Do you want to know how to make a perfect fin fillet? Do you even know why you might want to? There is a lot more to know about fin fillets than you care to realize, and this is the most indepth discussion ever made. In fact, it is only part 1. In the video coming on Tuesday, we'll start by reviewing the five variables you have to consider when you make a fillet. Then we'll go into each one deeper by explaining why it is important, and what your options are when you are making your own fin fillets.

To get a perfectly straight line on the fillet edge, I mask the fin and the tube out a few millimeters from the joint. Then when you pull your finger along, the glue winds up in a perfectly straight line on the tube and the fin, no waviness. Remove the tape after the glue dries and if necessary a little sanding to feather it perfectly down to the tube and the fin. Looks sharp!

I built an Estes Mean Machine with RocketPoxy G5000 resin fin fillets. The first launch and the E ejection charge failed. It crashed into the street, and an SUV driving ran it over the long way. The fins were crushed but, the fillets were still attached to the body tube holding the stubs in place. I realized the holding power of RocketPoxy.

Estes Doorknob was super easy to prep ,assemble. Sweet nylon chute included. Papered the fins smooth, but yeah , fillets on wood fins are difficult to get smooth also after using different fine grit sandpapers, without digging into the fins themselves.
    Thanks for the video.

I have to ask you. please make a video explaining why the fins have this or that shape. It is also interesting why combat missiles have fins in the middle of the missile or even at the very nose.

I just bought Fixit for fin fillets. I believe I saw a young girl on your channel using it to brace fins. Do you use the Fixit, 2 part deal?

I think that it is recommended on the Apogee Aspire. I ended up with strong Fixit fillets on my build.

I got excited when you said meat and potatoes. I don't think there is a fillet of potato.
