Before commenting that this isn't the SmokeFire Sear+ ELX6, I know. The grill in this video is the SmokeFire EPX6 Stealth that Weber released in 2022. There are only FIVE feature differences between the ELX6 and EPX6. The actual grill itself (auger, controller, hopper, components) is exactly the same. We already wrapped shooting on this video when Weber announced last minute that they were changing the name and adding a few other features to re-release it in 2023. The new features added are: left side shelf, folding top rack, front rack hooks, illuminated control knob and the Weber Crafted Sear Grate included. That has no bearing on any of the performance content found in this video. I do my best to be thorough and accurate which is why I'm pointing this out. I understand that using the name EPX6 in the video might be confusing but just disregard the name. As always, if you have a question please just leave it in the comments so I can answer it. Thanks. - Sam
@@v3lin3on appreciate the feedback. If it seems to throw people for a loop, I’ll do that for sure. You only get so many characters for the title so trying to avoid that if I can. - Sam
@@uclajd this is an actual video review. There would be nothing different in a video 4 months from now. The grill runs the same. I use this grill 4x a week and it’s fine. I’ve cooked on the SmokeFires since their initial release with the Gen 1s. - Sam
I’ve really enjoyed using it. Have some baby backs finishing up on it right now as I type. Other than the glow plug going out twice on my First Gen, I haven’t had any issues with my Second Gen or the new premium model in this video. It’s super easy to use. Glad to hear. It really is a fun grill to cook with. Let us know once you get it. Thanks for watching. - Sam
Any idea what the screw holes are for on the bottom of the legs? Also the front heat shield looks like it should be put in the opposite way they show you. Atleast for me it did based on the edges being bent. Came here and finally someone mentioned what exactly it is for.
If you’re talking about the holes at the very bottom (underneath side) those are for the wheels. To my knowledge, there aren’t holes with any functionality at the bottom (sides) of the legs. - Sam
Hi. Thanks for the video. I'm currently researching Weber pellet grills. I am zeroing in on the SmokeFire Sear+ ELX4. However I just noticed that they announced a new grill called the Searwood 600 (not interested in the XL). It' price is quite a bit below the Sear+ ELX4. Do you have any thoughts about the new one versus the existing one? There is a $500 difference so they must have cut some features? Do you know if Weber is discontinuing the Sear+? Thanks again.
Searwood is the new model and what they are moving to. Any Smokefire model that exists is just there until sold out. They are moving on from the name and look. I have not gotten my hands on the new Searwood yet so there’s not much I can say good or bad about it yet. I really liked the Smokefire and was happy with the grills performance. I will be doing an in-depth video of the Searwood once we get our units in. - Sam
Is there a “p” setting on the controller to moderate the level of smoke? Yeah … I know it has a super smoke mode, but I actually need to moderate the smoke levels for some cooks where family is sensitive to heavy smoke flavor. Would like the ability to “lower” smoke levels for some cooks.
No. You would want to cook with a lighter pellet flavor like Maple/Sugar Maple in a scenario like that. Have you cooked with a pellet grill before? The smoke flavor in general is not nearly as heavy like something from charcoal or wood smokers. - Sam
Appreciate you watching. The shorts are just my style. It’s Florida and it’s hot. I’m just tall so they look a little shorter than they truly should. - Sam
@@justgrillin haha all good dude. Just pullin yer leg. But loved the review. I was hoping you would maybe show us a little more in depth review of how the smoker works from the inside. I mean where does the heating take place (besides that graphic view).
@@keepingitdownwiththepashas it’s pretty straightforward but I will take that feedback for future pellet grill overviews. Your flame and heat come from that center burn pot and it disperses through the diffuser cover and flavorizer bars. There’s not a true direct flame on the unit. For example, I grill chicken at 600 degrees on this grill since it’s not a direct flame. I would never grill chicken at 600 on a gas grill. - Sam
Sure does not look like it has any heat. I seeing it at 600F on other videos, and you see the flames. I'm not saying the guy is not telling the truth, he knows all the temp variations, so he's doing what perrita does. 😂😂
Appreciate the heads up. That clip is provided by Weber. Probably something to point out to their marketing department. It’s more for illustration purposes but surprised I missed that during editing. - Sam

Maybe put both in video title to clear any confusion

Ok 4 months later do an actual video review of the Sear+ ELX6.

I love Weber and was disappointed in the original pellet grill, but now I’m a fan and will be getting one soon!!

Okay 👍
FYI you have chicken being done at 131 degrees... Not a fan of medium rare chicken
