Conan The Barbarian Soundrack - Tower Of Set (HQ unreleased and edited for quality)

- Universal Pictures has released their copyright claim. I thank them. Conan fans in the US and Canada can once again enjoy this hauntingly beautiful track, edited as best I could for quality.
For all my fellow Conan The Barbarian fans, I have improved the quality of the existing Tower Of Set music. The original version, Las Cantigas De Santa Maria (The Snake) - Conan The Barbarian Complete (found here on youtube), sounds flat and muted, with static noise making it worse, so I mixed it with Clemencic Consort - Cantiga 166 (Como Poden) which is the recording Poledouris used.
Clemencic Consort sounds far superior to Las Cantigas De Santa Maria but lacks the female chorus Poledouris added for the movie, and since Poledouris edited it, cutting and repeating certain sections, the recordings do not sync up. It took some time to edit both pieces to sync properly.
I also reduced the noise in the Las Cantigas version so that the resultant mix is almost noise free (but not completely noise free, as removing too much distorts the music).
This was a small labor of love. I hope you enjoy!
Basil Poledouris based this on an old Spanish piece. It feels so ancient and wild, from a time when men with swords wandered the countryside.
No one suspects The Spanish instrumentation.
What is the name of the Spanish piece?

This music really takes you into forgotten worlds.
Forgotten - yes. But still existing - Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece.
Your past worlds, if your name is your real one then your ancestors knew these worlds. Living in Scotland or Ireland. They live through you. Honor them as best you can.
@@pojelaniq the original version of this song excluding the singing is from teutonic origin. Far from greece and albania
Or....Forgotten Realms. Baldur's Gate, Waterdeep, Ten Towns, Calimport, & Luskan. So many wonderful places to visit.
@@Zozo806 This is a medieval Spanish song written by king Alfonso X, Cantigas de Santa María. Far from the barbarians.
This is still hypnotic ❤. I remember watching Conan as a kid and have been in love with the soundtrack ever since.
For me, only American beauty's soundtrack can rival Conan the barbarian soundtrack 😍

Soft, warm female flesh
This is the Goodness of Life.😌
RIP REH 🍷
The theme is from cantigas de santa maria, and this is called " como poden per sas culpas" ....
The arragement is amazing....!!!!
Basil poledorius, one of the best composer movies.
Yes..... “How about two snakes coming together over a black sun? A magnificent standard!”
They dont make em like these anymore😢😢😢
One of my favorites in the soundtrack of Conan the Barbarian. The mood is mystic with the voices and the instruments. It brings me into a meditative state of joy and humanity.
🎯 u r an intuitive genius. I salute good sir.
What a timeless music! Thanks for editing and sharing.
Greetings to all the Conan and Arnold fans worldwide!
For me, it's a masterpiece.
Greetings! 🗡️
I remember raiding my father's movie closet, and finding this movie. 10/10.
Same thing happened to me. Found A LOT of good movies.
This has has always been my absolute favorite movie soundtrack, and probably always will be. RIP Basil Poledouris! You left us too soon...
One of the best Soundtracks i ever hear
pity this piece is not on the actual soundtrack
Awesome. I can't speak for anyone else but for me music like this talks to my soul. Its like I'm transported back to an age when we didn't live on top of each other and we were more free.
One of the most powerful and mystical song from Conan's universe! ;) You feel like their is an old and mytological world behind this song. ;)
There is... this song is actually almost 1000 years old. ua-cam.com/video/gETv_c9U9zA/v-deo.html
this is real
Lardon2 that's for sure he should have had his eyes open and been waving incense around
Because there is!

Thank you

Thanks mate
Wow...its stuff like this that re-assures one that the ancient days didn't necessarily suck (despite illnesses and food scarcity)- hearing this 800 years ago would of been incredible.
so modern and old at same time, epic, my fav of OST
Fell in love with this song. It gave me some ideas for my D&D campaign
"Como poden per sas culpas" (Cantiga n° 166)
I can’t believe I’m just now coming across this. Thank you so much for the effort to mix the audio tracks and bring this gem to us!
I remember seeing the movie in 82. About 4 allowances later I bought the tape. I still have it. Best soundtrack investment ever!
God, I watched this movie for the firs time when I was 11. this takes me way back
Honestly I'm not convinced that I turned out okay by any metric, but I'm grateful for my dad for watching Conan the Barbarian with me when mom wasn't at home
Nostalgia for sure. I didn't have UA-cam, or interwebs for that matter back then, so this song was lost for a time. Recently I rewatched both barbarian and destroyer and realized how incredible these movies and scores truly were. And of course now I instantly UA-cam the soundtrack... And here we are. One of the movies that'll hold a spot in my top 5 forever. Cheers!
@@TheWisestwolf Me too guys :) I watch with dad and i have eyes like coins big and shine and heart wop in rythm of this drums first i saw naked women xD ! And inner barbaric lust awake in me >:D ! Skol !
Crom your God?
Impresionante....místico...mágico....te lleva a una realidad más allá de la conocida
Son las cántigas de Alfonso X el sabio
Love the music..even more so as was pretty much the only sound of that whole scene, which made said scene excellent beyond even whole movies.
I never forget that scene
You can tell how good the movie actually is by the impact it has had on other sub-cultures like music and computer games over the last 40 years and the fact that even today we still marvel such small details as a few minutes of its music score.
More than 40 years I'd say, given the song was composed by King Alfonso the Wise back in the 1200's. ua-cam.com/video/gETv_c9U9zA/v-deo.html
What a masterpiece! well done sir! Conan the barbarian was the best movie i ever watched! its immortal! im 30 yo and i can still watch it and find new things i didnt notice before. RIP Basil Poleodoris, the geniuse that made this divine music so all of us can enjoy it :)
The genius that composed this piece died 800 years ago. ua-cam.com/video/gETv_c9U9zA/v-deo.html
As the slaves are lined up, the air fills with the shrieks and screams of the weak. As the weak are sacrificed to Set, god of gods, master of master, the skies darken to a red hue and the priests become intoxicated with the smell of blood. The sweet cries of the virgins as they are sacrificed; the despair of men and women who, once being great warriors, await in terror to be sacrificed to our master!
The serpents slither around, the blood of victims dotting their scaly bodies....
Set shall have this world, for he is the only god to pray to. Infidels shall be sacrificed by the millions in his honour, the skies themselves shall echoe the screams of the pitiful.
Set, god of serpents, master of all master, grant us power.
It's too bad this sort of darkness still echoes in the world we live in...I have met people who say they can remember images and memories of this time in the distant past. Shape shifting serpents, the weakness of humans, the unrelenting killing and death....survival only of the strong....shaping a trend of humans that do survive take by example the long gone serpent gods of darkness and hate....I wonder if we as people can ever find our own identity. Or perhaps the serpent gods are not fully gone from this world and there are still battles and wars of liberation to be fought and won.
So if you set up a snake cult, I will definitely join 👍
@@StabbyMcBlade I'd rather chop their heads off like Conan 👎
I'm a serpent
How did you compose such wicked musings?
The chorus does add to it, making it better.
This is a medieval song from spain... indeed this song takes you places.
From which part of Spain?
You are wrong. This is from Greece
This is from Alexander the Great times
PERSIA
PERSIA will always exist. That country shaped the whole world. Even though the idiots in the world say not
This music transcends... everything
Thank you so much for uploading this! I re-watched Conan a few days ago, and fell in love with the soundtrack again, especially this song.
Crom thanks you for releasing this.
Wow...talk about putting one into a trance......!!!!!!! This is by far the most perfect and elligantr emix of this ever...I am just so sad I did not find it 3 years ago.... G
You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.
He's an idiot. Seeking attention. FROM PERSIA.
Love this music. It really goes with the timelessness of the movie. I bought the soundtrack strictly for this piece and for the Riders of Doom. I was so disappointed that it was not on there. Still what a thrill it was to finally get to hear it. mrsparkle001 you did a most remarkable job on this... Love it!
One of the best scenes in the movie and great music (the "Blood Eagle" music from Vikings makes me go back to this often). :)
Should have been on the soundtrack.
FOR SURE
that's why it has its magic ...
yes
My recollection of the movie is that this music was included although not in its entirety. A portion was played when Conan was in the snake pit & was distracted by the pendant on the wall. The snake sneaked up on him - and met its end!
Yeah it was included in it's entirety, but in the movie it was preceded by a chorus of chants before they started climbing the tower. The only version of that I could find is such low quality I didn't even want to attempt to clean it up.
Doesn't matter I enjoyed the music. Thank you for sharing with us.
Try meditating to this spooky crazy
For some reason, I'm attracted to this song.
Great track... Adding this to my backyard loop. (Themed my yard for a Viking/Skyrim feel)
this is not me nor my board this is just the wind that brings me wavesz ... this is just a thought carried on a breeze ... what i am is what made that thought real
I love you. This is my favorite soundtrack of all time. This is my favorite song from the soundtrack - so you could say this is my favorite song of all time
this is simply brilliant thank you so much for all your effort
Best song from best OST.
I grew up on this music!! I wish never had! Todays music is trash! I am still waiting for for my body lifted up from something like this in this day and age. This brings back so many memories!!!!
This music really takes you back to a time lost and land never dreamed of but lost to the anvils of history forgotten but still lives in the psyche of mans primordial history. Never lost or forgotten what still lives in the hearts of men. That's what I think this music captures what it emulates and aspired by.💜🙏🌌✨🦁👑🦅🦝🐍🐳🏝🌦
OhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhMAN..now I can say this is truly unreal...brings back some memories..thank you so much....G
Conan The Barbarian is an unique motion picture.
Simply the best, my friend

The best of all time... Crom!
Simply put one of a kind of movie and music.
It's a deep art film in a way.
Absolutely brilliant! Thanks for this gem!
Out standing! Thank You for putting this together.
This music represents the antediluvian times that mankind had to forget.
No one in this world can you trust.
Fucking right only if i listened back then
"People have no grasp of what they do"
This song is so psychedelic and sounds very authentic for the time line on this movie even its still fantasy. Just so much better as all that rock guitar action shit..
Thank you so much for this! Amazing work!
nice video man, by far the best version of this tune I've found on UA-cam, well done
In was born in 81 and still IT is one of my fav movies, along with last of the mohicans
The sacred rituals of ancient gods, actualy it feels like christianity in europe rooted out all such things from the pagan ancestor mostly from slavic folks.. and not that we had worship evil snake god but many secrets have been lost, same as go for celts and their wisdom.
Great job! I made a few attempts at doing a kind of restoration using the cleaner Clemencic Consort recording myself, but never got a satisfying result. This is great :)
Thank you for doing this editing!
Listening to this while playing conan exiles really goes well
I have played hyburian adventures
Though I love the soundtrack, why was this omitted from the CD? This is hauntingly, melodically, and majestically evil! Thanks for uploading this!!
I'm not feelin' the evil ... just otherworldliness
I wouldn't know
Marshall Banana is actually one of a number of tunes dedicated to the Virgin Mary. So evil? Maybe not. Depends on your perspective perhaps.
Who’s driving cross country with me ( especially through the western states!) ? 🤘
“Do you know what lies beyond that wall.”
“No.”
"Two fools who laugh at death"
This is also one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite movies, but it is not included in the soundtrack. Reason is maybe because it's a variation on some medieval song, with added vocals.
Awesome work reediting this! Thanks!
Who else here frequently meditates to this music?
Folks about jump into a pit with a giant serpent. 🤣
@@BusyBadger when listening to this I keep remembering the sound of a dagger being thrust into the snakes lower jaw with a thud followed by a kind of distressed hissing noise. A few arrows being fired then the whopping sound of a blade moving through the air Before the haking through flesh noise begins.......then the screaming starts. All part of the tune for me.
I do sit ups to this song, i run to this song in the extreme heat. You become transcended. 😶
I have this strange urge to infiltrate a dangerous tower to steal a jewel from a snake cult.
About to practice my martial arts to it now. In karate we say our forms are walking meditation.🙇♂️
Thank you for doing this.
Exelent! , misiing in most soundtracks outhere! , classic of classic!
Beautiful.
thank you for this germ. THE SNAKE WILL NEVER DIE !
AfromanDisco it did, it got pinned to the wall with an arrow then Conan fucked it up and cut it's head off. Then he killed that lord doom guy that could turn into a snake, he got his head cut off too, I see a pattern emerging here...
AfromanDisco I've even came up with a formula equation type thing...
Conan + snake = snake (- head) = dead snake
LOL Here, the snake have more a symbolic imagery than an actual body.
Thank you so much for this!
Esta película la vi en el año 1981, En el Cine Candilejas de Madrid, y me gustó.
Theme Song to my life.... 🔥🔥🔥💀💀💀
Juice Man are you a real barbarian living in a fantasy medieval world then?? You might think you are but I can tell you now...you're not. Great tune though

Okay, someone has to say it. "A few years ago it was just another snake cult."
so strange, I know this was performed by the Clemenic consort, Cantiga 166 Como Poden. but I can't find it on UA-cam anymore other than this piece which Poulidoris "augmented" for Conan. This doesn't actually appear on the original soundtrack because Poulidoris did not write it
I want more
Crazy that it's only in one key, it seems like so much more is going on
Universal Pictures/Music Copyright claim? but this is an alteration of the Clemencic Consort version of the Cantiga 166...
dudo101 Probably the choir yes.
What's funny is they left out the choir in the new blu-ray edition, in multiple pieces like Riders of Doom.
Jerrol Hale you can see clips of it on UA-cam. It really lacks something without the choir
Basil Poledorous shows his awesomeness once again!
Two fools who laugh at death. Do you know what horrors lie beyond that wall?
Do you know what horrors are beyond these walls?...no....then you go first!
Best song ever
Como Poden
Did they ever re-release the soundtrack with this song added to it. I've had my Conan CD since the 90's but I'll buy it again if it includes this track.
Yeah, I have a CD sountrack and this track ain't there....someone is gonna die!
Very well done, thank you!
Awesome!

They really fucked up only making 2 Conan movies. Anyone else with me?
TokixWartooth They fucked up, making the second one a pile of shit.
Ben Davidson was really good in this scene
Interestingly, this from the The Cantigas Of Santa Maria, a collection of Middle Ages songs/poems, with every one of them mentioning the Virgin Mary.... who is the woman, mentioned in Genesis, who crushed the head of the serpent. And what happens in the Conan movie when this song plays? Conan sticks the giant snake right through the head, then chops it off!
I never like to bash newer renditions of movies, I don't have the tongue for it. I ask that we just keep to the style of these old non shakey camera ways. But if you rather make garbage than epics..... TO HELL WITH YOU!!!
Does anyone know what type of stringed instrument is used on this track? The drum sounds like a tombak.
Classic is the best
