My Dad taught me to never let the tank get below half full, that way, you can always get back to your last stopping point instead of being stranded in the middle of nowhere. Also when travelling, remember the acronym P.O.W.E.R. = Petrol, Oil, Water, Electrics, Rubber. Look after these things and you’ll have a safe trip.
Thank goodness for a helping hand👍👏🏻🤙 Should it happen again, try placing the floor mats under your drive wheels to get a little traction. Safe travels🙏🤞🚘✌️
Fun Fact: The pretty coffee cups were designed by a fantastic Indigenous artist, Helen Ansell, who lives in a country town about 6 hours north of Perth. In the early Spring the area comes alive with masses of wildflowers. If you ever decide to do a north of Perth road trip, def look at the wildflowers of the mid-west region (especially Coalseam Conservation Park) in mid-late August! So many road trip sights in that whole area extending from Perth to Broome! Also, when/if you're going through Adelaide, be sure to stop in at Hahndorf, a German town in the Adelaide hills!
The simple joy and curiosity with which you both embrace life is infectious. You are showing me parts of my own country I've never seen. I was so glad to see this instalment pop up in my feed as I've been wondering how you guys were faring (fared). My heart was in my throat when you got bogged in the middle of nowhere, and I have to keep telling myself if I am watching it, I can assume you made it. Congratulations on 7 years so far! Oh, and your Aussie accent is awesome, Chevvo!
They're making me feel guilty. Funny how you never have the desire to travel around your own country. Mind you with Emperor McGowan"s edict to inspect every vehicle arriving and leaving the state of WA, thus treating everyone as a common criminal, I wouldn't visit WA if my life depended on it after that announcement last week.
Just about any Australian burger from a corner store or similar outlet will have what we call “beetroot” (USA = canned pickled sliced beets) included with the salad on the burger. It’s uncommon not to have it unless you’re eating at Maccas (McDonalds) or something. The landing strips on the side of the roads out there are for the Royal Flying Doctor Service which provides emergency medical services by plane to remote communities.
yes, the flying doctors are absolute legends. They have saved the lives of two of my friends from major trauma whist i was living rural and one of the main reasons i decided to change career and become a nurse. please give to the RFDS if you can
This is the first travel couple I've continued to watch, being from Perth it's great to see an outside perspective and view on our state. I would love to do this with my fiancee in the next few years. Great job with exploring our country the way we all should. Safe travels!
The way you guys authentically charge through life together as nothing more than yourselves in this crazy world we live in and show the beauty and give so much hope and deliver it in such an artistic and organized yet chaotic way that is just the way we all are reflected in every scene like a movie that we are all in together of life and the persuit to see all that we can see before we leave this rock in the middle of space and time.
Stumbled across your Adelaide post today (my home town) and have spent a couple of hours watching your vids this Good Friday. Love your stuff because it is genuine and informative and also you are showing us the great part of being a young couple sharing each other's company as your tour the world. Reminds my wife and my first overseas trip as a couple to the UK and US when we were in our 20s and before we settled down to have a family - although nowhere near as adventurous as what you are doing. FWIW my last o/s trip (before covid) included a 2 week self drive tour from California to cities/states in the S/W of the US including Tucson and Phoenix in Arizona in Feb/March. I loved that part of the world and you are dead right - it is reminiscent of much of Western Australia and South Australia in terms of the 'look and feel' of the climate (although we don't get much snow here). Anyway, stay safe and keep loving life!
The old jetty you showed was built to service a telegraph station that was build in the late 19th century and operated into the early 20th century. the old telegraph station is still near the jetty, but it is often covered by sand. Supplies and crew changes could only be made by sea. Photographs show the workers at the telegraph station working wearing ties.
I just discovered your videos. You are such positive people and even your catastrophes (getting bogged) are met with laughs. and I love how you notice the trees, insects, flowers etc. that are so unique to Australia.
Just make sure you guys don't get bogged around an area by the name of Wolf Creek.😮😅 A handy hint. Carry a 12volt air compressor, that way if you ever get bogged in sand again, and you 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 get rescued, drop your tyre(yes, that's how we spell it) pressures down to maybe 15psi, 10 if you're in deeper, and that hopefully will get you out, then use the air compressor hooked up to your cars 12v port, and away you go!😊
I'm in Melbourne and have seen a bit of this country and had hopes of seeing more..So I am thankful to follow your journey to see more of this beautiful country.Hope you enjoyed your trip..🇦🇺❤
Congratulations on your anniversary! Really enjoying your Nullarbor trip. Born and bred in Western Australia 54 years and never experienced driving across. Stay safe !
In 2009 we travelled extensively through WA from NSW. On our way back from Norseman my GPS said "in 1200km turn left". I took several days to make that left hand turn.
Hey! I own a Mazda just like that one! it’s a 2006, SP23 that has 360,000kms on the clock and still runs perfectly. Best car I’ve ever owned in my 50+ years of driving. I’ve run into the same problem of relying on mobile coverage for navigating, so I use maps (you know, the paper ones?) they're still the best navigational aids bar none. I don’t trust tech stuff, with perfectly good reasons as far as I’m concerned. Maps don’t change and they don’t need an Internet connection. EVER! Love Blueberry!
Just discovered your channel, really enjoying it. We were locked down for so long and now it’s lovely to finally see visitors enjoying all we have to offer.
You two are so cute! I broke down at Eucla - broken radiator. I was stuck for 4 days. Despite that, I have found memories of how peaceful the place was and how friendly the people were.
I love this the last time I was on this road was in 1979 it has changed so much I did both the dirt and the hard road back in the 70s thankyou so many memories are coming back
Thanks for showing this road trip. Was reminding of my Australia trip a decade ago(!). It left me as a really valuable experience. I really want to take my kid there someday.
Happy anniversary. What a way to mark the occasion. Nothing like wine in a paper cup in the middle of nowhere to celebrate 😂 You guys are living life right.
Im an Aussie and its so good to see Australia through the eyes of a tourist, Lesson one , we dont use " gas " its petrol which you buy from a " servo " not a service station , haaa . Please be careful travelling the Nullarbor it can be a bit " dodgy " dangerous. Stay safe ,
I was willing you to have beetroot in your burger, and you did. That pretty much makes you an honorary Aussie 😅 And yes, the flies in the outback can be nuts! Glad you're taking your time to enjoy our wide brown land.
The Shire Mayor sending NASA a fine for littering when a piece of Skylab landed nearby was a cheeky tongue in cheek stunt. Poor NASA officials didn't know how to take it, especially as it was front page news that it was found. It took an Australian official in DC to explain that was just typical outback Aussie humor. We all thought it was hilarious here in Australia.
Happy anniversary!!! Thank you for sharing the beautiful scenery and what works or doesn't on your travels. You are both such nice people and respectful travelers.
As an Aussie seeing potato chips with a meal reminds me of the time I was traveling through Canada and ordered a Salmon and Chips only to see the plate arrive with potato chips. I laughed so hard. Good times.
Great video guys. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. My wife and kids and I drove from Newcastle to Perth and back in 1989. Those Great Australian Bight cliffs blew us away. Here's a tip: after you've passed through Ceduna, and get to Wudinna (pronounced Wood-na), get there early enough to try the bakery goodies then drive out to Mount Wudinna and climb it. A mini Uluru, but still ginormous. Oh and keep getting beetroot on your burgers. It's the best.
this is great for a 75 year old travel veteran , memories for life ,it might be expensive but its only money remember, for food , go to a country town and local creek cafe and order a mixed grill for breakfast . you wont regret it lasts all day . maybe its changed hope not , proper is ,,hamburger the lot ,, pattie ,,egg beetroot ,lettuce, cheese ,tomato , enjoy your trip ,life is a long road
I know you both did not have a lot of time in Esperance, but the museum there had quite a few displays dedicated to Sky Lab. Debris from Sky Lab's re-entry to Earths atmosphere was found between Balladonia and Esperance and I recall (having grown up in Perth) some bits landing around there as well. Basically the south west of Western Australia and the surrounding Indian and Southern Oceans. I am loving your channel. I live in Kalgoorlie but have not got to the Nullarbor in over 30 years. Will get back there one day with my wife and son soon I hope. Enjoy your travels around the rest of the parts of Aust. you are visiting.
When you leave border village next service stop Nullabor Roadhouse 2hours drive, then the turn off for the whales is 12kms continue to the Fowlers bay turn off 1.5 hours if you go in there they have seasonal whale watching boat trips. When/if you come out/there is a short cut east back to the main highway its then onto Penong (no speeding there) passing a sign that tells you you are leaving the Nullabor.. Happy Travels.
Did you know that the Nullabour has two emergency airstrips built into it so the Royal Flying Doctor Service can land and take people to hospital quicker than by road? Also, they have the worlds longest golf course. Beetroot in burgers is normal for us, at least we don't eat whole pickles here.
Moodini Bluff 24hour Camping area is a nice spot to stay the night. The view from top of Madura Pass is stunning. Pity you didn't show it. Have been across the Nullabor at least 5-6 times in last 3 years and looking forward to going across again in a couple of months. Thanks for the fun way you present your travels. You guys make me want to get up and go across there again right now!
It is also nice, (not compulsory) each little town or roadhouse, say hello and buy something, they need every bit of help from everyone and tourists to keep the lights on. I don't get why you bought a mattress but not pillows, pillows are cheap af. Australia used to have an inland sea, you will find fossils and shells anywhere you go.
Loving your travel adventures so far - what an awesome road trip to enjoy together. Safe travels and all the best to you guys from Perth, Western Australia.
love your videos done that trip many times i see your getting that feeling of a never-ending open expanse i think a unique one to Australia only felt out there one of complete isolation and remoteness the sound is pollution free (except for the road trains of course) you have to park up at night away from the roadhouse at the end of the nullabor and check out the stars no light pollution its an insane picture good luck blueberries gunna need it Ceduna is probably a place you dont want to stay at for too long.
Happy Anniversary :) The beetroot is pickled, so often its in place of regular pickles. Oh yeah you want a hat with a net out there to stop the flies. I wouldn't be worried about serial killers, but the sand lol. Glad you had help.
That is one seriously hellish drive. Last time I did it - when we booked in to a motel at about the half way mark there turned out to be a brown snake under the fridge!
Just came aross your channel and loving it. Can see you guys enjoy travelling a lot and really put in super human effort in researching and doing the actual ground visits. BTW, im from Singapore and i watched your Singapore visit prior to Australia. You guys practically walked from Maxwell Market to Harbourfront....thats a long walk! Full marks for commitment !!!
I am loving your channel , and in particular the trip across the Nullarbor. My husband I have travelled across several times, relocating camper vans and cars. Food at the Roadhouses is always good. They have truckers to feed!!!! We take it in turn to drive the Ninety Mile Straight. Enjoy. BTW, we relocated a camper from Sydney to Perth. First time I knew we grow cotton in Australia! We moved here from the UK in 2008 and are so happy.
Amazing guys! You are bringing me back so many memories as a kid driving across the Nullabor with my parents every 2-3 years from Perth to Melbourne to spend Christmas with my dads family. Some times we would drive through the night, which I don't recommend due to the Kangaroos about at night, we would always stop at the fuel station in Balladonia, and definitely at Eucla right before border village (do they still have the stone Whale there?). Cheveyo, very good checking the cars oil, water, fuel etc when you can. Ceduna is beautiful! Loving the adventure!
Another great video. Your sense of fun and adventure is a joy to watch. I was a bit concerned when you got bogged. Though the good thing about Oz is there's nearly always someone around with a four wheel drive to get you out of trouble. Look forward to the next one.
i did this trip many years ago and would nominate it as the most boring stretch of road in the world , although a kiwi coach driver once told me that there is a lot to see off road
My wife and I have been watching you guys for a while now We're so happy you're in our country now! Welcome! I was wondering if you considered taking Bluey in the ferry down to Tasmania? It's definitely worth checking out down there and wouldn't add that much longer to your trip, maybe a week or so. If you love natural scenery and nature you really shouldn't miss Tassy.
YES!!! beetroot in burgers is a must! we sometimes add a slice of pineapple in there too and it is soooo messy.... but delicious... and happy anniversary, not many people get to experience that on the nullarbor haha
Yes you guys are on the coast line of the Great Australian Bight. Regarding that stretch of straight highway. Somewhere to the north across the Nullarbor Plain is the longest stretch of straight railroad track in the world. Love your adventure. Keep up the great work and stay safe. OH! And when you are camping outside be on the alert for "wookalars." Very vicious characters!!
Recommend you buy Hema Road & 4WD Atlas of Australia for trip planning and on road navigation. Yes it’s old school but there is nothing quite like a paper map when your touring Australia
Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying your travel blog, your sense of humour is infectious , and impressive video skills all up makes for really interesting viewing..keep safe and continue to enjoy the journey through Australia.
Aussie from Perth and currently travelling in S.A aswell. I know that exact spot you got stuck. Why you may ask? We were instructed by Google to go that way and got stuck too then had to try reverse back and turn around in there with our 17.5m truck and caravan- was a bit of a mission. You are probably aware now, theres a good access road from behind where you are staying down to the ruins and jetty. P.S - Been loving the aussie accents by the both of you. Keep them coming.
Woohoo happy anniversary 🎉 Awesome drive and isn't it amazing to see that long neverending ribbon of road in front of you? Yes we love our canned beetroot on burgers. Oh you made good time there for the first day and it's enough for one day really 🙂 Oh my gosh how lucky that getting fella with his four wheel drive to help you.
Unfortunately you drove into the jetty too soon, the next road on the east side of airport takes you to a parking area with a short walk to the long abandoned telegraph station which is half buried in the dunes, the jetty was built for sea deliveries of supplies to there.
you guys need to turn off and go look at the bite that is the coastal part of the Nulla, do it at every chance it changes as you travel the Nulla, some places along the way you can get down to the beach

Looks like so much adventure! You're dad and I got stuck in the sand once too. Glad you guys got out!! Love you much
I’m gathering by you posting this video that you’re still safe and sound and probably have made it across the Nullarbor, safe travels.
The beetroot in the burger is the best.
Happy anniversary you two!! Love you guys
Happy Anniversary. Continue having an enjoyable trip through the Nullarbor and to your final destination on the East Coast.
Happy Anniversary! Love your adventures ❤ you two are such down to earth people and a wonderful couple.
Y’all are soooooo awesome ❤. Thank you for the best times

I know you both did not have a lot of time in Esperance, but the museum there had quite a few displays dedicated to Sky Lab. Every time I hear these birds 0:43 now I have to think of Cheveyos comment about them sounding like cats whining. It's hilarious and so right :D
Happy Anniversary :)
The beetroot is pickled, so often its in place of regular pickles.
Oh yeah you want a hat with a net out there to stop the flies.
I wouldn't be worried about serial killers, but the sand lol. Glad you had help.
I think the mostly uniquely Australian thing you can get is chicken salt chips with garlic sauce. Definitely. Few of them in Sydney
That is one seriously hellish drive. Last time I did it - when we booked in to a motel at about the half way mark there turned out to be a brown snake under the fridge!
Ah, that’ll affect your sleep! 😅
Hahaha that was a long walk! 😅 Thank you for being kind 😊
You guys are not afraid for a bit of walking!

Congrats you two, many happy years ahead together 👍☺

Congratulations on your 7th anniversary, hope you have many, many more.
Good job Blueberry. Today Nullabor, soon conquering the Nurburgring! What a car 🚙
Happy Anniversary Millennials! 🍾🥂 Great adventure!
Absolutely love peanut butter and could eat it until I feel sick. Tea absolutely love your written maps. Absolutely loved every minute
theres a fuel station along the nullarbor called "roadhouse" that sometimes has dingoes around. you should check it out :)
Really helpful when every roadhouse is called a "roadhouse".
My wife and I have been watching you guys for a while now
We're so happy you're in our country now! Welcome!
I was wondering if you considered taking Bluey in the ferry down to Tasmania? It's definitely worth checking out down there and wouldn't add that much longer to your trip, maybe a week or so. If you love natural scenery and nature you really shouldn't miss Tassy.
King single = 2single beds next to each other 😁 Happy anniversary guys!
YES!!! beetroot in burgers is a must! we sometimes add a slice of pineapple in there too and it is soooo messy.... but delicious...
and happy anniversary, not many people get to experience that on the nullarbor haha
Thank you both for the great interesting vide so far, i look forward to Part 2 👍
Wookalars???? Real or joke?????
@@wendyryder2708 OH! Wendy. You have no idea. The most horrilble animal in the world. Please look it up.
Recommend you buy Hema Road & 4WD Atlas of Australia for trip planning and on road navigation. Yes it’s old school but there is nothing quite like a paper map when your touring Australia
Good advice.
I love this video. I just drove from Norseman to Ceduna on my way to Brisbane. Great work 😊
Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying your travel blog, your sense of humour is infectious , and impressive video skills all up makes for really interesting viewing..keep safe and continue to enjoy the journey through Australia.
Congratulations on 7 years! 🥳
👍🏼😊👍🏼
Oh yeah, don't forget to visit Nimbin. About an hour from Byron bay, in the hinterlands. Lovely spot, lots of hippies.
The super pit at Kalgoorlie would be worth a look
Fun journey. Happy anniversary🎉. The jetty was pure art. Enjoy it all. Thx.
Stay on road in that thing!!!
Love your enthusiasm 👍😁
Aussie from Perth and currently travelling in S.A aswell. I know that exact spot you got stuck. Why you may ask? We were instructed by Google to go that way and got stuck too then had to try reverse back and turn around in there with our 17.5m truck and caravan- was a bit of a mission. You are probably aware now, theres a good access road from behind where you are staying down to the ruins and jetty.
P.S - Been loving the aussie accents by the both of you. Keep them coming.
Woohoo happy anniversary 🎉
Awesome drive and isn't it amazing to see that long neverending ribbon of road in front of you?
Yes we love our canned beetroot on burgers.
Oh you made good time there for the first day and it's enough for one day really 🙂
Oh my gosh how lucky that getting fella with his four wheel drive to help you.
there's a pub at baladonia roadhouse too. i had a beer and meat pie in the pub last time i was there.
You gotta have a campfire when you camp...or invest in a Trangia...hot cuppa at end of long day...perfect!
Happy anniversary guys! 🎉 Love from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!
Congratulations on your anniversary. Stay safe.
Top place for an anniversary it was our 46th last week so you have a long way to go. Keep up your great vblogs
Going to the Nullarbor in July from melb to Perth so I looked it up on UA-cam this video made me more excited for the trip
It’s so much cooler than the rep it gets 😊
Unfortunately you drove into the jetty too soon, the next road on the east side of airport takes you to a parking area with a short walk to the long abandoned telegraph station which is half buried in the dunes, the jetty was built for sea deliveries of supplies to there.
Glad your car is doing well, nice pick.
great road-trip.. enjoy❤
That use to be the sea floor millions of years ago!
you guys need to turn off and go look at the bite that is the coastal part of the Nulla, do it at every chance it changes as you travel the Nulla, some places along the way you can get down to the beach
The Australian salute hehe bloody flys 😂
