Not many artist can shred solos such as Reapers one or yet Animals one while having those skills on a piano. Matt is a pure genius.

Playing guitar and piano like this, singing the way he does, composing all these songs, not to mention his stage charisma... he's definitely the most talented musician from his generation, at least in rock music.

Honestly up until now I thought muse was overrated, I hadn't really listened to much of them, but after hearing Matt play, I've really started to get into them. As a classical pianist myself, I really respect this man's talent.
Yeah, I'm a huge Muse fan, and I've always felt like their mainstream songs, are not their best songs, like Uprising for example, it's a good song, but it's not their A material and it makes me wonder why that's the one song that gets all the attention.

SnakeEater866 Because most people don't know shit about good music. Well, that might be subjective (that sure as hell IS objective) but lets be honest, the stuff most people listen to is lame and flat. Muse is using everything technology has to offer to create art and still stick to their Progressive Rock roots. The lesser known songs are always the better ones. For example my definite favorites from The 2nd Law were Animals, Explorers and Follow Me.

Honestly, it kind of saddens me that Matt Bellamy prefers the guitar over the piano because I think his piano work is amazing, how he incorporates it to rock. I can see why he prefers the guitar, being a stage performer touring over the world, having more freedom showing passion with playing the guitar, but still his piano work is amazing. I fucking love Explorers, Exogenesis Symphony, Apocalypse Please, Space Dementia. and even songs where the piano is only part of it like In Your World(which in my opinion doesn't stand out as much after the intro) New Born, Citizen Erased, and The Globalist. So yeah, I hope in the future Matt continues making piano based songs like the first few example I listed.
what strikes me about matt bellamy is: there are perfect pianists out there and perfect guitarists and perfect singers. and there are people who are alright at all of them. BUT HE IS PERFECT IN ALL DISCIPLINES. plus he eben writes freaking good lyrics. honestly, too much talent on one human being...
Matt is the most amazing musician in the world and needs to get more credit for his work. He's an artist and what he does it beautiful. This gives me chills and so does everything else he does, gawd I love him so much
he gets a fair share of credit already but theres no doubting hes an amazing artist!

This comment was 3 years ago. I just want to redact that he is not gifted. He truly put effort. That effort has paid of in “gifts” in theory. However, everything has been work alone. That piano riff would alone take weeks to do right, years to come up with.

Matt Bellamy truly does deserve the title of Artist. He is a lyrical genius and his musical skill is remarkable. I honestly believe he could write a symphony that would easily rival anything that beehthoven or mozart created. The name of the band is very apt too. Keep it up Matt. He is a great musician, there a lot of people more skilled with 1 instrument, but this guy can do it all sing, songwriter, play piano to a great level, play guitar to a great level.

I listened to this going through Austria and listeing to the music really gave me goosebumps and reminded me of the hollocause it brought a tear to my eye!

So much goes into making music tho and understanding the business and the art of RECORDING. Bellamy understands all of this to the T. so don't hate on Bellamy for being a mediocre pianist in comparison with whomever you're thinking of. Can they write symphonies and amazing rock songs and shred the guitar? perhaps. but this man truly deserves the credit he's given.
Oh, I just LOVE MUSE. I could imagine MUSE making music with Peter Bence. That would be an inner firework. 🎉

I don't think the reason real Muse fans are hesitant to welcome Twilight fans because they think they're stupid, I think it's because Twilight is almost a cult now. If the fans were really interested they would know more than just the one or two songs, it's a conflict of interest that a lot of devoted muse fans don't appreciate. Myself included. But, if they're on videos like this and can actually appreciate the amazing amount of talent our favorite band has, that means they're making an effort.

I love this so much, so beautiful. Just like the man playing it :3 I love how matt just shuffles down the chair at the beginning, gradually getting towards the end... then shuffling back up again. Cute Cute !
People say that Matt is no Rachmaninov when it comes to piano. This is obviously true, because Matt has his own style. Of course it has its influences, but it is used entirely differently. Rachmaninov never played guitar, sang, or did stage acrobatics ( especially not all in one gig.) What makes Matt REALLY good is that he is a jack of all trades AND he's a freaking good stage performer. And he has a British accent.

If you don't find this good now then you never will. It's obviously not to your taste/not impressive to you which is fine. While he is talented, it's more his manner and way of going about things which is what people find so amazing. For example, a lot of pianists know they are good, and after playing they expect an applause for doing a good job. Whereas he is more like "so.. yeah that's it" which makes him a bit more humble and down to earth. I for one really enjoy that about him.
