4:59 you’re completely right, late last year I was trying to buy a 24 Civic. Most dealers tried doing a markup. And I refused to pay for it. I ended up finding a close ish (40 minute drive) dealer that was selling at MSRP. I recommended everyone I knew who wanted a Honda to go to them vs the in town dealer because of the games they wanted to play.

Trucks are such a specialty vehicle that every one of them should be custom ordered individually by the customer. There are countless options, sizes, off-road, towing, work vs. luxury, short bed, long bed, engine sizes, 2X4, 4X4, cab sizes, etc. that buying from dealer inventory becomes a “one size fits all” mentality that is going to result in compromises that I would think most customers wouldn’t ultimately be satisfied with. Many different cars would suffice for a lot of people. But most will buy a truck with a specific purpose in mind and want a truck configured for exactly what that purpose is. If I ever buy a pickup truck it would be because I have a specialty purpose in mind and I wouldn’t compromise with dealers on trucks that can’t do what I want it to do or have capabilities that I don’t need. Either it’s exactly how I want it or else the dealer can order it exactly to my specs; I don’t care that you have 250 unsold pickups in your dealership inventory because none of them are matching what I want for the specialty purpose I have in mind.

And they slapped that ugly GRUBBS on the back trunk- BS. Would NEVER do business with this dealership.
