Yeah the point is to use it WITH ceramic coated paints to help durability of the coating and not adding coating

Scott...the first several times I watched your detail videos, I thought 'when is he going to shut up?;. After watching a ton of other videos by pro detailers then watching a few more of your vids, I realized your intent. You talk your thoughts and methods through each one. You do make good sense of it all...and I do mean ALL products you demo and/or review. There are just a few others, like the AMMO guy, who give it all they got. I have to say, you save me time thinking about a product. I'm just a weekend detail warrior on my new 2018 black Silverado and you've been a tremendous help. Thank you

I've actually had a good experience with the sio2 soaps, particularly carpro hydro2 soap. I will say that I've only used it in a foam cannon, never in a bucket wash. I usually get around 1-2 months of durability

This is a soap that I will probably never buy. Especially since I'm a high schooler at 16 years old detailing cars. I can barely afford Chemical Guys products. For someone young, I am pretty wise with my money. These videos also help with that. Especially the cheaper alternative videos that you do. Those have saved me alot of $$$. Do you think maybe it doesn’t work because it’s not coated? I’m wondering if it’s advertised that way because it actually meant to react with the SiO2 coating on the vehicle. So then if the car isn’t coated, there is no SiO2 to react with, therefore rendering it as useful as a regular car soap. I feel that’s why a lot of these soaps advertise the SiO2

I tested Gyeon Bathe+ (SiO2 shampoo) almost 4 years ago on my house windows. The glass I washed with it is still beading as we speak. Try Gyeon's version of it and I guarantee you'll have a different opinion. The reason I no longer use SiO2 shampoo is because everything the product touches ends up becoming hydrophobic and extremely slippery including tyres and anywhere else the soap runs. SiO2 of course loves to water spot, which means you then get lovely water spotting everywhere even in the crevasses you can't reach. Lovely! Great idea but in reality not the most practical. I'll stick with normal shampoo.

I agree with you, but me as a detailer I need to research a bit more about ceramic coat wash soaps.
I also believe it can be fake too but you need to know that the real si02 wash soap have surfactants and emulsifiers as their main ingredient and that's why they work better in coated vehicles. This test shows that silica soap on uncoated vehicles work as dish soap.

Hello Scott, thanks for the video! I am thinking back and wondering if I have ever heard the claim that SiO2 wash, by itself, leaves behind "protection" on uncoated surfaces (which I believe was the point of the video) and I don't think I have. While, as you said, they are great soaps they are intended as a system. What I know of SiO2 it seems to bond best to itself, which is why the process of applying a coating has one or many types of adhesives in the traveling agent to help it bond. Also, while the soaps are great for coated vehicles they do contain SiO2 and at a minimum you should use gloves while handling it. Your skin is very porous and your body does not need SiO2, in fact, has to work very hard to clear what soaks into you. Anything you can do to minimize exposure is worth it. If it does that to your shoes, imagine what it does to your organs! Please people, use PPE when handling even light caustic chemicals and expect the best results of SiO2 soap with SiO2 coatings. Thanks again, for the video.

You know I got respect for you Scott. I use hydrofoam on stripped surfaces, glass, trim, and paint....100% OF THE TIME is changes the contact angle and beads and sheets water. What I have found to be the case with this soap is the fact it is hyper sensitive to other detergents. I have a bucket, foam.cannon, sprayer, and Mitt just for hydrofoam so I dont cross contaminate. If yourMitt, or bucket wasn't washed properly of all prior detergents, it wont work at all. Also of the panel you stripped still has apc or solvent on it, it wont work. I will strip with hyperwash and an oz of citrus ppwer cleaner plus and rinse it really well. If this was hydrofoam I'm actually shocked. I've never had a failure with it yet. I pay $20 per liter.

Hi Scott, I started to believe what your were showing and telling until I saw the water clearing out on the side you used the silicon soap by the time the video was done. If you look at what they are advertising is exactly for that reason, so maybe you may want to wait and see how fast the water clears and dries out on the siicon used side vs regular soap side before making any inaccurate conclusions. Thanks for the video. Appreciate your efforts to share your experiences.

I bought some SIO2 soap once. i coated my car and wanted to wash it with an SIO2 soap to maybe add a thin layer of protection over the coating after every wash. Maybe to help the coating last a bit longer. Even though i knew it would be a very minute amount of SIO2 added to the surface. I thought, it cant hurt anything. The soap worked great. So i thought ill wash a car with no protection and see how it changes the beading or sheeting. Just like your video shows. Nothing changed at all. I thought hmmmmmm. Needles to say once i used it I didn't buy anymore lol.

Wish you could test Modesta products but they're smart since they don't sell it to the general public. I was asked to wash a friend's car with their products since he was told by his coating installer you need to use their products only or the coating will lose it's gloss. Used the special soap and boy was it not slick nor foamy vs Meg's hyper wash. Only positive side was it smelled amazing! So much gimmick being sold on the coating market these days on that you have to wash your car a specific way to maintain the coating that is supposedly strong enough to resist scratches. Makes no sense.

I tried HydroSilex Silica Soap today, they say 1oz in a bucket wash. I started with 2oz in 3 gallons of water, no beading or sheeting, bumped it up to 4oz and still nothing. Then 8oz, nothing. Then 15oz of silica soap in 3 gallons of water and still absolutely nothing. Finally I dumped 1oz of silica soap on the hood and washed with my mitt, and guess what no beading or sheeting. All of this was done after I did my pre wash with Carpro Muti X, let it sit for 3 minutes then rinsed with pressure washer. Then foamed with 1oz Carpro Reset and 2oz bug remover in the IK Foam Pro 12, let sit for 3 minutes then did a 2 bucket wash and rinsed with pressure washer. Then did the Hydro Sikex Silica soap test, all of this was done with DI water. A rep from Hydro Sikex told me that this is normal and that it takes several washes to get any results. I washed the truck 4 times with 15oz of soap in 3 gallons of water with no results, highly disappointed.

The Si02 soap (Americana) that I use does not sheet the water off the hood however when it rains it still prevents water spotting and does offer some beading. I will have the hood coated soon but overall I think Si02 is worth the price
