Happy Sunday, all! This is a new song I've been writing, and I asked my friend Josh Turner to play it with me as he was passing through the neighborhood this week. Josh has a way of making every musical thing he touches much better, and I'm honored as always to have him join me here for this new tune. Scroll to the bottom of the video description for the lyrics!

What I'm Losing:
As I catch another train
And I board another plane
I think hard on what I’ve gained
and what I’m losing
Oh, I load this old guitar
into another noisy bar
And I just wonder where you are
and what you’re doing
7 weeks on the road
A blur of road signs and tolls
I left my coat in Amsterdam
I left my keys in Rome
My credit card’s in a Dublin bar
And I left my love at home
As another curtain falls
I have missed another call
So pour a drink, and make it tall, bartender
See, there’s an aching in my bones
because I left my love alone
for a reason I can barely remember
7 months of the year
A tale of green rooms and beer
Well, I left my pick in Reykjavík
Hotel Paris has my comb
Each place I see keeps a piece of me
But you have my love at home
As the days go by
Burn the miles at night
Pills in baggies that can’t stop the rising tide
Lose control of the
Claustrophobia
And the center can’t hold
I lost a van in Birmingham
I lost my mind in Cologne
I lost a pound in every town
And I lost my love at home
You know it‘s a good Song if you listen to it 4 times in a row, decide to learn it, play it a few times and then finally listen to it 10 times again.
Still doing this 👍
Reina's songs and Josh's guitar, these are a few of my favorite things.
Admiring his effortless fingerpicking too.
This comment might actually have enough syllables to fit the melody of ‘My favorite things’
Great job guys
So nice to see the two of you perform together again. Reina: You always have a gift for lyrics, that shows up nicely in this song. Josh: You always seem to have a real sense for what a song needs, and that shows up nicely in this song. You two make great music together, those of us out in UA-cam land are blessed to observe and enjoy. Coffee cheers.
Well said
Yes. Well said.
Smartly said
@Comptefurtif HA watch out guys don't comment how nice someones video made you feel, you might be seen as "selfish"
Very well said!
I was wondering which legend you were covering here, then realized it's an original. Absolutely beautiful, cheers
That´s exactly what i thought! This song is great!!!
I had the same thought- I thought did I miss a bob dylan , or Gordon lightfoot or guy clark song somewhere along the way?. This song and performance imho are Granmy winning level stuff
That this circle of young musicians appear with one another is a treasure. We truly are blessed to listen to them, watch them right here on UA-cam. I've been a fan of Josh's for many years and meeting his friends has been a delight. I subscribe to my favorites and enjoy every minute of it. Thanks Reina and Josh for this gift of music.
We’ll said.
You are right on the mark. The music that Reina, Josh, and all their friends and associates make the best stuff I've heard in a long, long time, and (bonus) they all seem like nice people too.
I agree, what a nice setting for this song too, a park. If you notice, the shadows in the background are different colors including purple. This song is addictive too, can't get it out of my head all day after hearing it. That's good, yes that's good.
I couldn't find any better words. These young musicians are more than a joy to listen to, they are a consolidation in this world of today.
What a drop dead beautiful song. Simple, heartfelt, melodic...John Prine is looking down from Guitar Heaven & saying, "I wish I wrote that!"
She writes good songs. He makes them better.
Gorgeous vocals. Delivery, warmth, depth, meaning. That hit me.
I’m 74. Played the guitar and harmonized with friends, and i’m so glad i found you kids. You’re all amazingly talented…music is in you.
It heartens me.
Me too.
This is simply one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Grown man crying 😢
Two from a circle of Talent. Who needs radio?
I always admire Joshn playing.
Jesus..what a great f**king song...
The more I listen to this it becomes more and more obvious that I can never listen to this enough.
This song is so close to Morse Code in terms of emotional impact! So powerful!
Very nice balade and duet... I'm76' and it's one of my new favorite sons... From France
Excuse... SONGS!!
😊
her voice is so pleasant,my ears feel blessed
Such a well crafted song. Josh is perfect (vocals, guitar, style) as the duet partner for this. I always miss Toni though when she's not involved. She also adds something special every time too.
Always one of my favorite.
When i think I almost lost my phone in Somerville! 😁
Since she mentioned Reykjavik, I will urge everyone make sure they catch her Death Cap vid.
I don't know whether to cry sad tears for the song, or happy tears hearing you two play together again.
What a nice ending of the weekend. 🤩 Thanks Reina and Josh
Great reaction to the Dublin line at the Dublin show this week. Every performance a jewel
That's just as good a road song as has ever been written.
I'm spreading this.
What are you doing here? lol
Love youur channel
wuut! legend kkk
Yeah...you brought me here! Love your channel
Thanks for this. Awesome song.
Thanks for the recommendation!
That's just plain good.
Reina dominates. When she write a Halloween song, she writes _the_ Halloween song. Here she wrote _the_ road song.
Very strong essayist's lyric in the way that every phrase reinforces the theme. A thinking listener's song.
Much as I miss Toni when she's not there, this instance of your creativity on top of the synergy of your pairing with Josh makes this also a sensual listener's song.
What. A. Song.
What. A. Performance.
Magnificent on every level.
This makes the world a better place…
Two years later and still a gem!
Very clever lyrics Reina
This is SUCH a good song up there with Lodi, Postcard, and Faithfully.
I instantly thought of their duet on Postcard when I heard this. They always make good music but this is just superb.
Just came home from a 4 day 4 show tour, played this one every night. Great song, really feeling it right now
Music at its best.!😘
I can't stop watching this video. It's fantastic.
Thank you for the insight into a more somber aspect of your being a travelling musician.
Yearning for a lover, loneliness, regret... these are relatable, universal emotions that are being evoked.
Once again, you've shown us the incredible depth of your songwriting; not with lofty concepts, but by simply speaking from your heart.
Awesome!
Daddy was my home. Now my body is my home, and my daddy's love lives inside. My home is the new encounters I'll have throughout my life. I'll accept them as I go along, but my father will always be the foundation. I welcome you all.
Hi from England, I like my Sundays with this lovely music. Thank you.
Finally, another Reina and Josh duet! Oh, Happiness, thou hast found me.
A beautiful and wonderful song.
OMW. What a rush.!
Superb music for country souls all over.!
Man, that's a great song...the guitars are perfect! More please.
Love it.
I was grateful to see Reina del Cid perform this genuine work of art in Denver 08/11/22. I wish you peace, Rachel.
Such talent. Thank you.
One of my deepest regrets is not being able to like this song more than once.
There's always the "home studio" version. That make two likes. 😉
Another amazing performed song... as you always do 😘😘🎶 all the best for you... thanks for enjoying me!
Always love these two together
My God, this is a beautiful song. Thank you.
I guess I'm getting old but these two young folks just seem to have talent way beyond their years. They must have picked up a guitar before their first birthday. Truly outstanding artists.
Cette chanson m'a donné quelques larmes, merci pour cette superbe interprétation
the voice of the two by the way
Anyone else noticed the ring on Josh's left hand? Wishing you all the best Josh!
And both: you made my day - awesome song, great performance! Thank you so much!
I noticed the ring. Great tune 👌
He and Kelly married a while back.
Now that boy can play G! I thought he even made it sound like a piano.
Reina is at her best when singing her songs. She is an excellent wordsmith.
Like she said, Josh makes everything he touches musically a little better. His vocal on this is outstanding.
With these lyrics, this song will be sung by every performer around the world.
How wonderful to see you guys collab again. Beautifully done. While your Sunday morning coffee jams bring a smile to my face, this one did before I even hit play.
This will become another Reina and Josh-classic👍😎🎼
What a beautiful song. Can't wait till november in Amsterdam.
Me neither. Let's give Reina back her coat she left in Amsterdam.
And another year passed by. The world is not the same anymore. I hope next monday in Amsterdam will be like coming home.
She gives Josh the best verse, and then we can all enjoy his irrespressible smile when he helps sing the heartwrenching payoff line.
Genius. A really beautiful and well-crafted song
Great. Gotta say I miss Toni. However, Josh is an excellent standin. Have a good week.
Oh that very last line, with the change from left to lost, is so sad :( take care beautiful tourers
So natural. Just so incredibly natural!
Beautiful! Nice to hear this song just before the day ends here in The Netherlands 🇳🇱
Can never get enough of Reina and Josh! So pure and perfect!
You kids have no idea how your music has been saving me .
Reina’s writing has always been so consistently solid, insightful, and beautiful. such a talent. and Josh Turner’s voice just gets better and better!
This song surely takes a piece of me. (The last verse makes me worry about Reina's health. Touring is a health hazzard )
Absolutely stunning. I love your duos.
I wish you'd come retrieve your comb some day :)
John Benavides: This is cool 😎. With you and Josh!!
Never understand how people with your amazing talent isn't a household name, yet. Beautiful song, sung beautifully.
Wonderful! Great idea to use Josh for this song. You two are really good together!
Another winner ballad from Reina...my favorite since Morse Code. The charge we get out of listening to you (Reina, Toni, Josh, Carson, and your extended musical family) derives not only from the sweet sounds you send us, but from the love of music and one another that you clearly put into them.
I love this song. That's some Simon&Garfunkel level stuff.
HELLO THE STARS DRINK TCHIN TCHIN " VODKA " schowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww BRAVO HAPPY WEEK
Sweet, sweet, sweet…with a hint of tear drops. Beautiful! ✌️❤️☕️
It’s funny, that I almost always need to hear a song several times to decide if I like it. With Reina and Josh on this song, I was hooked after a verse or two. Both are excellent stand alone or part of a group, but it becomes very special when the two are together. Something to savor. Thanks to you both for a beautiful song. My Sundays are always better!
Just saw the band at Jamming Java last night. Want to thank Reina for putting on a clean show I could bring my 11 year old granddaughter to and also many thanks for Land of Iniquity. How sad but true when she says old dinosaurs behind dusty doors. Takes courage for an entertainer to speak out on a political topic these days but Reina is not hiding her contempt for the injustice so many have witnessed. Wally
After knowing this wonderful piece for some time now, I have to say that it is my favorite music video.
Clever lyrics that remind me of a long expired Eurail pass, a lovely chord progression, and the two of you who fit like the fingers of holding hands. Clicking on play-all, the kids can eat later...
If y'all could go ahead and make an album together that'd be great. Thanks 🤣
Love hearing you and Josh back together again. Beautiful song and Josh’s lush soulful lead.
You said it :AWESOME. A trip in Europe .Thank you Reina and Josh. 🌞🤩🤗😍🌻🕊❤☕☕☕
I LOVE Reina! Why doesn't she love me?
Beautiful song Reina!!! You and Josh just nailed it!!! Love both of your voices!!!
Josh adds so much to any arrangement. Reina has a great song here! Josh's vocals, and those finger rolls on guitar during the last verse were outstanding.
nice song.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Excellent Reina and Josh!
Great layered arrangement. Single guitar, then joined by second guitar, alternating vocals, then harmonies, into the bridge, etc. That’s how you turn such a simple song into something so rich that people want to listen to over and over
I agree. Good description of a solidly-written song.
what a great tune! Reina you always amaze me with your wordsmith abilities. My opinion this is the best story song. very witty with a glimmer of hope in the middle but what I heard as a sad ending. very cool. I'm a 68yr old retired truckdriver. I have enjoyed all you guys, Josh, Toni and all for years. Keep it up. Great music.
I like when you 2 sing a play together and the others also
Beautiful original song! Reminds me of something Jackson Browne might have written back in the day.
Quite possibly the best duet you’ve done josh, period, and I love what you do with Carson.
Mmmn, mmmn... This is one of your very best, Reina. My favorite line: "I lost a pound in every town..." YES! It says so much, makes the listener infer just a bit, which always makes for extra gut-punch. Mmmph! /// Also, superb melody, and superb Josh.
Few things stop me dead in my tracks as I’m randomly scrolling, but this song riveted me to the ground. Any musician knows this is straight from the heart!
In an alternate universe, Jackson Browne jammed with Paul Simon and this same song came into the world. But seriously, OMG those harmonies! And the lyrics! Thank you both.
That's a really elegant song. Laid back, heartfelt, a bit sad but also a bit of humor. I also liked that you referenced Yeats.
Happy to hear you again with Josh ! 👍🏼😍😍 harmony for our ears ! 🌈
Back here 4 months later in February of 2022. This song and performance are Grammy level stuff- bob Dylan, gordon lightfoot, Jackson Brown, Guy Clark RIP would have had a hard time trying to top this .It's hard to beat RDC and JLC doing a video of one of RDC's original song masterpieces.
Home- Rome-Bermingham-Paris-BLUE-Reykjavik-again Rome- Paris-twice Bermingham- very BLUE- Reykjavik- Home-LOVE!!!
