👉🏾Watch Next: 5 Anatomy Tips I Wish I Knew Earlier ua-cam.com/video/R2GXkeps1D4/v-deo.html
recently I started drawing the torso first instead of the head and I could immediately see the improvement, I always had a problem with proportions so their heads looked way too big compared to the rest of the body
I’ll have to try that. Yeah often times I start with the head, sketch the rest of the body, then have to resize the head bc it’s too big/small
@@knowjack404 I have also found that it helps my poses feel less stiff, when I start with the torso I already have a pose in mind and I just need to make the head follow the motion while when I start with the head I usually don't know how to follow up
Drawing the torso is so incredibly hard for me but atleast I can draw from under the shoulders now…
I mean there are things to help you with that most people start with the head and put everything based on the head
I think it's a general knowledge due to fact this was the first thing my sis taught me but
if your head is 2 cm go 2 cm lower and that is the lower part of the waist 2cm lower belly button 2cm lower the place 2 legs connect 2 cm lower end of the knee 2 cm lower wrist 1 cm lower en of the foot
İt's like that it kinda makes things easier to put the person in the weird perspectives and it makes it a lot easier to draw an irl model you can use your pen to get the measure of the head these proportions have changes with the that person's height the proportions I gave is avarage person's height (165~180 ish)

Best intro ever. Admitting ur fault is the first step to success
This is one of the best anatomy videos I've seen so far here on UA-cam. Keep up the good work : )
Thank you! 😊
I started learning to draw about 2 months ago and since then I have been looking on the internet for someone to learn from and you turn out to be the most inspiring person
The algorithm dropped me in here randomly after watching one the other art UA-camrs I follow and I am glad it did. You have great style and explain things well. Looking forward to more of your content. Keep up the good work.
Lol same
the way your voice sounds so good to listen to while listening is making me focus and not feel like im missing a lot of what to learn 😭im subscribing!!
Man you’re chill as hell, literally just found your channel and already found your tips very useful
I can’t wait to see your channel grow! I love your art style 🖤
Happy to find you! Great teaching and telling. And your voice is so calming and nice! Keep the videos coming, I promise to practice!
love it thank you! The information was presented well and I’ll be coming back for more tutorials!
by far the best help ive gotten from a video ever, thank you.
I really like your diversity in body types and shapes. makes your figures look distinct and unique
All your videos are SO GOOD!! Never thought about starting with the torso first, that makes so much sense! Thanks for sharing such great tips these last 3 videos 😊
Aww thank you for watching! Hope to see you again! 🙂
really digging the channel, chill vibes and good advice!
This is actually so helpful. I struggle with anatomy a lot and this made so much sense thank u :)
Love your content so many helpful things thanks so much!! ❤
Keep up the great work for your first few videos, the quality is emaqulate and you have a solid point in all your videos, Congates🎉👏🏾
when i first started seriously drawing, i used to be extremely rigid in how i drew my anatomy and would often make rules for myself on how to draw specific body parts, such as torsos or arms. like, what, four years later, i'm mostly out of that mindset and i've been seeing massive improvement of my art, and i recommend younger/less experienced artists do the same :)
these videos are great, btw! im looking forward to the next one :D
Your videos are really high quality, I can see your channel hitting 100k subs in under 2 months, if you keep this up man.
Amazing channel. Keep up the good work
These videos are so well made
Fantastic work! 3 videos in such a short amount of time and all with fantastic quality! Please don't burn yourself out. I would definitely love to see more and see where your channel goes!
Hey charlie, just stumbled upon your channel and wanted to let you know I like what you’re doing here and please continue doing it
Drawing basic anatomy is such a fundamental and exciting skill in art! It's amazing how understanding the human form can really bring drawings to life. It opens up so many possibilities for creating dynamic and realistic characters. Whether it's for comics, animation, or fine art, mastering anatomy is definitely a game-changer. Keep up the great work in exploring and learning this skill! 🌟🎨
Yessir you going up🔥🔥 keep doing this.. real helpful
For drawing feet you can continue using triangular shapes like you already displayed. It's the same idea with hands. It's all in the shapes. As well as repetition. But you are clearly on the right track so my advice may or may not be helpful?? idk lol! But you got this! 💪Gestures helped me so much in my own drawings too. They truly are a game changer.
So glad i found this channel before he totally blows up. Your style and tips are amazing man! PLEASE! Keep making these lol
please keep making videos! this is super helpful
Thanks for your videos, Charlie! I love them! 😁
BRO! While starting to learn anatomy...That men have boxes women have skirts tip has helped out tremendously. So Thank You!
Super helpful video, Your voice is so calming!
I pulled up my videos and drawing from life, I'll return to those childhood doodles when I can feed them the skills to truly put a smile on my face and share it with people like me
Man this is just a great ass video. I say that as I've come to the conclusion recently of shapes really truly are everything and seeing that point being so stressed and applied puts that more in perspective for me
I've never thought about drawing the torso first, will def be trying that one! I hope it gets rid of the problem where I always make the head too big
Thank you. This helped.
Been struggling a lot with gesture drawing; I watched other artists doing it, and noticed some doing torsos first. So I gave it a try.. doing torso and legs first was a huge help for me. I used to start with the head, and that always left me on the wrong footing, so to speak.
Your demonstration of art is very impressive. I just subscribed to your channel.❤
Your channel deserves more views, love your calm and informative content
I just recently discovered your channel and you talk exactly about what I am struggling with. I was, still kinda am insecure about what I simple shapes I should use for things like torsos, or just figures in general.
Yknow, seeking reference on social media is difficult bc everyone takes a different approach, for example someone's choice of basic shapes always confuses me; "Should I use this or that?"
Then comes applying anatomy to gesture drawings and applying anatomy on a figure built with basic shapes and alllll of that. You're going into this so well please keep it up man. My sub is yours
great video your explanation is easy understand.
Ngl when I was a kid and tried to draw anatomy I always thought that using reference photos was cheating 🤦♀️💀 And once I heard from another artist that its not cheating and its a way to learn anatomy I fr was like: 👁👄👁 ... w h a t- 💀💀😢 So from the age of like 8 to 15-16 I can't remember exactly, I thought reference photos were cheating 💀💀💀 Like- R.I.P 😭😭
That was really helpful.
Just found your channel and I'm loving it. Keep it coming! Please!
same 💯
hella underrated, nice video 👌
I just came across your new Channel here. Nicely done! Your drawings are amazing. I’ve been in the Animation Industry for 39 years. I always spend my down times going back to basics. The basics are the best foundation to keep moving forward. All the best!
Wow, thank you!!
This is really helpinh
I too am a very lazy artist. Great video, looking forward to more! And I always start with the head and draw tiny legs (and will now try starting with the torso)
Drawing torsos first
For shoes I usually start with drawing the sole of the shoe first, Idk if that will help you but that torso tip definitely helped me!
Gesture drawing, as important as it is, is THE most difficult thing for me (I hyper fixate and miss the point of the exercise, also have a death grip on my pen). I can see how it can train your eye to catch the important shapes and to learn to improvise, which is both difficult and helpful. 😅Good tips, and your studies look really good. I have subscribbled.
Same, I face the same problem. I hyper fixate on stuff and have issues blocking body parts into simple shapes
I still struggle to not just try to copy what I see onto paper, which always comes out wonky, but the figure drawing class I took a few years ago really helped with gesture drawing. After a while it can even be fun to just do that.
On point!! Learning to observe through shapes can help with drawing everything!! Also not related, but your voice sounds really nice!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!
Awww thank you! You are too kind! 🙂
I enjoy your videos. They are well executed, thoughtful and informative. Your content is highly relevant and helpful. You also have a great voice for narration. Excellent all around.
You are too kind. Thank you my friend!! 😀
My pleasure. I look forward to viewing more of your content. It’s been very helpful. All the best!
good stuff. 2D and 3D shapes are what it's all about. People are just organic shapes put together in perspective and proportion!
Could you do a video on back and leg anatomy? Perhaps maybe a video that shows how to draw the body from different angles/perspectives using simple shapes?
Hahahah literally my next video! Hopefully done by this week! 😉
Wow!!!! Thank you! So excited!
Hands!! I hear ya. I struggle with 'em... often leaving them til last because every time I draw a hand I "quit" art, for like, a couple hours.
Great vid! I like your style.
I often start with the body first then the head, legs, and arms then I improve the drawing
Wish there were more tutorials focusing on limbs, especially legs - they are complicated and nobody really goes into a nice formula on how to draw them. Nice video.
Damn those figure drawings look really solid
No fricking way you been posting for only 5 days! You will skyrocket soon
Hahaha I have an interesting story about that. lol. I'll definitely share it at some point. 😀
@@AnimeCharlie you must have tried other times didn't you?
@@Karma222z ohh yeah! I've started and stopped quite a few times lol. This channel I had a plan, but even still I wasn't expecting this!! 🤔
I cant wait for Procreate dreams! Just a few days away 🎉
About drawing shoes:
In Pikat's: video "How to UPGRADE your character designs" minute 11:09 she goes into sketchfab and rotates some 3D Nike shoes until they are in they are in the perspective she needed them she took a screenshot and used it as reference. I think that's a great idea and can probably be extrapolated to other intricate props or items.
Awesome video by the way.
I totally saw that! I thought it was genius!!
Do you have any advice/videos to watch to start practicing gesture drawing? Great video by the way, this helped a lot!
i like how you added hipdips
Never even considered doing torsos before heads... that's very interesting.
Love this vid! *subscribes* What brush are you using?
I’ve only subscribed to a 4-5 different art channels over the last decade and all of them have gone from less than 10k to at least 500k subs. This is one of those channels I’m sure.
Keep up the good work brother.
Thank you brother! Truly appreciate it! I do hope so.
Your drawings look beautiful! What brush are you normally using in procreate?
thanks u just stopped me from having a mental breakdown
Your vids are great: ) Would love to see you do one on clothing folds!
Coming soon!
Ayoo, I got pretty excited to animate to because of the upcoming release on procreate dreams as well. So I’ve been pushing myself to my limits to try and get anatomy nailed down.
This comment!
Once I heard about the release it was GAME Time!! Hahah I'm so pumped
@@AnimeCharlie exactly. Also if you want a good course my suggestion would be Coloso. They have great anime animation courses and overall drawing courses.
Very helpful, thank you so much
as a lazy artist...
i take this video as a win for sure.
OMG just tried starting with the torso and wtf, how didn’t I hear this before? Huge impact and makes things so much easier!! This changes EVERYTHING for me.
Tho would love some advice for “indicators” of how to “see” the box for the torso in perspective. Struggling a lot - using the collar bone is easy in some. But some poses aren’t ideal for that. What’s your “orientation”?
Your voice is really satisfying
a method that they taught me at fashion school is to make the head and then repeat it 7/8 or even 9 times so if your head is 3 centimeters long make 3 centimeters 9 times and divide everything into sectors and then in the first sector there will be the shoulders and then in the third there will be the hips and then in the middle of the remaining sectors there will be the knees then in the last sector the feet.
this is a method that the ancient Greeks also used to proportion their bodies
I'm your fan now
Hahahah! Thank you my friend!
Bros voice tingles mah ears
Im gonna go into highschool next school year and im gonna take a drawing class and a mindful art class so i was hoping to get my drawing and painting skills better for the classes bc i dont wanna be like the only one there that sucks at drawing and painting
for shoes i try to get an idea of how the feet will be shaped. then i usually figure the shape of the sole and then i draw the shoe and how it would fit onto the foot
Hello, I’m also a Charles/ Charlie. I’ll be following you from know on. Just wanted to say HEY.
Hello Brother! I Don't get to meet too many of Charles/Charlie's around. I'm glad to have you! It's good to know there are some Charlie's still in the world!
My anatomy i've been practicing for a year and im very happy with my results sadly i'm having trouble with shoulders for some reason it's like I forgot how to draw them, I use to draw a basic circle but it's not working anymore 😭
I'm sure everyone can agree that anatomy is hard to do
thanks for the help
can you explain about head drawing ?
How many hours a day do you practice and how long did it take for you to get this good?
What pens/brushes do you use for sketching?
But what if you’re trying to draw a robot?
If you draw the torso first how do you know where you place your head?
The moment I heard: "I am a very lazy artis" I liked right away cause yes, me too
Gesture drawing is so hard for me!!!! It’s extremely frustrating. Especially when I’m just staring as an artist. I know it’s the most basic thing to learn how to draw but it seems like I can’t even do that which is very discouraging
Ha I remember people using these types of methods. Have you guys ever started with the eyes and build from that?
I am a very lazy Artist...... I felt that.
just a question should i study the basic shapes fundementals first before doing gesture drawing?
Hahaha literally the next video I'm working on now.
But to give you the sneak peak. My opinion is...
Either is great to start with. My preference is gesture BUT..... Understanding how to use simple shapes will improve your gesture. And understanding how to use gesture will improve how to position those shapes. So to make a long answer even longer!! Hahah
It depends on what you struggle with...
Shapes will help with proportions and understanding how the human body should look. While gesture will make your drawings feel/look less stiff. So if your drawings are stiff focus on gesture. If your proportions are off focus on structure. Hope that helps, but look out for the next video (hopefully on Sunday).🙂
Please this isnt the point but… THAT VOICE??!! 🔥
Tell me please. What application do you use to find references?
What kind of app is you are use to draw
Do you have any social media where you are posting your works?
😊No not yet! Planning on putting up an instagram in the next few days to store all of my artwork. So definitely be on the look out.
The only problem i have was ratio, any tips?
Which digital pen do you recommend for a beginner?
I use both a Wacom cintiq + iPad. Honestly I think the iPad is absolutely better for a beginner. It was what I first got after my Wacom pen tablet.
