man between this and the KT p50, the PSA 5.7 rock, the ruger pistol/LC charger/carbine in 5.7, CMMG Dissent tisas 5.7, MPAs long standing 5.7 mac11s, CMMG Banshee, Diamondback dbx...im amazed at the 5.7 resurgence the past couple years
Yeah I bought one just because I got a PSA Rock for like 280 bucks but I've probably in the last year only run about 250 rounds through that pistol it gets a little pricey
I’ve been a keltec fan for 20 years. I’ve had almost every gun they’ve ever produced at some point. I had the gen 1 sub 2k in 9mm, I’ve had 2 gen 2s one in 40 and the other in 9mm which I still own, and now I just scooped up this 5.7 gen 3. Kel-tec just gets better and better. They started with affordable but not necessarily reliable products, and now they’re an industry leader. No one else takes the risks that they do. Now, even Smith and Wesson copies their designs (they have their version of a folding carbine AND a KSG clone). Plus, keltec is made right here in the Gunshine state. What’s not to love about them?
I have a gen2 in 40sw…never any issues. Good piece. I also have a red dot (side flip M carbo). One thing I think I changed my mind about is having the red dot, the angled grip…for that matter, having anything on it at all. This thing is a contingency gun. The stock sights work fine, at least out to 150/200 yds.. It really doesn’t need a dot. They even look ridiculous with all the AR furniture on them. The main thing with this is how easy it is to stick in a backpack anyway. It’s one step up from a pistol and not meant to take on the role of a rifle anyway. I’m taking all the crap off mine.
I bought a new truck in time for Christmas, I think this will be my new Truck Gun! There will be one of these under or behind the back seat by Valentines Day (as a Valentines Gift to myself)…
I picked up the 9mm gen 3 from PSA o. Sale for just over 3 bills I've placed an olight and a good red dot on it and fired a few hundred rounds. Perfect so far! Sweet stowability too.
Always liked the 2000 but have held off till the Gen 3. I have had mine for about six months in 9mm with Glock mags. Mounted a red dot and also a green laser for up close and low light. With the laser it can be fired tucked in tight under the arm SMG style in tight spaces. I don’t like mounted flash lights since you must point your weapon to scan an area. This has become my go to weapon for a home defense / truck gun for both two and four legged varmints. My 12 ga. Is now relegated to a back up.
The problem with the five seven is you want to shoot it and you want to shoot it fast but every 25 round magazine you run through those things going to cost you like 15 bucks you go out to the range to shoot your fancy new rifle and you've gone through $85 worth of ammunition in 10 minutes
It’s a cool round. I didn’t know about this gun being available in this caliber. Now keltek has the cool new pistol .have to look into ammo cost and see if i can make it worth it to have it around. I know it is cool but have more guns that I don’t shoot as much as I would like because of ammo cost.
The gen 3 looks to be better than previous, I handled one at a gun shop, but I'm still not giving KT any money. I bought a Ruger PCC and am very happy with it.
This thing is kind of like a mini rifle at this point. The ammo is a pocket sized rifle caliber in my opinion. Definitely gonna add one to the inventory 👍🏽
I need this. Maybe in the future you can test it out at 100 yards or more with a scope. Seeing how it did with the red dot, I bet it will perform well. Thanks for spending the $ to put it through 800 rounds. Did it have any malfunctions?
There is a con you may have missed. The out of battery protection has a lot of slop in it. You could have the case sticking a good 6 mm out of the chamber and it will still fire. This is a big problem for the 5.7x28 because it is a KB prone cartridge. Though I tested the most common cause, case neck separation, by putting a cut off case neck into the chamber, then chambered a dummy round, and I got a dead trigger. I recommend getting the heavy weight bolt regardless. IDK why Kel-tec makes their 5.7 bolts so light, a heavier bolt resists shoulder blowout better, which makes case neck separation less likely. That's why a Ruger LC can handle FN's hot ammo all day long, but the Kel-Tec P50 can't.
Interesting. Is poor OOB protection a common Kel tec thing? Because I have 2 p17 pistols that would fire OOB that had to be sent back for warranty repair - found this out from a case blowout peppering my wife with brass frag.
Try a 25yd zero with the 5.7- it's pretty close to a 25/200 zero. It will only be 5 inches or so high at 150ish and closer to your zero inside that. Zeroing closer puts you higher sooner, and further you loose that secondary zero .
I got the 9mm since my side arm is a 9mm. I got it on a deal for just under $250 out the door somehow from psa on a deal they ran ahortly. I got the romeo red dot that fits perfect on it and snaps on in just a few seconds. Glad i waited to get the gen 3
5.7 in a PCC makes a lot of sense. 9mm doesn't even stay supersonic to 100 yards and drops like a rock. This should stay supersonic well past 300, maybe up to 500 with the good ammo. Definitely more than what you can accomplish with a handgun and a red dot. Would be nice to see how it does at 100 yards on a bench with a scope.
I just had to say I LOVE MY GEN 2 sub2000. I had zero problems. had one in black and 1 in nickel boron and both work flawlessly ( The black one got stolen ) I have to get a gen 3 now and im also getting the 5.7
Nice video....a pluto or switchback suppressor would finish off that gun perfectly. Use a lower moa red dot to be more accurate at 100yds...that did the trick for me.
Never know Holosun optics grow from one to another outside its open and inside enclosed !!! Seems like a good gun I have had all 3 and there ok..I miss my original sub9 that was metal but might just remembering it cause I was young !
I like the concept of these, but they have always been a deal-breaker due to the reciprocating charging handle. (They are in no way friendly to long beards!)
The gen 3 is true to the Keltec reputation for innovation, but it solves a non existent problem. I own the MCARBO M-Series (gen 2 with a myriad of upgrades) and simply mounted my optic using a 45 degree offset m-lok mount, (not trusting the polymer picatinny to hold zero over time), so it hugs the side of the PCC, stuck a small but powerful light with integrated pressure pads flush to the left side of the fore end and added an AFG. It's more compact folded and unfolded than the setup shown here. Not that this is bad and not that the gen 3 is bad (other than it comes with no irons). It's not better than the gen 2 - it's just different. The rotating fore end is a cool feature, but your optic ends up sticking out the side like a big goiter ready to snag on something inside your bag. (MCARBO's horrible optic mount solution shared this issue.) I'd take the M-Series anytime over a stock gen 3. Unfortunately, you can't get them anymore. However, I admit that if I didn't have the M-Series and had to buy a stock rifle then I _might_ choose a gen 3 over a gen 2. Something Keltec _should_ have and _needs_ to address is the very uncomfortable butt stock. It requires the addition of a Missouri Tactical pad - which I have on mine. With the weird shape of the butt, the blow back system can make it seem like the SUB has more kick than an AR-15 and causes some discomfort. I don't mean to sound negative. I'm just glad I bought the one I have when I did. This was a very good review, but could use more info. The upgraded charging handle wasn't mentioned. Does the gen 3 still come with aluminum pins and screws rather than steel? A polymer trigger and polymer trigger guard? Does it still sport a polymer feed ramp or did they wisely switch that to steel? Is the trigger pull improved over the horrible stock gen 2? However, if I were unfamiliar with the little PCC there is enough information here to inspire additional research. By the way, I absolutely love my SUB2K. The only time I ever had an issue was when I first bought it. I purchased a bunch of ETS magazines and the SUB2K _hated_ them. Every one of them caused a failure to feed. I gave those away, bought different mags and never had another issue.

Too much money for a gun with plastic in the internals and trigger group. Then spend another 200-300 on upgrades to get rid of the plastic. No thanks. S&W FPC.

Thanks buddy. Gun is legit

Great video! Humor and real world people, not just gun experienced folks, very well done!
Just bought one at the Stinkadena Gun Show, thx to this vid!! I was influenced!! 😂

heck ya. I really like it. PSA runs some solid sales
Just did the exact same thing! It’s a great gun, especially for the $.

Some company should start producing super cheap steel cased 5.7 ammo😢

You will not regret it
After tonight 5.7x28 will be no where to be found.......🤣🤣🤣
😆 🤣 😂 😹
I put a Red Lion front end on my gen 2 40 cal. & thinking about replacing the red dot with a scope, to see farther out...
I hope with the next gen, they introduce some sturdier feeling plastic & a non reciprocating charging handle.
I need this. Maybe in the future you can test it out at 100 yards or more with a scope. Seeing how it did with the red dot, I bet it will perform well. Thanks for spending the $ to put it through 800 rounds. Did it have any malfunctions?
I was thinking about that. Next time
I have 3 gen 2's and have had zero malfunctions or issues out of any of them.
100% from day one.
Great review! Was the charging handle easier to operate on the 9mm gen 3 model?
100%. Gun is easy peezy
I have a couple them. Pretty sweet, especially for sub 400 bucks. Just wish it would have been made for the PSA or Ruger 57 magazine
Looks like a solid backpack gun. If your nephew is hiking in Colorado he should get a 10mm though, lol. Why the switch from the 510 to the AEMS?
Ohhhhhh.. you noticed that. I got a killer deal on the AEMS and felt it really fit the gun well. Hope all is well buddy. you going to Shot Show?
I've shot Gen 1 9mm years ago and as a lefty had issues with the mag release but still fun

250 is a steal
Maybe iron sight for 100 yards is better?
That 50 yard paper was AWESOME.
Man thank you. I appreciate it
@SMASHTIME hey do you think keltec would ever make a PMR 30 in 5.7 i honestly wish they would take that model and just extend the barrel a bit
Stay tuned for 2025
Ask Kel Tec, not a reviewer.😅
Scored the gen 3 57x28 for $350 from my guy , can't wait to hit the range 🔥🤘
5.7 in a PCC makes a lot of sense. 9mm doesn't even stay supersonic to 100 yards and drops like a rock. This should stay supersonic well past 300, maybe up to 500 with the good ammo. @@SMASHTIME I have a cmr30 and an ar57.
This changes everything

I was thinking of getting like a 1.5 dot. I just need the money hahaha
Noticed you had two different holosun optics on there, which do you like better?
Never know Holosun optics grow from one to another outside its open and inside enclosed !!! Seems like a good gun I have had all 3 and there ok..I miss my original sub9 that was metal but might just remembering it cause I was young !
I'd love to see a more comprehensive accuracy test with a magnified optic out to 100 yards again
Good job -- thanks!
Thank you for watching
You getting the new pistol?
I bought a gen 2 when they did the rebates and were dirt cheap. I don't really like it. I may sell it and get a s&w fpc.
Gen 3 really feels like a different animal
So when you fold it looks like it twists
yes. much better than the older design
Nice video
Thank you sir.
👍🏻👍🏻
I still want one with a roller delay locking system like an HK in 10mm then I'll buy one, until then I'll get a Ruger 10mm carbine!
What kind of magazines does this take?
FN 5.7 mags.
A 100yd indoor range?! Wow!
In the texas heat its nice to have AC at 100 yards,
@@SMASHTIME would be nice in Phoenix
Will mag fit anything else?
FN 5.7
Are these ones doubke stack mags??
No
I got a gen2 mcarbo version. It's fun to shoot. Its not everyone's cup of tea. Its a strange gun.
I assume I can shoot +p 9mm in mine now seeing they make it in 5.7........
Según veo yo es ideal para llevar en la mochila .es liviana .y se puede llevar muchos cargadores incluso varias cajas de munición .

Add the available rubber butt pad and that hard plastic is no more! Feels great against your shoulder!
Its a non issue with 5.7 If it were 10mm or 9mm then maybe
I thought it was the "I just saved myself uh hundred and fiddy bucks"
How is this for lefties? Seems like the ejection would be right in my face
wife shot it lefty and it was good to go. Brass shoots more to the side than back
Slappy slappy 😁😁😁😁👍
Still doesn't make any sense that they didn't do a CMR-5.7 instead. That platform is perfect for a cartridge like 5.7x28
You never know...
It looks to me that it would be rather quiet with a silencer attachment
Oh yes that would be pretty slick indeed
2;07 safety on first pull. a lot of shooters do that doah.
I like the concept of these, but they have always been a deal-breaker due to the reciprocating charging handle. (They are in no way friendly to long beards!)
lmao love how the kid gave it .2 points extra just because charging handle, which is treated like an mp5 with the slap.
hahahaa.. Ya man you never know with kids what they like or what they will say
i had no idea the sub2k had a 5.7
Local gun store/pawn shop has a 9mm version. Hmmmmmm????
9mm is good. but in 5.7 its pretty amazing.
Can buy them brand new in 9mm for $249 if you hunt around ....has been like that for years
Its so light!!! Piled a bunch shit on it so its not anymore hahaha...sure that's a plan!!!
Welp I found my new purchase for the month lol

As the 5.7 continues to grow in popularity the price of the ammunition should go down.
As soon as i find one under 400 bucks it will be mine l
man that would have to be a heck of a deal. You will enjoy it big time
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
If that was a body or silhouette at 100 yards it would be a hit.
Thank you. I feel better now hahahaa.. Im still just an OK shot
Need in 10mm
Do you have a video on the gen 2?
Yes I did it last year. Just search for it sir
I'm on the fence.....I wish it took PSA Rock magazines. But really I like this more than the AR57.
Its pretty sweet.
hard pass as it uses FN mags....shoulda used either Ruger or PSA mags
You can get the pro mags for them
Recoil looks nonexistent
Yes. Feels like airsoft.
Good option for the poors
good for all. I like it a lot and im only semi poor hahaha
If they made this & the pistol in 10mm, fed by the same mags, I'd get both!
Awl yea……
high cost of ammo and, from what I understand, not reloadable. Not sure why on the reload side. I think the dies are out there
Its super slick
No way 😂
should have gone 10mm
5.7 is where its at for sure on this platform
Fiocchi 5.7 works in every gun and is cheap
I have to stop watching these reviews. I am such a sucker for cheap guns. I just bought it in FDE. 3rd gun this year.

5.7x28 still too expensive for my blood.
charge it to your crips
had to
Still cheaper then 5.56 223
