, including recently developed agoraphobia, a couple of parts of the project really made me feel.... less alone in my disaster I try to call a life. I love their videos look like something straight out of a horror RPG out of the early 2000's. It's nice to see more people finding this small series and it getting the recognition it deserves.
I find this piece not only very beautiful, but I also find it very soothing. As someone who is going through some very hard and dark times, I take solace in seeing kind of how I feel inside brought to light. I'm not sure if the artist intended this, but I would honestly love to shake their hand and thank them.
Honestly? As much as I love the theory that this series is based around isolation due to the recent pandemic, I believe that this series is based around agoraphobia and/or social anxiety and maybe PTSD. Am I projecting? Maybe. But let me try to explain.
I've been diagnosed with social anxiety formally by a mental health professional when I was around 14, and my struggles with it have lead me to believe that I might have undiagnosed agoraphobia (for those who don't know, agoraphobia is the fear of entering certain social situations where escape or comfort is impossible; so much so that some people are afraid to leave their house). I'm pretty much a shut-in, but its not by my own choice. Going outside beings back memories of past traumatic events I've been through, and it makes me afraid that I might deal with more trauma. Even worse is that I'm still pretty much a kid; I'm 18 and I have my whole life ahead of me, yet I physically *can't* go outside without being on edge and afraid. Even *worse* is that I have sensory issues stemming from the fact that I'm autistic. Loud noises and large crowds be damned.
How does this tie into Biosvert? I'll just go over the first episode since I don't want to get too rambly.
The first episode surrounds a white horned creature doing their daily tasks while trying to ignore the black triangle-headed creature in their basement. Simple, right? Well, I believe that the triangle-headed creature (who I'll call Black from now on) is a physical representation of White's agoraphobia. White tries to live a normal and productive life while celebrating the small victories (waking up early, staying productive, exercising, ect), all the while trying to avoid social situations, ie, the noises in the basement/Black.
Eventually White goes into the basement and encounters Black, which could represent White having to go outside and enter social situations for whatever reason you can think of. Black's monologue is just White's thoughts while they try to manage through a social situation ("Do you even know what day it is? When did you last go outside? When did you last see your friends? Your family?). The video cuts to black after the monologue, which could be interpertied any which way; did White leave the social situation to return home? Did they end up not going outside after all? Its up to you to decide.
And after all of this, I'll say again that this is my personal interpertation of Boisvert. Feel free to agree/disagree/tell me your theories/ect. All I ask is that you don't pity me for dealing with what I'm going through

I'm doing a lot better in life now!; I've started college, I now have a loving partner, I've finally come to the conclusion that I'm AroSpec, and I'm going to be turning 19 in about 9 days. I'm loving the look of this series! And given its name ("green wood") and the demonic/monstrous look to many of the characters, it sort of evokes Sir Gawain and the Green Knight to me.

One of the reasons i love Nick's channel is the dichotomy between the presentation and the subject material. That soothing voice describing some of the most awful things that can happen. Really smacks ya with the confusotron.
This is, without a doubt, my favorite personal art project on UA-cam. Unnerving and so much to unpack, with characters that have no explanation. Yet there's a connection through the art and music that conveys so much about each one.

Oooh, this series looks incredibly interesting. Neat fact, Bois in french is most oftenly translated to "Woods," and Vert is the french word for the color green, so the name "Boisvert" or "Bois Vert" could be translated as green woods. Not sure how connected it is with the seemingly urban environment, but the symbolism of the mind being a forest of thoughts, lost in green leaves of fertility, yet filled with darkness and secrets seems right at home with the videos' messages. As NM said; entrancing and horrifying is a great way to put both these series and those green woods.
Aside from that, the series gives off many of the same vibes of the game Hylics and its sequel, which has claymation that's also both horrifying and entrancing. I'll have to keep an eye on this series for sure!

To be slightly more precise, "bois vert" is wood that's still full of sap, either freshly cut or still attached to the "tree". All I really remember is you are not meant to burn it (by opposition to "bois sec", dry wood).
As far as symbolism, it would mean young.
French here, bois vert refers to wood that still has fresh sap in it, making it unfit for lighting a fire.

Im gonna be honest, Boisvert has been a great comfort to me as someone with biipolar disorder, his videos remind me a lot about how i constantly feel with the disorder and the struggle that every day life is especially on parties and the like, its grueling knowing that if you make one mistake socially it can ruin you for life especially if no one knows that you have a condition

the french names, black-and-white uncanny art style, and the general absurdity of the series HIGHLY reminds me of the french indie rpg "OFF" (which you should play btw). when the whispering started in the last video i thought it was a direct reference! the overworld hub in the game is this dark void where the only audio playing is a bunch of mumbled french whispering, and a few "sssshhhhhh"s.

"Entirely Beloved" is my favorite video from _Boivert. Their work is so cathartic to me somehow, like seeing everything that scares and stresses me out in my daily life is illustrated by them the way I perceive it. Scared of myself, scared of those around me, and scared of the emotions I feel. The way they animate and draw so perfectly resembles the terror that I feel to all those things. The recognition of these fears in such a beautifully executed manner helps to ease the pain of such things.

I love things that are visually disturbing and the more spastic the movements are the creepier I think they are. the art style and mixed elements are so amazing

It's distrubing, gifable, templateable and weird just like any of the evolutions in the past year like Mr Incredible becoming un/canny or Rage Faces becoming surreal.
of all videos that i could watch at 2am on a school night im glad i picked this one! j wanted to drop my interpretation rlly quick :) watching this, it’s very reminiscent to my personal experiences with trauma, displaying an individual who struggles to take care of themselves, but has periods of trying to be better about self-care, yet they remain aware of their trauma, physically represented as the shadow version of themselves, and decide to attempt to ignore it, hoping they’ll be able to forget about it soon enough. however, as they neglect to acknowledge their trauma, it begins to effect them more and more significantly over time, making it hard for them to do daily tasks, to do anything. in addition, their trauma’s physical representation grows as the amount of influence it has on the victim, which i believe symbolizes the growth/development of symptoms, as they begin to become nearly debilitating. when it’s brought up that it’s, “been a year,” it could be referring to the time since the traumatic experience occurred, and we can assume that over the year, the trauma has developed into a sort of corrupted physical representation that now has genuine power over how victim lives their daily life, as well as their physical bodies, resulting in depression, a lack of motivation, and paranoia, that physically affect them. as for the religious references, i presume that this is to help represent the trauma itself, and as an individual with religious trauma, the depictions really resonated in me, reminding me of when i was a little girl, going to church on sunday mornings, knowing the when the weekend ended, i’d go right back to my grandmother’s house and have to face my abuser. i’ve never really identified with christianity myself, due to the main place the abuse taking place being in a bible study, and not just a bible study, but my southern baptist church pastor grandfather’s bible study. it really had a negative impact on me to engage in a religion that represents my trauma , but it’s the social standard, (and my family’s standard, but i digress,) where i live, and i felt ashamed to not be able to fit in with my family, friends, and peers. the only time i’ve had to be placed in a psychiatric facility was the last year i ended up going to church, and it’s mainly because of the consistent trauma triggers, along with the fact that that was the last year of the abuse i faced, leading to a mental breakdown while i was at school and the counselor had to get involved. i was 13 then, but it’s since been nearly 5 years, and my trauma still effects me each and everyday, and i strongly relate to the individual depicted in these works, experiencing complete burnout, struggling to get out of bed, to take care of myself at all, and it’s as if my trauma takes over me, physically restraining me from being able to function and perform even basic tasks. i believe the individual is experiencing the same thing, but their trauma is depicted as a physical being that has the power to effect it’s victim on a physical plane. alright,, i spent an hour writing that, i’m gonna knock out now :)
7:00 Something I don't think you caught, although most people wouldn't know this on average, is that the player is evicting only from doors without the red X--this seems to be a reference to Moses in the Bible, where he told the Hebrews to mark their doors with an X in lamb blood to make sure the Angel of Death didn't enter their homes.
