Fantastic show bud Stevie my biggest hero glad ya like it stevies always Awsome
Thanks for the review... I had already received and opened both sets, but was just looking to see what thoughts and opinions others had.
I agree the folded insert just seems pointless, other then possibly only to be a space filler!!??!! And its not even in the Vinyl box set.
And i understand that the liner notes might have just been copied from the originals.. But a few of them just seem a bit blurry on too of being so small.
Not sure if they need better QC on the printing or if they should have reworked or made totally new liner notes to make them bold, crisp, and clear!!
Still happy to have both sets!! But disappointed that i did a pre-order only to find they are being sold cheeper elsewhere !!
I just ordered this box set! Thanks for the informative review. It does make sense for me since I've never owned most of these CD's. All I have is that Crystal Visions Best Of, and only recently bought the 3 CD Bella Donna reissue; so I've never even heard the rest of her catalogue. I also ordered one of her biographies from Amazon, am going to see a Fleetwood Mac tribute band this weekend, and will be seeing Stevie in concert for the first time ever later this year!
Thank you for that unboxing...I had recently had the old original CDs from Rock A Little to In Your Dreams, in jewelcases...I HATE jewelcases!! They get old, worn, cracked & scratched, hinges break off, etc...what I do with an artist with large catalogues (5 albums & up), I take the inserts & discs out of the plastic cases & put them all in a ziplock sandwich baggie, and it saves a ton of room...just recently did it with newly acquired Sinead O'Connor CDs I got used...back to Stevie, I have the 2 deluxes of Bella Donna & The Wild Heart, plus other best-of's Stand Back, Crystal Visions (CD/DVD) & the 3CD Enchanted boxset...I did have Timespace as well but don't need it anymore cuz those 3 exclusive tracks are all on this set...I admit, it does look great, the same size as the Joni Mitchell Archive sets, but the execution is cheap cheap cheap!! I do want this set though, as I read the newly reissued albums after The Wild Heart are newly remastered for 2023, the cardboard mini-LPs, and the rarities double CD...also I read that 24 Carat Gold has like 4 bonus tracks too...the big disappointment looks to be that sheet on top, like that's it?? Does it have a pull ribbon to get the discs out at least?? And as for Buckingham Nicks, there is a semi-legal remastered CD from South Korea with like 11 bonus tracks & packaged like a Japanese CD in a clear plastic sleeve & OBI strip and it sounds amazing...as for buying this, I'll wait for a price drop...saw it for $99 at Rough Trade and $79 on Amazon...there is a highly limited 16LP clear vinyl version on the Rhino store that's like $300...no thanks, I'll stick with the CDs even tho the inserts on the vinyls will likely be easier to read...and one big missed opportunity with this set is there could have easily been an extra disc or two with all the rare hard to find 12" versions from rare vinyl...not surprised...the 12" of "I Can't Wait" is on Enchanted at least...
I love it totally
Cool! 👍
Ive got no prior Stevie Nicks albums in my collection So this box set is marvellous. I get everything collected.
Yes exactly! The box was designed for someone like you. Plus you get all the bonus material too! Enjoy!
I only have 2 of her solo albums, so I might get it. Such a big boxset and no booklet, that is shameful though. Thanks for the review, Brendon. Cheers.
Yeah I wanted to let people know so they aren’t surprised like I was. Really shocked after I opened it to find only CDs. Good thing I was buying it for the Rarities and nothing else.
There probably isn't a booklet because there was one in the Enchanted box set, and maybe in the deluxe Crystal Visions collection, but there was definitely a video collection with commentary on each video by Nicks, herself.
I got the cassette tape of Buckingham/Nicks way back in the day. You have inspired me to listen to it again, if it still plays.
It’s a bootleg
It is 1973 Anthem Records on Polydoor
Asked Father Xmas for this one. Hoping ….oh nothing about the Buckingham Nicks cd in there? Kinda disappointing.I’m getting the cd version hopefully) I’ve still an awesome SONY stereo. A couple I’ve got. Few got lost in moves. Digging on the rarities though! Love me some Stevie ever since the FM white album ! I’ve seen FM tour Rumours in Toronto yrs ago.
Though, sadly due to my illness ,never seen her live solo.
I follow her on YT not the other social medias
Stevie herself has said she’s not a fan of social media”
What a inspirational rock chick to me she’s been plus survivor!
She’s also helped me get back plus some others ) to my first love to …writing and …Yes.
Poetry.
❤it’s very self soothing.
Lyrical genius is Stevie Nicks.
Listen between the words.
She’s so precious to me and millions of others
Then the voice!
Of course!
First it was Rhiannon that drew me in with her mysterious spell.
So, I’m now a Baby Rhiannon at age 62 yrs old.
She calls her fans female Baby Rhiannons
Well, take it your American.
In Cda well over this $180 or more I think!
Great video Brendon! I’m a huge Stevie fan since the early 80’s. A huge missed opportunity is the non existence of a hard cover book and live dvd/Blu-ray. They should have included her 1981 White Wing Dove concert from HBO. This is only a $39 value box set. I got the 10 CD box from ZZ Top for $32 last week. As a collector I’ll prob still pick it up…but wanted to give you my thoughts!! Keep up the great work sir!!
Yeah a DVD with music videos would have been cool too! Big missed opportunity to not have anything else. But I do love the 2 CD set of Rarities. That part was done right.
Do you have Crystal Visions? That has a great DVD of videos. 😎
Thanks Brandon for reviewing the Box Set. It's been sitting in my cart on Amazon for a week; the $70 sticker price stopped me from pulling the trigger to buy. Like you, I'm really only interested in the "rarities." I own all of her solo albums. I love her outtake, demo, studio work, original Buckingham/Nicks versions, like "Fireflies," which are raw & beautiful. Also, rare Bob Welch/Stevie recordings. As a graphic artist, Im stunned by the sloppiness of the jackets & inserts. Thousands of rare photos could have been used. The lack of creativity is surprising, & seemingly thrown together at the last minute. So, my decision is, "No," despite being a huge fan of Stevie.
Hi Elle! I’m glad the review was helpful but sad to hear your miss out on the Rarities. I’ve found if you want a bit you might find someone on eBay selling the discs separately and you’ll be able to buy the rarities disc by itself for a lot less. That said, I hope the record label releases it on its own. It makes a great stand alone album. Cool that you’re a graphic designer. I’m an architect. 😀
I just received mine today from Deep Discount, was $20 off, I like that. Her solo album came out when I was 15 played that album over and over, still have it. Being 15 I loved Stevie’s voice even when I bought Fleetwood Mac albums I went to the songs she wrote 1st. I buy everything she put out seen her in concert with n without Fleetwood Mac!! Great review.
$20 of what total price? Was it $70 in the end or more than Amazon?
@@BrendonSnyder it was $78.79, it was Pop Market’s Daily Deal for 1 day, it was not Deep Discount.
@Stephen1164 I also bought mine from Pop Market but with a 15% discount, so I did actually pay $70 for it. Which was actually $10 cheaper than Amazon at that particular moment, being that Amazon changes their prices on what seems like an almost daily basis.
I came 😅 home from work to see '13 cds, on my door step delivered today. That's a record delivery for me.
That’s awesome! I love it when that happens! Enjoy!
Thank you. I hope that, when the individual Deluxe remasters (w/ the demos and unreleased tracks) of the albums come out, they keep the mini-LP CD look, but, offer additional thick booklets that come with the liner notes and stories of the various eras these albums were born in. My guess is, those versions will come around 2024, hopefully.
I could be wrong, it I feel like if we were going to get deluxe editions of the other albums it would have already happened. That said, Stevie sold her catalogue so this isn’t being handled by her. So who knows where it will go from here.
@@BrendonSnyder Well, I know that she's probably got dozens of unreleased, alternate, and remixed (12-inch) tracks, along w/ live radio concerts (esp. The Other Side Of The Mirror) from virtually ALL of her solo albums. I would be shocked, if Rhino/Warner Bros. decided NOT to release those sought-after tracks within their respective album periods. I know that Stevie apparently has both Songs From The Vault Vol. 2 and The Song Of Rhiannon on the way, for The 2020s; so, new material will be forthcoming, regardless. IF it is true, that there will be no more Deluxe sets (which would be really disappointing and sad), I might just have to buy this unique Box Set, after all...
P.S. It truly IS A MISSED OPPORTUNITY that 1973's Buckingham/Nicks wasn't remastered and included in this collection (inc. some of the additional songs they recorded, in hopes of including it on a possible Buckingham/Nicks II album, in 1974). It would have really made this Box Set an even more important collection. Unfortunately, I think the disunion between Nicks and Buckingham may be keeping it from getting a legitimate official re-release. Stevie and Lindsey both own the rights to the album, and I believe they both have to sign off on any version of its release. Apparently, Stevie had to ask Lindsey to be legally able to include 1973's, "Long Distance Winner" (from the Buckingham/Nicks LP) on her 1998 Box Set, Enchanted: The Works Of Stevie Nicks.
Thanks for opening your box, it's $195 in Toronto, three times the cost as itunes. This collection is cool, but as a new collector, I want to read the lyrics which are her strong point. I'll buy CDs used when I come across them and the collection on itunes
Great video, Brendon. Now we need a Lindsey Buckingham Solo albums CD collection! LOVE his 1984 gem Go Insane.
That would be good. However his whole catalogue is not on one label like Stevie Nicks. He spent the early years on Reprise but later years on a number of different labels.
@@BrendonSnyder Thats true. Do you have his two 80s albums, Law and Order and Go Insane? I was 12 when Out Of The Cradle from 1992 was released and that was the first Buckingham album I bought. A marvellous collection of songs. I love Stevie but she's only my third favourite singer/songwriter from Mac, behind Lindsey and Christine Mcvie. I will eventually pick up the new Stevie collection, though.
His latest self-titled release from a couple years ago is magnificent! Big fan of Buckingham here, I've heard he's working on a new album.
@@BrendonSnyderactually not really...all or most are on Warner labels like Asylum, Elektra, Warner & Reprise and the Buckingham McVie album on Atlantic...so they could all be boxed together like the Stevie set also on Rhino...there was only one I remember that was on, like, Fontana or something...it was after Gift of Screws...but yeah, I'd buy a Lindsey album box hell yeah!!
@@tendraftsdeeplove all his solo albums & that 3CD solo anthology is killer, with all the soundtrack songs & live tracks...
Excellent video. I have it in my Amazon cart but now I am not so sure it is worth buying. Like you I have all the jewel case versions. Tough call. Thanks
Glad to help out. I hate to prevent people from buying it but it’s always better to know what you’re in for.
@@BrendonSnyder Agreed. I would say that better than 90% of the time the unboxing is a push toward purchasing. My favorite box set format is the Marillion and Jethro Tull book box sets. A ton of content and it is just a great format. They both give really good music and video too. I don’t have all of the JT but I do the Marillion as they are my favorite band.
Thanks Brendon, was thinking of purchasing but have to say the package looks mean in the extreme. Decided to fill the gaps in my S Nicks collection with old jewel case releases from ebay
I’m a jewel case guy myself!
@@BrendonSnydernot me, HATE jewelcases!!
@@BrendonSnyderI actually have a TON of empty jewelcases that I can sell you or trade you for something...I have stacks of them...
I ordered the LP edition, supposed to arrive tomorrow. Thanks for the insight.
The lp edition is where it’s at. It’s gorgeous.
Enjoy!
@alltheworldsastage899 Please be sure to listen to all the lps. 8 out my 16 skip and I haven't heard anything from Rhino yet. Has anyone else received damaged vinyls???
@@crowoath8044 Thanks for the heads up, I only have the 24K left to play, but so far, so good. Not even a hint of a scratch. I hope they take care of you.
I don’t have any of Stevie’s solo stuff. Will probably start picking some of her stuff up soon, but this price seems a little too high for me. Cool mention of the Buckingham Nicks album. That one is so great and deserves a remastered cd release. I’ve seen some bootlegs of it and will be adding it to my collection at some point.
Definitely would be better with a full booklet and some collectables. For the price, it is a fair amount of music for a fan that also wants all the albums. As for me, I'm not a big fan of remastered stuff, I'll stick with my OG vinyl releases from the 1980's. Great video B! Thanks
Yeah it’s priced very fairly. Even for me who just bought it for 2 CDs, it still was worth it. But they could have done so much more. It is surprising that Rhino didn’t do more. I wonder who stopped it. Because I’m quite sure Rhino proposed at a minimum a book.
@@BrendonSnyderI was first expecting the deluxe CDs to continue after The Wild Heart, but it stopped & they put out this box instead...I think it partly had to do with Stevie selling her solo catalogue to Primary Wave & then Rhino/Warners washing their hands clean...that's what it looks like...
Easy pass…
I used to own Buckingham and Nicks on vinyl. I should have never gotten rid of that album.
$70.00??? WTF!!! It is AUD$230 here in Australia. Given the cardboard sleeves, it's a hard no from me. Thank you so much for showcasing this set because I was going to order it. I can't believe they didn't even give jewel cases... $230 fricken dollars... Unbelievable.
That's crazy. Here in Finland it's 120€ and that's a lot too but nothing compared to you guys in Australia.
Yeah that is a crazy price for it! I would pass at that price too. Besides they’ll probably release the Rarities discs a stand alone album in 6 months anyway.
Jewelcases are terrible...happy they use cardboard, jewelcases take up too much room and are ugly...
@@BrendonSnyderI don't think so...this was a final release via Rhino/Warners...she just sold her catalogue to Primary Wave...
I’m from Australia as well and $230 is a bit steep. Love Stevie Nicks, but I might wait, although iTunes has it for $119.99!
Thank you for this review and unboxing. I'm going to skip this boxset at least until I can buy it a lot cheaper than the 120€ that it cost over here in Finland.
Sorry to hear it’s so much more outside the US. I hope you find a copy for a reasonable price soon.
thank u sir
👍
got both versions of the box set. not sure why the albums after rock a little was released on 2lp. I have a single lp version of the other side of the mirror, probably sure the others could have fit on 1 disc, except for the rarities (of course) that could have been on 2lp instead of 3.
(this Vivid Sound release of Buckingham Nicks is a nice item as well - 21 tracks in all including some cool other cuts - maybe some are in this box set?)
No, as I said in the beginning there is no material from Buckingham Nicks as part of the boxset.
Haven't received mine yet but looks really cool.I did get my Neil Young box official release series 22.23.24 and 25 from Amazon which I have to send back because the box is bent way out of shape all crinkled up figures right Brendon
Oh man I so hate that. My Stevie box had some minor bent corners when it came but I was able to bend them back into position without much noticeable creasing so I opted to keep mine. But I had one of the Neil Young boxes in the past arrived totally crushed and had to send it back too. Amazon just absolutely sucks with shipping. They are the worst!
@@BrendonSnyder I ordered my Stevie Nicks box from importcds and they're great at packaging and getting sent out.Just got my Neil Young in the mail much better than the first but it couldn't of been any worse lol.
@@thomaswery3087sorry about that...just got my Neil Young set Saturday & it arrived in perfect shape, maybe I was lucky?? Killer box btw...
@@lawrencedavis4406 Got the replacement one yesterday much better
Since I don't own any of the albums, I think it's a nice way to get them all together. But I would have prefered another format (the Bowie's boxset format was good) OR a hardcover book in that format ! This boxset is more expensive here in France : 92 euros on Amazon.
Yeah it’s perfect if you don’t own the albums yet. Then it’s great!
I hope the rarities CDs will be released separately since I have all the originals.
It won't, guaranteed...cuz Stevie sold her solo catalogue to Primary Wave & this set is basically Rhino/Warners putting out a final release & washing their hands clean...
According to reliable sources online, the third, fourth, fifth and sixth studio albums are newly 2023 remastered, along with everything on the two rarities discs, except for last year's "For What It's Worth" cover. The first two studio albums have the same mastering as the 2016 remasters, and the last two studio albums are not remastered. If they could make that leaflet to put on top, then why not have just made a thick booklet?
I tend to believe the albums are remastered but then why would Rhino not promote it that way? As for the booklet, I agree completely. I would have made the box smaller, added a thick book, and stated the albums are remastered. Seems simple to me.
@@BrendonSnyderyep that packaging is both deceptive & cheap even though it would look good on a shelf...I'd have made it either a thick booklet on top or CD sized...question, are the album sleeves square or slight rectangle CD case sized??
Still waiting for a 'Buckingham Nicks' cd release.
Me too! But 50 years on since it’s release, I don’t think it’s ever going to happen…officially anyway.
The Enchanted Works of Stevie Nicks has a booklet, and possibly most of the rare cuts are on the third disk.
No it doesn't...it has a few but what it has & this set does NOT have are duets & collaborations from other people's albums...they are also on the "Stand Back" set as well...but this thing has the missing rarities not on the other collections...
Yeah most of the tracks appear on Enchanted. I do not have that in my collection so I didn’t compare it but after looking it up I see that lots are there. What this collection does is just combine the studio rarities together without the demos, alternate takes and remixes that are also on Enchanted. So the Rarities disc feels like 2 more studio albums and not a hits style compilation like the boxset.
@@BrendonSnyder also, the final three albums came after Enchanted. A note to my personal tastes: TISL is some of her best work; my newest favorite from In Your Dreams,"Annabelle Lee," was recorded for TISL, but didn't make the cut. It was revamped and re-recorded for In Your Dreams; From 24k gold I love Cathouse Blues, because it has a slinky, swaggering, blues sound, and shows a side of her not previously known. Had it come out when written, it would have rendered her as a novelty song performer, as some in the industry tried to do to her in the beginning.
gotta be a Waddy Wachtel fan
I sure am! I loved his band Ronin.
I wonder if anyone has done a “ best to worse “ ranking on her releases ?
I’m sure plenty of people have. Very popular artist.
Maybe my Buckingham Nicks cd is a bootleg then?
Been issued on Vivid Sound in Japan and Big Pink in South Korea these past few years.
I've got a Korean CD version of Buckingham Nicks. May be a bootleg.
Any CD version of Buckingham Nicks is definitely a bootleg. But they’re all over the place so anyone who wants one can find the album.
@@BrendonSnyder I've got the LP and it's a fine album. It's definitely on my Most Wanted On CD albums list.
@@BrendonSnydernot sure if it's a bootleg, it's semi-legal (I have the Korean one), like those Russian 2CD hits collections...and I believe they are discontinued...
Okay. This box looks quite interesting, but what if I'm not very familiar with Stevie's music. What should I start with, in your opinion, Brendon? Is there any Stevie Nicks album that you would recommend to someone starting his adventure with her music?
Some would suggest her debut album Bella Donna because of the songs Edge Of Seventeen and Stop Dragging My Heart Around…two of her biggest hits. My favorite album is Rock A Little. But honestly you can’t go wrong with any of the first 4 albums.
@@BrendonSnyder Great, thank you so much! I will give them a chance. Thank you once again 🙂
Go with Bella Donna - a classic!
@@treff9226 I will. Thank you! 🙂
I wish I had bought this when it was $70.00! I am so mad at myself. I want this, but I can’t pay $250.00.
i bet this is one of those things that was the result of her selling her catalog
Oh you know you’re probably exactly right!
Ooh I didn’t know she sold it. That surprises me considering how she is about her work.
@@brandyl2183to Primary Wave...this set is Rhino/Warners washing their hands clean...
Still waiting on mine. Ugh!!!
Sorry to hear that. I hope it arrives soon.
10枚組の8枚のアルバムは持ってます
バラで販売してくれたら嬉しく思います
feel like if you wait a little bit, they'll release the 2 disk rarities on its own, kinda rendering this set pointless.
You may be right. I’ve noticed that with other boxsets as well.
@@BrendonSnyder this looks like a slightly higher quality version than warner's 5 cd sets.
Nope not in this case, see, Stevie just sold her solo catalogue to Primary Wave, so this box is likely a final release by Rhino/Warners before they wash their hands clean...this is likely it...
I'm pretty sure I have Buckingham Nicks on cd.......
It’s a bootleg
To bad it doesn't come with a booklet about the history of her solo albums.
What a let down.
The small print in the packaging is such a waste. Feels like a slap in the face for CD fans. I've said for a while that the solution to this is to have something in a pocket that unfolds to vinyl size. This way the smaller outer CD size packaging could be used, but the inner sleeve can be large enough like the vinyl. They used to do something like this with CDs in the 80s. Yes, there would be some creases on these, but that seems better than something I can't even read.
Yeah they used to do that a lot back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. But now CDs don’t make them money so they’re cutting corners which is a slap in the face to us collectors.
I am so disappointed in mine. I purchased it as a birthday gift to myself. I'm disappointed by the lack of a booklet. Her Enchanted box set (Which includes nearly all of the 'rarities' songs) included a lovely booklet filled with notes from Stevie, her art, photos, and more personal touches plus a nice printing of all of the song lyrics. I realize I'm retouching on some of your points here, but the lyrics in this set are so shrunken down they're impossible to read. The sound quality of the cds is absolutely horrible, especially on the rarities. They sound tinny, there's a lot of popping. I find this ridiculous as, again, they were included in the Enchanted box set and they sounded so much better. Three of my CDs are also skipping, despite the fact that the CDs themselves seem scratch free and flawless.
You are my win today🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
I overpaid on rhino and still waiting for my set. Wish I would have gotten it from Amazon. I would have it by now and saved money. The album set is where all the quality went. These cds are lacking. I wish I could have afforded the vinyl. No book is a shame!!! But I’m a life long huge Stevie fan so I buy anything released.
That’s my other complaint when ordering direct from an artist’s or record label’s website, it always costs more than if I order it from Amazon. Then it never arrives on or before release day. So you end up paying more and getting it much slower which doesn’t seem fair.
@@BrendonSnyderTrue. I would have gotten it on Amazon myself but when it was announced I thought it was only available through Rhino. But that was the vinyl edition only. Anyway still waiting on mine from Rhino which I pre ordered the day it was announced ugh
@@BrendonSnyderit's usually cheaper ordering anything from Amazon, but that's because Amazon has a shipping advantage over an individual artist's store...the only time I order from an artist's store is their exclusives, bundles & signed items...
The CD packaging is disgraceful. Why make the box so big? They could have increased the size of the CD sleeves so you could read them! This is an easy pass for me.
I can’t understand why the box is bigger than it needs to be especially if there isn’t a book at that size. I tend to think they wanted to make it look like there was more inside the box and worth buying even though it’s just oversized.
@@BrendonSnyder The box and the design is very similar to Rhino's Monkees deluxe edition CD sets.
@@BrendonSnyderagree 💯 percent. It’s purposefully deceptive
Personally, I would’ve expected a better package from rhino records. Seems rather disappointing. As far as reading the print well being legally blind, that’s a challenge for me anyway even using a magnifying glass it still is microscopic.
I think they're big because they look good on a store shelf. They do that for board games too
Disappointed that there is no book and also that you need a magnifying glass to ready the lyrics. I have all her albums and unfortunately this box set offers nothing more than what is already out there. The Deluxe Bella Donna and Wild Heart have 2 and 3 CD's with lots of bonus and live material. The Enchanted box set from years ago also includes lots of rare and live tracks. All the B sides and soundtrack cuts are all on there as well. Think I will pass.
It is ridiculous not to have a booklet with readable lyrics, written history on albums and songs. Then, you have flimsy digipak CDs for the money they want. They cut way too many basic things needed as described above for me to consider purchasing.
Yes, stingy box set for a major artist and price doesn't match up with quality of package.....no booklet!?!? C'mon now! Are the songs in mono? WTF?
Wow those sleeves are awful, so flimsy. They should have done them like Japanese mini LP CD sleeves. (Like all the recent Bowie boxsets) I will be giving this a miss and hopefully we'll get individual releases of the albums post Wild Heart.
Surprisingly disappointing packaging from Rhino, who usually do a stellar job.
Surprised me too
Dang, if I was a fan of hers i wouldn't buy it..
But if you were a fan of hers you might because then you’d feel different. It’s like me that wanted the two bonus discs so I shelled out for it. I didn’t want to but I had to…haha 😂
Hi brendon wont be buying that got them all anyway I don't wish to buy them again 👍
Including all the rarity tracks or just not interested in those?
Just not interested big fan of stevie but not interested looks an awesome set tho 👍
I almost lost $80 buying this boxset. Thanks for the video, hard pass
I’m glad the review helped you make a decision. 👍
Love Stevie ,but I've watched some other unboxing. Thing is so cheaply done. Need to look at how guns and roses do theirs !! Hard pass
You are my win today🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Brendon, the boxset to me is too overpriced due to the fact it has little to no info on it. Heck the Genesis BBC had more info about that. Thank you to them for providing info on that. But I think they should base the price on the info in part. Have someone tell them what they like/don’t like before release. That’s just my 2 cents. 😊🥸😎
