I first heard Olof in an interview on an NPR radio show around 2009 when her first album came out in the US. I was struck then by her voice and music, and years later I was pleasantly surprised to see her tour the US with Jose Gonzalez. When their show came to my city I was lucky enough to run into her in the lobby after her set and was able to thank her personally for her music. I hope some day she comes back to the US.

The Icelandic people have a "peace dividend" that they can invest in their culture, so they naturally can nurture more of their talent. In Oakland, there is a talented singer working as a maid in my building.

is there a siren going off in the beginning of the second song in the background like outside the room or something? it sounds like there's a siren but it's not an acoustic instrument sound.

@ omg..... I thought this was a joke about the same last name and both being Icelandic musicians, but looked it up and they are actually cousins xD
