French onion soup is good made with white onions, yellow onions, and leeks. You can use yellow onions and the white part of green onions and leaks, you and I agree French onion soup is delicious. And there is so many things that you can add it to, Home made soup casseroles different things that use onion and you can add that French onion soup to it and it just makes it taste so much better you use an Insta pot everyone I’ve ever tried would burn something. I don’t know if there was something wrong with the pot or what But I prefer to use my cast iron ceramic Dutch oven. You can slow cook anything to perfection, but to each his own

I made French Onion Soup for the first time when the Food Bank I volunteer at had a glut of onions. Though I'm a volunteer not a client I went home with a bag of onions. The recipe I used was pretty peppery so I'm going to give your recipe a try and if it suits my taste buds a little better. BTW I've never tried anything but Swiss Cheese.
Ben following Heather’s recipe, I have found my homemade onion broth to be extremely bland. I have to add bouillon and onion powder. I like Muenster cheese on mine.
I love French onion soup. My problem is, every time I have ever attempted to make soup from scratch it comes out horrible. Makes hospital food taste gourmet! LOL Now that is bad!!!!
I too am a great lover of French Onion Soup. I was wondering why you do not caramelize your onions? I know it’s a greater time investment but you can’t beat the flavor.

A roaster pan is a great idea to cook all those onions! I had a bunch of onions that I grew this year and I may just have to try canning some french onion soup!
I finally made this last night and I’m not sure if I did it all correctly. I mean it looks amazing but I don’t know if it’s as flavorful as it should be. Maybe a dash more salt or a different cheese? What’s your favorite cheese to top it with?
Sharp cheddar cheese is what I use. Salt would make all the difference in the world. I made it this past week again. Also I have found using chicken stock makes taste even better.
