- Colin and Me are going to have to part ways. Narrowboat life can make it difficult when there are differences in what life throws at you. I'm working in Oman and Colin wants to travel. We're still going to keep in touch but, for the moment, we need to part ways.

Hi Chris,
Keep in the back of your mind that you and Colin are not saying "good bye" as that means you are parting ways permanently. As long as you and Colin are on the canal system there is always a chance of crossing paths again. Not only that with todays world of technology the two of you can stay in touch visually and verbally. Your parting words should be "I'll see you later chum".

The Narrowboat Pirate - gay female ex-teacher who after many years teaching moved aboard. Has a rescued dog. Trades in pirate stuff. 38,100 subscribers.
Boat Time - young couple with a dog (and recently their rabbit died) 15,700 subscribers.
Making New Memories - retired couple, no pets. 8,600 subscribers.
Living Life in the Slow Lane - married couple - I think he was in the Forces for a while. 36,400 subscribers (just sold their boat, so that one is ending)
Narrowboat Chef. Young couple with 12,000 subscribers - but also selling their boat now.
Robbie Cummins - Youngish single male - adds a pub of the week to his vlog. 45,400 subscribers
So it seems that a sexy female is not what is needed for numbers. A pet, art or a cafe and recipe book seem to be very useful factors. I also watch a number of sailing videos and in that case I would agree that a girl in a bikini seems to result in massive numbers. Canal vlogs largely seem to attract a different audience though.
Glad to see you blogging again. Personally, I love your blogs. They are always interesting and thought-provoking. And I like the way you interact with the people you meet. Keep up the good work.

I’m a firm believer of life follows a path for a reason and all the people we meet teach us something, sometimes in a positive, sometimes in a negative (but that teaches us not to be complacent with who we are as a person).
You have to get out in the world and make your own path, the world won’t come to you…
You have so much too give, now go maximize it!
Remember colin doesn't know a stranger. I hope to be over in September. I will worn you. I am very different from him.. one being a woman 😂... the other lot more quiet,and not good and joining in at first .. so sometimes I give the impression that I am not happy, but I am .. I just stand back for a while ... anyway, glad you too met. we all need friends, good ones in our lives ...

He comes across as such a nice man, and the fact he says he feels happy around you says a lot about you. Great to see footage of Oman. Interesting video Chris, and . . . . . some say there is 'gum etiquette' to consider when chewing gum in public or in close proximity of a friend (the one that was sat next to you). Also as an example, it may be considered impolite to walk around with a wad of gum in Europe, and should be adopted here, and it is not appropriate to chew gum in churches or at parties. Just an observation mate :-) . . . . . Pongo Out :-)

My dad loved the heat when he was in the RA in North Africa and later in India, Persia, Palestine, Sicily and Italy. Hated the cold. I see you caught a bit of sun. Take it easy Ole Son.

What's attracted me to your vlogs Chris is your an every day honest guy with no pretense you don't bullshit and you care more about the quality of your vlogs than just putting something up I also admire you and anyone who serves their country and puts themselves in harms way for the freedoms that we enjoy, I also think we have the same philosophy of life in that treat others the way we would like to be treated which i dont think is practiced as much as it should be the world would be such a better place if we just focused on our commonalities rather than our differences

My favourite people are eclectic, maybe even a little eccentric. It's not hard to imagine getting along with Colin, and I think you would take any amount of friendly jousting and be able to dish it out as well. Trying to learn something about everything--like your 15 minutes a day--is a practice I have had for years.
Your merch elicited some attention on Friday. I was at the hospital for my final (I hope) surgery. "Maximise Life" struck a chord with the nurses in the recovery ward. Much like when I first found your vlog, I'm very sore, but a significant step back to a "normal" that might even include travel.
Thank you for sharing, especially the footage in Middle East. And of course the chat with Colin, although I skipped bits. Nice of you to connect again, enjoy your stay abroad with your activities.❤

Great vlog Chris. We have missed Wednesday mornings with you. Lovely chat with Colin. You are completely right about the people on the boats being key to the community feeling and how it works on the canal system. Even though our chats with people are only 10 -20 minutes or so we remember those people and those chats and when we next see them - which we inevitably do - we remember those conversations and catch up. In one of my chats with one of those very characters this week he said ‘it’s a small world on the canal’ - he summed it up perfectly - it is. Debbie and Roger.
So lovely to get to 'know" Colin a little better. So good to see you looking so well Chris, you look well tanned....jealous and really happy. Perseverance leads to this kind of reward working in such a lovley hot country, by working through the challenges of living alone originally on your narrowboat, so chuffed you have found a balance that works for you. We thoroughly enjoyed this video, you are greatly missed 😊
