"Its like sculpting, a block a marble you have to chisel down" - Really resonated with that line. Green Arrow is a supreme choice. And great tip about fat and muscle deposits. You have lots of precision with your pencil strokes, I think we all benefit from seeing freehand exercise. Tons of awesome takes throughout.
Its kind of amusing that while you were drawing his bow, your 'bow' broke.
    Great video

Great tutorials. Your punch tutorial reminded me of a similar David Finch video. It's lame, but practice is how you get anywhere. Also, form is more important than detail - your Green Arrow looks near finished because the form is believable. You can feel weight and energy in him without the muscle detail or perfect anatomy. Thinking of your own body is great advice, and can really be more helpful than a photo reference in so many ways. You mentioned lifting - for myself yoga was what made me start thinking of different muscle engagement, and how i can incorporate that in artwork.

    Sorry for any mistakes.
Thank you for sharing this video I am an aspiring artists and I been drawing for like 9 months and I still got a lot of struggle and still learning perspective and stuff like that but I'm also trying to get into figures because I want to do comics and character design.
I seen a lot of UA-camrs some of them have decent advice for beginner artists in general or just beginner artist trying to get into like figures or something but usually most of the videos are fast. speed them up type of videos and I like videos that actually don't care about how long the video needs to be in order to teach and you're one of the few that have done that and so thank you for sharing that.
But one of the things I've been trying to do is just get the figure down right now I'm kind of doing like a stick figure and I'm trying to find a way to build upon that.
I'm still doing my fundamental practice on days as well but I really want to get the figure down so I can have that and be able to do a little bit of practice with that.as well so any advice that you can give for someone? also just the beginner in general? and where to start?
Also thank you for mentioning that female characters have different body types and sizes as a black woman who loves comics only one size of women and they're are very sexualized. So thank you for just briefly mentioning that women come in different sizes and as an artist who's learning the figure and wants to make character design you must understand that so thank you for mentioning that.
But you're right comic books do not show or even mangas for that matter don't show different women in different sizes they usually have the same size breasts which is overly large and hips and thighs and butts are usually big and exposed so yeah that was just nice to hear someone say that on UA-cam.
Also because I'm still trying to figure out my sketch part I like the way you're very loose with your sketching lines any tips and how to get that going for someone that wants to learn that method.

thanks for the kind words! i'll try to reply to questions in order, first improving figures: draw a bunch of poses everyday, search up references and draw them in 1-2 minutes just to get the feel, then after filling up a few pages you should see a difference in your understanding of the human figure and balance, i would not recommend planning it in stick figure lines, and try hard to think of the 3d shapes, you can use lines to help you imagine the force and weight, but i wouldn't recommend it for limbs and body parts, the human figure requires a lot of memorization but it's not like studying for a test, it's more like absorbing the visual references over time, so don't get discouraged if it's a slow process, even professional artists have trouble with it when drawing from imagination. i think i should do a video on this, i think it will be really helpful.
sketching loosely: i think i did a video on this, in case i didn't, i recommend holding the pencil further away from the point cuz it gives more leverage for drawing big curved lines and it stops you from pressing down on the tip, you can get good shapes and lines if you hold the pencil in different ways and change the grip, you can notice i kinda do that in the video a few times when switching from detailing to broader shapes.
      hope this reply helps :D
...i should also make videos on these topics

@@HA-Draws thank you for your feedback I really appreciate it.
And just another video idea for you as well I'm still struggling with this but I'm a lot better than a beginner.
Making a beginner video on how to achieve to the point where you can make characters and get into comics or whatever the case may be where to start and what they should be practicing in order to achieve that like when I first got into drawing I was told to do a lot of circles and lines and in 3D shapes which is important and I use that as my warm-ups.sadly it took me a lot of videos to get to that point so it's just something. I thought I'll point out to you because I love the fact that you don't speed up your videos show what they should be practicing what they should be looking at and even perspective at some point need to be talked about cuz I'm still struggling with that as well so just something I thought I'll bring up.
I think your channel is really cool and I think the fact is that you take your time out to make these long videos it will help a beginner who's looking into trying to get from point A to point B
