I hate how companies cannot EVER act grown up in a situation like this and act like jealous kids. The statement from ID Software comes across like some kid explaining to their parents how they did nothing wrong, and it was in fact ALL the other peoples fault while pretending to be %100 innocent. I find that behavior insulting and makes me feel like the company thinks it can manipulate me easily

This is simply corporate gaslighting. It happens when you have psychotic managers combined with lawyers and it happens all the time.
They know they are wrong so they will use any weasel words, any slight the other party has done to blow it way out of proportion and use lies and slander to make it go their way, simply because they know that in order to "rectify" it you have to sue them and that is a huge barrier on cost and time.
I've dealt with a very similar situation and it's just simply horrible.

But as I already realized that, it's just a confirmation. Anyway Doom was an awesome soundtrack with a video game as a bonus. And ultimately I don't need the video game, I'm not into goodies, so....

    Remember this as well:
"Reddit Moderator: I reached out to one of the r/DOOM moderators. We made contact and arranged a call via Discord.
The moderator introduced himself and spoke about his love for the DOOM franchise and its fanbase. Along with the r/DOOM subreddit, he told me he also moderated the official DOOM Discord server.
I told him how Marty’s Reddit post had affected me deeply, both professionally and personally. It was a source of ongoing stress and harm, and I asked if he’d consider removing it.
Much to my relief, he instantly took it down.
But within 12 hours, the post was reinstated. The moderator blocked me on Discord and didn’t reply to my emails.
A few days later, Marty’s lawyers contacted me and said removing the Reddit post had greatly offended him. He was furious and made it clear in the strongest terms that an amicable resolution would be impossible."

We as customers have a vote too. The most important vote. Unless Bethesda can prove their side of the story or chooses to do the right thing, we can choose not to buy Starfield, the next Doom, their umpteenth Skyrim re-release etc. Otherwise we have also let them off the hook for failing to hold Marty (and themselves) accountable.

-Mike decides to air out his business with Mick (even though very little of Mike's story made sense and was NOT part of the industry standard)
-Then Mick, after two years, decides to give a thorough and detailed account of the events (Mind you, against his best interest since this would affect his reputation as an independent contractor) with evidence, screenshots, and metadata that proves his point...

Suuuuure, because Marty's statement wasn't FAR more "unjust" and filled with one-sided distortions that was BLATANLY intended to *ruin* Mick's reputation (Which has been SPOTLESS up until this point). Only with ZERO evidence to back it up and coming across as petty and vindictive. Where as Mick's response, comes across as nothing more than trying to protect his professional reputation. And of course Bethesda stands by their subsidiary company rather than a contract worker. Having your back (even when you're in the wrong) is what parent companies do, because they have more invested in them. Mick being ruined doesn't damage them! Marty being ruined does!
Plus at no point do they even TRY to say Mick is lying about anything. Just that he's picking and choosing what he is presenting (meaning everything in his statement IS true). Which is just how presenting a defence is done. People would loose interest if he presented too much info. And why are they presenting the harassment of Marty and Chad as if Mick incited it? Mick straight up said not to harass or attack anyone. But we all know the internet is FULL of crazy people who just want to stir the pot. So why is it only a problem now that its happening to them? They were quite content to let Marty's statement incite the harassment Mick was getting, but he had to endure that alone, with no massive company to protect him. Marty is also the one who took this to reddit and the court of public opinion to begin with. So that alone says how unprofessional he is.
Simple fact is, Bethesda is KNOWN for litigation, if Bethesda *actually* thought they were in the right, they wouldn't have made a transparent corporate PR statement to placate people and save face that ultimately says nothing, they'd have stayed quiet and started the legal process, as they have done MANY times before. But this statement is an empty defence that screams that they KNOW they have *nothing!*

Seriously. "A one-sided and unjust account of an irreparable professional relationship" - like that doesn't describe the 2020 Reddit post? And what principle could possibly be applied to justify that that wouldn't also justify Mick's Medium post defending himself?
Throw in the weak language (Not even claiming that Mick is lying, just presenting "incomplete facts"), the attempt to hide behind the team (his post makes very clear his only beef is with Marty), and the not actually saying they're going to do anything (for a company as well known for zealous litigation as Zenimax...) it seems clear they've got nothing.

Mick has documentation that verifies a fair amount of his statements.
He didn't just make a random post, he showed decent evidence for much of what he was alleging.
Bethesda offers nothing to discredit any of it, and is just attempting damage control.
They have a vested interest, and likely fiduciary obligation, to protect ID and their brand and investment. They are also not going to admit liability for anything for obvious reasons.
Basically, there is little reason to trust Bethesda on this matter at all. They have every reason to lie and likely couldn't admit to any of it even if they wanted to.
Even if Mick's account is skewed in his favor, he has the documentation to largely support his claims to enough degree that it's hard to discount his side of things.
There's enough there that even if he isn't "telling the whole story", it's pretty clear he was the wronged party and that internal management issues at ID were the problem.
There's no way for Bethesda to spin their way out of this. They are responsible for ID, and the only actual evidence we've seen shows that ID messed this up, not Mick Gordon.
Gordon easily has enough documentation for a solid court case, but I completely get why if he doesn't want to pursue it, it's time consuming, expensive, and I completely understand why it might not be worth it to him if his open letter is enough to restore his reputation so he can get back to making music.
The general vibe I've gotten is that there's a good chance it was.

I really don't get why Marty seemed so vengeful and petty when it comes to Mick Gordon. It doesn't make sense, this vendetta seems to be mostly personal in nature. His livestreams show him as a nice guy, which weirds me out, it's hard to keep a facade on a livestream and it's hard to see the Marty on stream as the Marty Mick had to work with. With the amount of receipts Mick presented, it's obvious that Id had big problems with this guy. Ultimately, we need more information, either information on Id, because their statement was a nothing burger, or information on Mick. Maybe we could get some words from the other people that worked with Mick Gordon after Doom Eternal. This is definitely not a situation like the Bayonetta 3 voice actor debacle.

Whether or not Mick's account and evidence should be taken at face value, iD is still to blame for the OST. When you take the barest of agreed upon fact in this story, you know that Marty promised the OST with the preorder at E3 2019, waited until January 2020 to negotiate a contract and the tracks that sucked were from Chad Mossholder, lead audio designer at iD. These issues were all done by iD at Marty's direction. iD should have done the responsible thing of apologizing to customers and fixing the OST. Instead, Marty gave nothing but excuses and tried to use Mick as a scapegoat. Even if Mick shares blame in this, which evidence to date show little in the way of that being so, it is still iD who delivered the shoddy product. Marty and iD deserves the customer dissatisfaction aimed at them.

id's response was flat-out aggressive and mocking. Claiming all of his statements to be lies and distortions of truth, saying there are two sides to the story... and then refusing to share their side of the story outside of court? That's fishy as fuck. This music deserves to be on a franchise that allocates time and care for its creators and products, not just speeding everything off the factory line as quick as possible because the suits set unrealistic deadlines to try to appease to a fanbase with the attention span of a hummingbird. id chose this business model, they chose to sell out, they chose to go corporate, they set their OWN deadlines, I don't want to hear excuses on the pressures of getting a game out "in time", they set the damn time! They hand-picked Mick for this project, then threw out half his shit and made him redo it, then mastered stuff without his input and it has HIS name on it! They claimed they had "no problems" with his creative vision (only... they did...), they ONLY had an issue with the fact that he wasn't RUSHING the music, which is his creative *process* - literally the bulk of his job. Which is what they were PAYING him for. They act like they're taking care of their own, but he was a contracted employee too, and they're simply playing favorites with their salary workers. And I'm just going to say this one fucking time. I don't give a shit if you don't like the songs he made. You PAY HIM for his WORK. Buyers remorse sucks for everyone, he doesn't want to throw away a song that he put his heart into either, let alone 9 of them, but you do NOT just... NOT pay someone for weeks/months of work just because you don't like the final product. Especially if you're a multi-million dollar company, there's just no excuse. I don't care if he was annoying, I don't care if he was rude, I don't care if he "didn't work fast enough", I don't care if he didn't make "what you expected". You do not just NOT pay someone when they did work for you, that's not okay. Fuck id.
