I have another 😂When I first joined Royal mail in 77 just 6 years after George and Pattie left Esher the guys at the office having found out I had a keen interest in The Beatles would regale many stories of their experiences of delivering mail to Kinfauns, a couple of examples being the antics the schoolgirls from nearby Claremont school (about 50 paces from kinfauns imagine that ?) where they would try and scale the enormous gate that was about 12ft high or on other occasions cover the gate in graffiti of messages and drawings of undying love some of which can still be seen today (it is rumoured that a Beatle or two added the odd sentence just for a laugh) but one of the funniest stories was of the time a postie arrived at the bungalow with a recorded letter which needed a signature before being handed over and on getting no response to the front door bell the postman stepped back heard a noise looked up and saw George sitting cross legged on the roof painting flowers onto the slates ,the trouble was George who it was suggested looked a little like he was away with the fairies at that moment didn't want to come down to sign for the letter in case he might fall so the postman had to take it up to him 😂😂. I had better explain about the flowers on the roof which I know must sound very odd but the bungalow though originally all white was now in a state of having a make-over by George's own hand (in much the same way he transformed Rocky) he had decided to psychedelically paint the white walls after it is again rumoured that Mick and Marianne had turned up one day only to find him not in so had daubed a message on the wall to let him know of their visit ? (who knows it was the 60s ).lastly as a footnote to the Psychedelic period, George sold Kinfauns to Barry mason a well known songwriter at the time who in turn sold it to an elderly couple (a retired managing director of British Leyland)who couldn't live with the 8ft high fireplace that had been so beautifully decorated by the Fool it was very big and very colourful, way too colourful for their taste so they painted it white. The whole thing, it would probably be worth a fortune today.

You mention in your video of locations and how they are found for filming, this job would be carried out by a locations manager presumably they have similar for videos, however in the case of Pauls Waterfalls video part of that was filmed in a place called Claremont lake in Esher surrey (the bit where Paul walks down a slope and steps onto a merry-go-round) behind him in the background can be seen what is I believe called a Folly (merry-go-round long gone, Folly still there) Well that location idea could have possibly been Pauls as he and the other 3 Beatles spent a pleasant afternoon in the park when they were recording the Kinfauns tapes (rehearsals of the white album) as George only lived a short distance away on the Claremont estate in nearby Claremont lane Esher, apparently Paul (and Linda ) possessed amazing memories for names and faces so its possible he had one for places too, annoyingly I only found out about the shoot several days after the event. I was a postman in Esher at the time and word would spread amongst us posties as to what was happening locally but I do remember as I passed the lake on my way home to Cobham seeing the trailer that would have been used for Paul to chill out in between takes. P.S where do you get your energy from I could do with some of that, so much work and travelling involved thank you and very well done👍

My daughter and I always listen for the very first Christmas song we hear for the season on the radio! It’s a silly tradition between us, and McCartney’s song is usually the very first one played here in the US!
I think it’s a safe one to play early in November, with it’s POP sound, and less ‘traditional than the usual ‘I’m-a-poor-boy-bar-rump-a-bump-bump’ stuff that is more safely played in December!
You know, the actual month that the Holiday occurs in!
Do you guys in Britain have earlier and earlier Christmas programs each year, Tudor? We here in the US get Christmas earlier and earlier every year it seems!
Wait a minute, A Wonderful Christmas Time is playing! I have to go shopping for Christmas gifts, brother! It’s never too early, ya know!😉❤️

    • @TudorSmith

lol! All seasons start early in the U.K. Valentine’s Day is pushed early January. As soon as that’s over, Easter eggs hit the stores (usually 6-8 before Easter) and you can bet the first Christmas advert on the TV is usually early to mid November.
I have a game with my FB friends. The winner is the last person who hears WHAMS! “Last Christmas”. You hear it in a public place, then you’re out of the game 🤣
I will add though that my favourite Christmas tune is Chris Rea’s “Driving home for Christmas”. It’s so smooth!

Your right stories such as these do make for a good read sadly most that I know are 2nd or 3rd hand all allegedly or apparently, however I do have a couple of 1st hand that I could share, one involves Paul McCartney and my elder sister Anne whom he gallantly stopped and let across the road with her pram at the bottom of what was locally known as Tartar Hill on the old A3 as he was travelling through Cobham surrey, So on hearing this as I cycled home for lunch each day I would scour the traffic for a dark green Rolls Royce convertible hoping I too would be as lucky and lo and behold though it took about 2 weeks there he was roughly at the same spot as with my sister, this being the late 60s it could have been possible he was on his way to Weybridge to visit Cynthia at the time of John moving out ?. My other story begins with my younger sister Cecilia returning home from a charity cricket match that was held in the 80s in Ripley surrey (a couple of miles from Cobham and incidentally the birthplace of Eric Clapton who had actually organized the match ) she informed me that Ringo had been there so despite the fact that it was by now 5.30pm both myself and my girlfriend who I later married jumped in the car and shot over there luckily to find the match still in progress ,we had to cross a large green area to get to the pavilion and in my haste to get to see Ringo literally stepped over Barry Gibb who was lying on the grass with friends totally ignoring him (what the ??!?!??) anyway we got to the pavilion where we saw Bill Wyman on his way out to bat passing both Eric and Ringo as he did so, sadly not being close enough to ask Ringo myself I had to ask Kenny Jones (faces drummer ) to get it for me which incredibly he did, it goes to show how excited I was at getting the autograph from Ringo that it didn't occur to me to get anyone else's ?? what a fool !!

Unfortunately, for a long time the LPs in charity shops are exactly what you saw at 20:45. All that was missing was one of the dozens of Shirley Bassey compilations and concert albums. @@TudorSmith It used to be the warbleton in-tun-inn but has since changed names...nothing beatles related inside...but once while I was in there I got chatting to an old local...he remembers the day Lennon turned up in his psychedelic Rolls and a host of celebrities came into the pub...
Just a little story to add...I was taking photos of Epsteins house...the gates were open I ventured up the drive...very close to the house I could hear very loud angry abusive voices...from the grounds of the house a very irate gentleman confronted me with verbal abuse...after carefully de-escating the situation he calmed and then went on to tell me he was the caretaker of the house...an American now owns the house...he then said have you seen the pics of John & Paul on deckchair type lounge chairs in the garden...well I'm the idiot who cleared the barn and shed and had a bonfire with all the contents...he then went on to add that the upstairs bedroom has remained unaltered since that day in 67...psychedelic murals and art work by John on the walls and believe it or not musical instruments and recording equipment left behind on that day
Hope that made sense and apologies for my poor grammar and punctuation
      John

John, what an excellent anecdote. I suspect Kingsley Hill and all other Beatle related homes will always come under "fan" scrutiny - so no wonder the caretaker was on edge. I love hearing other people's stories. Thanks for sharing 👍
