This walkthrough is very well organized and explained. No questions from me just appreciation. I’m getting back into the hobby as a 20 year old, bring back my passion as a kid ! I will be using this process to finish my MPR rocket build

Hey James, Only recently did I learn about using soapy water to attach the stickers that come with models. I half expected you to use that process on the vinals you attached here. I really liked your method of using the tape lines as guides to keep the model symmetric, I will definitely be using that one from now on! You have encouraged me to step up my painting themes! Thanks!

Nice tute. I think elliptical fins would have been more appropriate for a Spit. The angular fins have more of a BF 109 feel for me. Turned out beautiful tho. 👍👍

Elliptical fins are a great idea. Damn, I'll just have to do another one!

I have mixed feelings about finishing my rockets. I expect to lose them or crash them, sometimes. So I often just do the bare minimum, sand the fins a little with no filler, don't fill the spirals, get a coat of paint on the body and a contrast color on the fins and nose cone, and let it go at that. Spending hours priming and sanding and intricately masking just to lose the thing doesn't appeal to me. On the other hand if the finishing step is the most gratifying part of the build, I totally understand that! My one exception is the 1/100 Saturn V. I'm working hard to get that as perfect and beautiful as possible. Likely, I'll build one flyer and one static.

You and I are the only people that use 1500 grit sandpaper on rockets. Thank you for the great presentation.

There are a few of us in the 2000g club.

@@nathancarmon158 Yes, I have used it, but it harder to find. My local hardware store goes up to 1500g.

Beautiful rockets. Do you clear over everything?

Thank you for the kind words! I generally do not apply clear overcoats, although occasionally I will spray a scale model with a satin final finish. That did not happen on this particular project, however.

James, what scale were the graphics you used from Callie on the Der Spitfire build?

The 1/12 scale markings were used for the Spitfire, which were the smallest option offered.
