I don't understand why they created the ATF to begin with.
Alcohol is a drug, and should come under the DEA, unless it is about taxes, then it should be the treasury department in control.
Same with tobacco, it is a drug, and if it is a tax issue, then the treasury department should be in control.
But firearms are a right of the people, and should have no control by anyone, but the people!
It was under Treasury until the post 9/11 reshuffling. ATF was for enforcement of tax law.
Because alcohol, tobacco and guns ( via the NFA) were subject to federal taxes. Taxation was the only (barely)constitutional way Toto control guns.
It was about taxes. They started to declare themselves the Gestapo under Big Bush and it was cemented under Clinton. Then written into law after 9/11 by Little Bush.
Take the guns away from them. Set them up to regulate the A and T along with pot, turn them into the ATM.
Because our great grand parents grand parents, parents and ourselves are asleep at the wheel.
There are limits to all rights, deal with it.

@thegameroftheyear4751 Considering what convoluted absurdity the AFT has gone to determine what a machine gun is (such as a rubber band, paper clip, drawing, etc.), it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to declare body armor to be weapons.

I hadn't ever wanted body armor, I got tired of it in the army and never saw any reason to have any body armor.
But not to long ago some political person in my state attempted to ban body armor for normal average citizens. So I bought myself body armor, bought my brother in law body armor, and some other family members body armor. I broke my savings a bit but it was worth it lol.
I got the expensive multi hit, the steel plates, and soft stuff. I mean. I went full out for all of us lol. I even got helmets and visors. Because why not. Just because that guy said I shouldn't have it I had to make sure myself and everybody in my direct family had it.

Where was the NRA when they passed this same law in NJ years ago!!!! We have been living with getting a permission card to buy anything, and for every handgun you have to apply for a separate permit. One every 30 days, and only 5 per year!!!!!! were is anyone helping with this!!!!

Canadian vet ( gunsmith) here. Those High Powers aren't worth saving. They are referred to as the 9 mm musket - not 1 has rifling. The good ones have long since been shot the ever living $#!T out of and the worst ones fall apart in the box before you pick them up. Unfortunately they are beyond restoration.
