My father was born in Egypt as a Jew. The main think we keep remembering Egypt is for the Melochia dish. My husband is European and he loves this dish. My sons and grandsons love it as well. From this vidio, I understand that we can make tomato to it. I'm going to try. Thanks
My grandpa planted this Egyptian Spinach in our backyard, and always telling us that this super food is a secret of long life, I do believe him because many old folks in our country reach their age close to a 100 years old. They called it "Saluyot" in our country Philippines. Because I saw your video and make some research about this plant , now I realized they just called it in different name. I like your recipe and I will surely do this as part of our menu because my Mom love eating this vegetables. I will also order seeds to plant this spring time. Thank you, I hope you will share us more of your delicious and healthy recipes.
your video is so helpful! i am married to an egyptian and having a struggle to cook egyptian food and with this video makes my life sooooo easy. thank u!
Asalamalikum Mad'am shkron for showing your version of this delicious food. My children are Egyptian American and sometimes my middle son loves to eat this. I made this 3 times and it came out like glue however I practice making for a year now but always looking for different techniques and style. God bless you I look forward to seeing more of your videos of your delicious Egyptian cuisine Inshallah. 😊
Thank you Miss Fatma! I grew up with a family of Jordanians and my mom picked up the mulukhia recipe. I went to visit her a few days ago and as a special treat, had asked her to make it. I got there a bit late and the food was already made. I had really wanted to learn how to make it. And now, with the help of your video, this will be a recipe I incorporate into my home too. I'm certain your food is delicious and you are a very charismatic woman. I'm a new fan!!! :) Keep making videos!
Our family had this on Ephiphany. I remember my mom boiling the spinach-like leaves in a stock pot full of garlic gloves and allspice. We ate is served with the boiled chicken and rice, we topped it with white vinegar and onions. Every year, this was a big deal on January 6th. It was a great family time, no matter what we were doing, everyone met at my mom's and enjoyed each other, the food, the high religious day. This is so interesting to see it prepared this way. Well done video.
molokhia is the best my family comes from egypt but now we live in israel but still my mother is doing molokhia egeyptian food is the best thanks for the video and hello from israel
28 years ago.when i was in Egypt, I loved the mulukhia that the cook made.I made it time by time, as i remember (i add tomato to the mulukhia) yours must be the right one.thank you so much, I miss my Heba thella.
I'm growing some Egyptian spinach on my aeroponic tower garden. I've been eating it raw- it's delicious - and want to try the soup. Thanks for the recipe!
Shukran Shukran Shukran!! i just recently got married to an Egyptian and i badly need help on cooking Egyptian foods as we are both in Bahrain...lucky me i found ur channel :)
I had that dish when i lived in UAE for 10 years, mostly Egyptian restaurant serve them. with lamb kebab . that is "saluyot" in the philippines and we also get them fresh. we cooked it with other vegetables to make as vegetable stew/soup called "dinengdeng" or "laswa" (different versions from diff regions) . we toss in some fried fish , shrimp or fried pork belly for protein and extra texture. ..
Love your video and your explanations...very clear. Unfortunately I can only get the dried molokhia. But I remember the fresh molokhia soup with rabbit when I was in Egypt...but most times when I was there, it was with chicken. Love this soup!
Thank you for sharing this recipe, I lived in Egypt for 3 years and my bestfriends mom always used to make this for me and I really miss it. Good memories and if I find the molokhiya here in Holland I will surely make it. Thanks again.

This is awesome. My family is American, originally from Alexandria, Egypt. My grandmother made molokhiya quite often. I am trying to put together a cook book of recipes of my grandmother and could not find a recipe for molkhiya. Thank you Fatma! Anyone have the recipe for jellied watermelon rinds?
Omg she’s so cute and I love her humor. Hmm interesting with the red sauce. My friend just made this for me today, it’s supposed to be v healthy but taste might not appeal to everyone. I’d definitely serve with hot bread and something spicy
You can find it in middle eastern stores in the USA, sometimes even in the Indian stores, it comes frozen, just cook it like made here, or your mom's or tata's recipe, We used to grow it in our garden at our home in New Jersey, and I still have my moms' "mahgraffa" in my kitchen. I am going to make some now.
Dear Fatma: I ve found your recip very useful, but I am in Spain and here is not frozen moulujeya or fresh. My son brought me from Cairo dry one and i d like to know the way to cook it. Sucran!!
Interesting version but the sound quality is very bad. We usually have the whole leaf mloukhiyah with chicken which is wonderful. Ms Fatma looks like a very good cook.
