hahha i see the lawnboy/toro zero turn.. i picked up a z330 2005 lawnboy for zero. replaced motor from a free mtd with a brakes and scrapum. 98 build year i think it is. no crank weights. new blades .. great lil 42 for home owners. i love it
Your boy Mustie1 is ripped and could probably manhandle those mowers by himself! Although he's got a bad back and/or other ailments....typical middle aged man problems...😀 Hit the gym boys!
The "Art Deco" (Stamped lines and B&S logo) Briggs blower cover is an artifact of the 1950s Briggs engines, as far as I can tell, and didn't make it into the 1960s.
I made an order with your store a couple weeks back. The items were shipped the next day! Thanks for the fast service! LOVE the NOPE shirt! It makes people smile.
Well thank you very much. I've been around, just really busy with all the work in the shop right now. Don't tell anyone but I'm planning on making a trip to see cousin Taryl in another month or two. Hopefully we can make another video. Take care.@@ghibliinu6616
Taryl is such a good dude using his viewers to help Brian find what he is really looking for. He gave you some great stuff Taryl. Thx for the video Taryl. Thank you Brian for giving those up to Taryl. Now we will get some more video’s. You gave up so much too.
Hey Taryl, what a catch. When you lifted that mower up and I saw the frame made out of round and square tube welded together, it reminded me of my time as a welder in a shop summer of 1970. There were 199 thousnady million job shops in the Detroit suburbs where you could get a job in a second. Staying at one was something altogether different though. I worked in a 120°F production welding shop where we had 450 amp mig welders w/ water cooled handles and a setup guy for each welder. Imagine 4'X4'X4' palleted boxes full of parts to be welded together. That provided my dinner. Couldn't wait for the Roach Coach to show up at 10am for a snack break. Then lunch at Noon, and 15min break at 2:30 then home goin time at 5pm in a 500hp car to drive in bumper to bumper traffic for 45mins. Yep, we welded little frames like that one, crossmember parts for Ford, luggage racks for Yamaha etc. And if you didn't like the job, you could find another in 10mins. Those were indeed the days. After that our politicians sold us out and everything went to C-H-I-N-A. And a Lot of it is JUNK. OK, fine video Mr. Dactyl. Thank you very much for the entertainment. ben/ michigan
Brings back memories. I was a dealer for Bolens and I can remember selling them and also service. I believe the Estate Keeper largest model “GK” had a two cylinder Wisconsin engine. Great video as always !!! Thanks
totally LOVE THIS!! my neighbor had one of these when i was a little kid.. i wanted one so bad... he wore his golf shirts and khaki shorts to mow in... backed his corvette out to get the mower out.. I was too small to get to ride it but loved the "twisty mower" I always called it.. my grandmother had a Lawn boy push mower.. (it was like a wierd tan color not the lawn bot green they later were).. she got rid of that in favor of a snapper rider which i did get to ride.. but it wasnt a twisty
Bolens was still making the articulated riders in the '80's when I was working at a dealer-they started coming in with steering cable failures. They came out with a retrofit kit that I had to install-no charge to the owners. Thanks for taking us along on your journeys, guys!
OMG. When I was a kid in the 70's, my step Dad had one of these tiny riders. It was old and worn even back then. My oldest step brother would get it running and beat it up and ruin it and then start over again. Poor machine suffered. I always found the old machine fascinating. Ingenious post WWII engineering to keep it simple and get a job done! Would love to have this guy for a neighbor! He seems very interesting! Thanks for this upload!
Great job showing and telling and working on it and riding it. Keep up the good work, now I am going to work on my mower have a good one see ya next time see ya bye.
Wow, this one brought back a memory from the mid 70. As a kid my neighbor who was retired had a lawnmower like that. First time I've thought about that since then.
Awesome mowers, just love the old stuff they were built to last not like the crap they sell today. Going to be a fair amount of work to get them restored but what a treat to pull them out from time to time and give them a run like they were designed to do in the mid 60's. How's the new shop coming along Taryl, update coming soon? Keep up the video's, cheers.
I really like seeing older stuff too. The way they are often "overbuilt" in certain areas and the 50s-60s-70s styling is neat. Nowadays they have really mastered the art of mass production and wherever they can, they cut corners and make the parts out of very thin sheet steel or plastic and the (big box store mowers) designs are all about identical with just different styling, decals and paint.
Hey Taryl, Tim here, yep, first zero-turn, i agree........i watched this in the hopes of it runnin, not even thinkin u'd be able to drive it all around.....what a FANTASTIC aquisition, for a bit or merch......previous owner oughta get a vid of it goin.....he was a good Joe!!....BOY i enjoyed that, just PERFECT Sun morn, in sweats, scratchin butt, drinkin coffee vid....LOVED IT!!!.......Keep us posted, i actually think BOTH aquisitions are super cool......neat stuff!!.....hope you post an update, if/when you restore, i like 'em both.....neat dudes.......PEACE to you sir!!
These older Briggs have some real longevity. Honestly think it would've ran first pull if you could've taken the choke off fast enough. Thanks for the dinner, Taryl!
Very neat little rider, thanks Brian for giving a couple of those away so we could see them close up! Those old flat head motors never cease to amaze me how long they can sit around and still be brought back from the dead. I have 3 of them in my garage waiting to be fired up that people have had sitting around for decades and decided to "throw away" into the back of my pickup truck. :)
I really like it when you tackle this vintage equipment and bring it back to life. I've never seen a combo shroud and gas tank assembly before. Road trip was fun too. That's beautiful Midwest America country.
I remember these coming into the shop every spring for tune up and sharpening. The original “almost” zero turn mower. People with estates and a lot of landscaping really loved them, but they didn’t hold up very well over time. I like the way the green lever lifted the front deck for servicing. Cool stuff.
Gosh, I really miss the bright yellow/orange paint used for road lane markings... years ago Australia dropped the colour, now it's all boring white. Cheers from sunny Oz!
Good for you guys! Got some really cool old machines there. You guys and Elkskins always find the neatest stuff. I can't seem to fine SQUAT down here in Oklahoma. Everyone keeps all their ancient old stuff forever and never turns loose of it.
26:57 I love the ambition of the atomic age. Hope she had ac in that hamster ball that I'm wondering how she got into. Does the lid open and she trampolines in there or did Robbie the robot lift her in and out?
I use several methods to clean/seal metal fuel tanks. I would love seeing you do a video on the processes you use. I think many viewers can benefit from it. thanks for all your great videos.
You buy replacement shoes you reglue back onto those brake pad peddle that rides inside of those rims on those riding lawnmowers you just got. Those are brake pads that half to be done that way to. Instead of regular types of brake pad shoes. That's another item online part you can order still to. I'd order two sets of those if you decide to. It'll save money for shipping and handling fees in the long run to that way taryl. Acetone removes that adhesive glue good to. Then sand those brake pad peddles so the glue sticks and adheres to the surface better to. Good luck on fixing and restoring that pivoting frame and body bolens riding lawnmower to.
You guys have all the cool toys. Thanks for the video. Thanks to Brian for making the video possible. I think the horses were bigger in the old days. I had a house brand 25 inch push mower that had a 3 HP Briggs flat head with the pulsa-jet carb. Bought it new in 1961 or so for $50.00 and kept myself in pocket money cutting a bunch of suburban lawns with it.
I like how the gas line is not a rubber hose that would deteriorate over time. When I was a kid, my Dad brought home a "burns" mower that is that size but not a split frame. The mower motor on the burns had so much torque that you could pop a wheelie easily when popping the clutch quickly! Good times..
I remember all those goofy looking mowers from the mid 60"s.Seems I remember most commonly the 2 1/2hp.Briggs & Scrapem powered many pieces of lawn equipment.Had a go cart powered by one.Went thru quite a few of them.Dibdn"t pay for anything back then, someone was always scrapping an old horizontal shaft mower.Never knew you could get them to spark with just a turn of the flywheel without spinning it,Great vid!
That's BREAKS and Scrap 'Em. Must be the hillbilly teeth that causes so much misunderstanding. I often wish he would drop the schtick and just do it straight but keep the witticisms.
Good old runner!! All the tin looks pretty straight too!! Paint could use a good buffing. LOL!! Can't beat those old engines. After all these years it started and ran with no new parts at all!!!
Our first rider was a Bolens estate keeper we bought at a garage sale, had a Wisconsin 7hp, worked many years till the trans mainshaft broke at the pulley end, couldn't get parts for it.
I'm female and so is my neighbor and both her and I where we are single have mowed our yards and ran the weed eaters and even did some running of the chainsaws. So those mower ads were right up our alley. Back then the women stayed home and took care of everything around the house while the husband worked, of course the husband paid for it and the woman could buy whatever she wanted but it was back when you could raise a family on a 1 person salary a year. Now I work, do all the yard work and all I get is a beer or mixed drink from time to time.
Looks like one of those cute little Allis Chalmers or simplicity tractors back there! I loved those when I was a kid...they looked just like my neighbor's Allis 175 farm tractor.
From Leo: I got a big kick out of this video, especially when you crossed the tracks headed north through "that little town". I worked at the old plant on the left, and ate many meals at the old restaurant next to the plant. That was about 40 years ago. Thanks for the entertainment.
Man I flipped when I first saw these mowers, I was born in 63 and I remember them, I completely forgot they made these. Used to see them on golf courses alot. I have a bolens push mower. Drain the fuel out every fall, starts up 1st or 2nd pull every spring.
@47:50 These Bolens 910/911 Lawn Keeper remind me of the current Husqvarna/Jonsered Riders front mowers! They are very similar, some also have three blades.

Hey Mr.Taryl WOW 60 year old riding lawnmowers. I hope you can get all the parts you need to get the old girl cutting grass again. I will be sure to watch! Enjoy your video's.
Your making me cry, I fixed up a very old Montgomery ward three blade ridding mower that I got to work well with two blades. I had to leave UT when I moved to Florida. So tiny but ran well. Should have found a way to take it.
Cool little Bolens LKs (Lawn Keeper). FMC Bolens made some very good quality equipment back in the day. I have a few old Bolens garden tractors that I still use.
My uncle had one that he made a snow scoop to mount on the deck mounts, and he also made a rotary broom head for it. I wish he was still around to share with you.
I have a Husqvarna 322T AWD which is a much improved copy of this Bolens but Bolens came up with the design first! Stiga's are cool machines too. I'm always amazed at the old Briggs and Tecumseh engines that start right up after years and decades of sitting.
That would be a fantastic rig to bring along to shows and swap meets. Its small and maneuverable. Save the deck for the other one and get a electric start for this one. There's yer dinner.
It really is a convenient and compact machine and really shows us you don't need horsepower in the double digits. I imagine it is a bit tippy on hills though so it isn't a perfect machine (none of them are but zero turns are approaching that larger safety margin).

Just like mini bike ads, they used women / models to catch mens’ attraction to interest them in their manly products..

on me ..!”

Thank you Brian for you generous contribution to the channel. Nice job getting the engine running again. You guys ROCK!
Hey Jaryljackderriere great to see you on! Long time no see!!! 😃
Yeah, thanks Brian. My very name. Lot's of good people in Indiana I suspect! 🤪

Wow, this one brought back a memory from the mid 70. As a kid my neighbor who was retired had a lawnmower like that. First time I've thought about that since then.
Love to see more of these road trips. Kinda like American picker type stuff
This was fun to watch.

I agree but they should have had the serial and model number stamped in the block instead of the shroud

Taryl on a road trip,👍 thumbs up great video

Wow, that's a nice collection! Absolutely love those two Taryel picked up, great video!
I get excited like that when my old truck starts on a cold morning.
Cool little mowers
Thanks for the video guys. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Old Briggs flatheads are bulletproof, so are Tecumseh engines from that era. Good stuff, thanks Brian, Taryl and Slippers!
Love this show
You guys are really cool dudes
Good to see you guys saving these old riders from the crusher.
Those are pretty cool!! Don't see many 60s mowers much anymore! Cool video!

Good old runner!! All the tin looks pretty straight too!! Paint could use a good buffing. LOL!! Can't beat those old engines. After all these years it started and ran with no new parts at all!!!
Great video! Awesome Mower! they Realy built them with quality stuff back then. Love watching your videos! There's Your Dinner! :)
Interesting video, I like the older equipment
Definitely worth spending some time on. Can’t wait for part 2. 🔧👍🇬🇧
Best part of mower deck out front 😮
This has to be a new kind of series! Pick up old beat up mowers and get them running! Keep them out of scrap
Really great when folks store their movers with clean oil, and run carb/ fuel tank dry. Brian, thanks for sharing your collection with Taryl. 👍
3:10 Slippers missing...3:18 Oh wait ! There he is. This is a very nice find indeed. I bet they were good on an even lawn.
WOW, What a Great Restore project! Look like Awesome mowers. Only thing I don't like about it is it isn't mine!
Our first rider was a Bolens estate keeper we bought at a garage sale, had a Wisconsin 7hp, worked many years till the trans mainshaft broke at the pulley end, couldn't get parts for it.

I noticed that also, looks like a PowrMax 4040 from the hood.
@onepingonlyvasily I hope it was a teaser for an upcoming video! Slippers needs that one to drive into town.
Loved the road trip and Power Kings jump out at you.
Very cool. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome first zero turn almost. Thanks for the video
I always enjoy your videos, thanks.
Thanks Taryl. Great job on an old fashioned mower .
WoW that is some really cool stuff you got from a awesome fan very nice…👍👍👍
The first mower I ever drove was one of those! They actually cut really nice too, hopefully you'll get it in the grass again!
Sounds and runs great, Taryl! I think I'd like one of those!
When are you going to do an update on your new shop extension?
Tyrell got my attention with the added "surprise"
From Leo: I got a big kick out of this video, especially when you crossed the tracks headed north through "that little town". I worked at the old plant on the left, and ate many meals at the old restaurant next to the plant. That was about 40 years ago. Thanks for the entertainment.
Brian is a collector not a hoarder
True, true!!
Awesome guy he is!
Ask his wife. She will tell you different. But I definitely agree with you.thats a collector in my book. He is a really cool guy. Knows his stuff too.
They are Nice Little Machines Taryl, You Need to Restore those, I haven't seen 1 of those since the 70's, Great Fine
Those are awesome mowers great job
The air filter looks just like the ones on the 3 and 3.5 HP B&S powered push mowers I used in the 70's. The spring strap that the seat is mounted on might be bent or sagging from decades of use. That does look like a tight fit between the gas tank and the seat. Cool looking lawnmower.
Nice to see all the flags in that little town!
That's so cool! Never knew that there was a riding law mower that small and articulates, and only has a 28" cut deck with 3 blades. The engine is a real B&S compared to todays standards. The tires remind me of the two Gravely convertible mowers we have.
That is a neat little mower. What a cool and efficient design.
Lucky man,couple of cool rigs.
Great video
Nice score Taryl 😊
That machine is AWESOME
Hey Mr.Taryl WOW 60 year old riding lawnmowers. I hope you can get all the parts you need to get the old girl cutting grass again. I will be sure to watch! Enjoy your video's.
Just ordered my bleed oil and gas hat. Love your content.
You continue to create very interesting content
Another great job.
Your making me cry, I fixed up a very old Montgomery ward three blade ridding mower that I got to work well with two blades. I had to leave UT when I moved to Florida. So tiny but ran well. Should have found a way to take it.
Amazing it started so quickly.
Can't wait to see part 2
I would absolutely love to have one of those. My dad would enjoy the heck out of that just riding it around the yard.
Cool little Bolens LKs (Lawn Keeper). FMC Bolens made some very good quality equipment back in the day. I have a few old Bolens garden tractors that I still use.
That was good of Brian to give you the mowers
Cool little machine!
Lucile Ricardo on I love Lucy drove one. Lol good episode
Good job!
That’s a very cool old man and he has a gold mine there
Such pretty country and green
good guy Brian😁😁👍👍
27:00 because alot of men wer gone to wars around that time, taryl.
I love the loud slapping hand shake😂🤣
