    I am a Silverado owner. On my third Chevy truck. My 1996 Silverado 2500 was a great truck until it was totaled in an accident. The best truck I owned was the 02 Avalanche that I had for 17 years in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. But my 2014 is rusting out big time. Just test drove two used Nissan Frontiers, a 2021 and a 2023, and both drove really great. Being retired and on a fixed income, I need reliability as the 14 Silverado has 150,000 and is basically falling apart mechanically and because of rust. The Frontier is a lot less expensive than used Tacomas are. The only Tacomas I can afford are the 2-wheel drive one with the smaller cab. I need 4x4! As for the 2025 Nissan, I probably can’t afford a new one, but the changes in the body really don’t matter. I don’t need a pretty pavement princess truck, I just need one that will stand up to winter conditions and being used like a truck. Fancy wheel packages are useless. Give me basic and durable!

      Sad that GM falls Apart that soon. You might like to see the Million Mile Frontier on TFL truck channel. A Million work miles in Chicago!
      I bought a used Nissan Hardbody with 204,000 miles, and apparently it was just getting started. 428,000 now. Using it most every day. Most work on it has been standard maintenance.

    Nissan gets judged very harshly comparing to the other manufacturers. They do nothing they get criticized, they do something they get criticized. Overall I think the refresh looks really good. More plastics means less rock chips, only thing I would say they messed up on was the placement of the frontier badging on the dash. Should have been smaller and off to the side. That’s it, imma a mechanic and I am telling you this drivetrain will be the GOAT 20 years from now when turbos are failing left right and center on the other. Can’t wait to buy a 2025 used with 10k miles for 38-39k

      Unless you need a 6 foot bed in a Pro trim, there is very little changes in the 2025 that would justify it over a 2024 that given the deals that can be found and a lower MSRP. A 2025 is going to cost $5-7k more than a 2024 can be had for right now.

    What baffles me is these 4 cylinder turbos get worse MPG than the Frontier.

    • @RareGenXer
      @RareGenXer Місяць тому +5

      Correct. The small displacement turbo engines almost universally used now is designed for one thing and one thing only: To meet the ridiculously stringent EPA CAFA fuel economy regulations by NOT having the turbo kick-in on the test cycle. But in the real-world driving, the turbo is kicking in all the time, sucking fuel worse than a comparably powered NA engine. Doesn't matter. It was designed to pass the test. But at least you get a more expensive, complex and less reliable engine with much worse driving dynamics that a NA engine. That's liberal government bureaucrats at work for us.

    • @clarkkent9080
      @clarkkent9080 26 днів тому +2

      There have been comparisons (TFL) between the Nissan V6 and all the other turbo models and in a normal driving loop, the V6 does get lower fuel economy as would be expected. But it is only ~2 mpg less and that is acceptable to me. I own a 2024 Pro-X

      @@chrisheiderscheit7077 Not sure what that means. Towing more than the manufacturer recommends can cause overheating and reduced longevity. Since all trailers over 2k lbs are required to have brakes, it should not effect braking and pulling too heavy a load will reduce your top speed, so I don't see where it could cause an accident. We are talking about 500 lbs here and I have never heard of an insurance company immediately coming to the scene of an accident and weighing a trailer and vehicle contents to determine if GVWR was exceeded. My point is simply that 2022-2024 have been underrated by 500 lbs. Towing capacity is affected by outside temperature and elevation. The real limit on towing capacity is tongue weight and oil/trans temps.

    2016 to 2019 was the peek FRONTIER. Fuel Efficiency improvements have been insignificant. Styling is not really improvement. I like the manual transmission option, switch gear and thank God for the integrated satellite navigation screen. Subwoofer under front passenger seat made deep rich sounds. All of these trucks are used commercially in construction sites or security patrols, idling 4 to 6 hours per day so a smaller engine option would make sense. Maybe three litres or so producing around 200 horsepower/torque getting 20/30mpg.

    All the new extra options were on the Nissan Maxima. Had a 16 & a 23. Some of those options were annoying. They just didn't belong on a truck. Traded in the 23 Maxima for a 24 Pro x-4. Simpler and the v6 is great.

    What good is a V6 with no payload? The #1 reason I would never buy this truck is the payload rating. A loaded Pro4X short bed barely has 1000 pounds of payload which is pathetic, and the new long bed P4X will be much lower than that. Calm down, Nissan isn't bucking the EPA. They're keeping the V6 because they can't afford to develop a new engine. Nissan has been on the brink of bankruptcy for years.

    I have 2024 SV 4x4 Long Bed with the convenience and technology packages, spray in bed liner with the utili-track system. What a nice truck. My second Frontier. I would have bought the Pro 4X, but it only came with a short bed. Show stopper for me. Interesting, Nissan did a refresh for 2025. Nissan did next to nothing on the Gen 2 Frontier your years. I think they smell blood in the water because of the issues Toyota is having with their Tundra's and buyers not thrilled with the 4-banger in the Tacoma.

    Of the 4..Colorado, Tacoma, Frontier and Ranger, I love the v6. Most assume Toyota and then Nissan are the trucks to get. Unfortunately, the Nissan felt dated, and the steering felt heavy and was terrible in the city or just trying to park. Underway It was louder and not nearly as comfortable as the Colorado or Ranger. The V6 is reliable but lacked that punch of the turbo but I realize that's the trade off . Then we got to the interiors and the seats, materials, ergonomics, tech were the best in the Ranger and the size was larger than the rest especially in the rear with the Frontier being the smallest. Towing and payload are important and all 4 would work but again the Ford did excellent and the size of the This is a truck that I am buying for a long-term employee and close friend and the reliability and price point on the Nissan was the best by about 1500.00 along with lower financing. I ended up with a 2wd Ranger XLT w sport package, tech and towing 500.00 under invoice. It just felt the best overall in this tight segment and I was sure I was going to get the Toyota or Nissan.

More plastic, but most painted fronts ends suffer the most stone chips. I like the black on the tailgate, but wasn't really needed. A decal would have been better than the obtrusive plastic thing that sticks out and will just collect salt and dust behind it. A place for corrosion to start and ha e that annoying "seepage" of crap running down the everytime it rains or when you wash it. Now, I hope they don't increase the price anymore. Vehicles are nuts! If I could get zero interest or a REALLY low rate for maybe 60 months, I just might be in. Just no way in hell am I forking out 7 or 800 a month for a vehicle.
