Thanks to your suggestions, I could not resist to try the best cuban bakery in LA...the famous @portosbakeryandcafe From the Cubanos to their luscious potato balls, everything down to the cafe con leche to the pastries were phenomenal ... I could not think of a better way to start off the day!
But that's just the beginning as the sunny weather here in LA is ideal for outdoor food markets! And I had a fantastic time exloring and eating the LA's @smorgasburg outdoor market. I was an exceptionally hot day, and to cools things off, I had to visit some of the unique craft beverages, indulge in a little bit of seafood with oystersters and a wonderful Lobster noddle that was cooked to perfection! ..and to top things off..ice cream!!!
And as usual, as good as the food was, it was the people! From the hosts and servers at Porto's Bakery to the great people from the LA community. Thank you once again for joining me! Absolutely appreciate this virtual community here!

Great video, Tim!! So glad you went to Porto's, which is considered sacred ground in SoCal. I know you experienced a "long line,: but during holidays, the line at the Burbank location goes out the door and down the sidewalk halfway to the parking lot. Fortunately, the line always goes very quickly...their employees are well trained and very friendly. The Cubano and medianoche sandwiches are incredible!!

Bill & Lisa, it’s so hot in LA now as he mentioned in the video. Otherwise, it would be nice for him to not interview but just go closer to each vendors to show their food just like you guys all do at all the buffets 😝. I do admit that there are Not many UA-camrs who would go out of their way to show every vendors in the festivals or farmers markets, etc. Go Out On A Lim and Dining With Derek are 2 UA-camrs who actually did show every single vendors in the farmers markets in Hawaii. It was probably a year ago that they did the farmers markets in Hawaii 🥦🥬🥒🌶🫑🥕🫒🧄🍆🍅🥝🥥🥑🍍🥭🍑🍒🍈🫐🍓🍇🍉🍌🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋. These days it is too hot to be walking around like that 🥵.
Bill & Lisa, another UA-camr Anita Lee did the farmers market in Vancouver about a month ago. She showed a lot of vendors especially the vegetables and fruits vendors. Hawaii has the special vendor with the abalone that Mr. Lim and Mr. Derek not only showed, but also ate the abalone which was awesome. Not everyone likes the abalone, and not everyone is familiar with the Asian delicacy unfortunately.

Porto's is a must try 😋
My favorites at Porto's are the guava cheese strudel, plantain chips, dulce leche besito cookies, French toast.... The prices are also incredible. I wish they would open up a shop up north here in the Bay Area. Yum ❤

So glad you were finally able to go to Porto's! The potato balls are my one of my favorites, but the fruit tart...that is to die for! I love it so much, I actually served that at my wedding back in 2005. And of course I request it for my birthday every year. I definitely need to get myself to Smorgasburg. Everything looks so good!

Awesome that you got to try Porto’s! We live near one of their locations, so we are there quite often. While, I do love their classic items that they’re known for, the other dishes are equally as amazing. Our go-to sandwich is the ‘Pan con Lechon.’ It’s filled with their garlicky roasted pork-that melts in your mouth, topped with pickled red onion, on their amazing rolls. They also have that in plate form, served with black beans, rice, and plantains. My go-to salad choice is the ‘Rustic Chopped Chicken Salad,’ with greens/kale, grilled chicken breast, candied bacon, grape tomatoes, cotija cheese, avocado, and red onion. OMGEEE! My mouth is watering! I definitely want to try Smorgasburg sometime, when it’s not so hot out. Bill and Lisa loved it, and everything they had, along with everything you had, definitely makes me want to go!

Good to see some Porto’s Bakery content, Tim. Love those refugiados (guava and cheese strudels) and potato balls.
There was once a Cuban restaurant around the corner from my apartment which made their signature sandwiches. They're not there anymore but I can still remember those sandwiches and watching this episode is making hungry... what else is new. Cheers to you. ..

Tim...Portos is the bomb. The Glendale location is closer to me, but whichever you choose, they are ALWAYS busy. Excellent choice on the potato balls - one of their best sellers. Enjoy seeing your excursions in our neck of the woods.

Porto’s is my fave! You can order on line! I usually get Refugiado Cream cheese guava, cheese rolls, 🎉potato balls & Dulce De ale he Besito cookies! So yummy! There’s other things available to buy which I need to try. The market area seemed to have great food also!
Tim: you're really doing a lot in the LA area. I've enjoyed the last few but this da,y, for me, was the most interesting! Firstly, I have Cuban family in Miami so Cuban pastries, Comfort food & drinks I know very well. Porto's looked very authentic ! I think the only Cuban classic you missed was a batido, which is a fruit milk shake! I can't believe you pigged out at breakfast! Now that Smorgasburg was very, very interesting! So, so much selection! I know your crazy for the lobster! I assume it only works weekends? Super video!

Hey Tim! We always watch your videos but really enjoyed this one, the food stalls/people/weather was awesome! If you’re still in town you should go back and do another video eating at different vendors! Take care dude!
Mr. Blower, you said the weather was awesome!!!! He mentioned a few times that it was extremely hot 🥵!!!! If the weather wasn’t so hot, he could had shown each and every vendors’ food. He don’t need to eat each vendors’ food. Of course, not many UA-camrs go out of their way to do this even in good weather. Dining With Derek and Go Out On A Lim have done it though in a big farmers market in Hawaii about a year ago or so.

If you go to Portos don't let the lines put you off. They move fast and when you get inside it gives you time to figure out what you want to order! Everything is delicious!

It's still being worked on .. We were enjoying everyone's company and didn't focus as much as I should have with the filming... But it's all there... Disneyland is certainly a lot harder to edit than a buffet where all the food is in one straight line 😆. Seriously though, still working on it and generally videos that are a little bit more special and meaningful takes a bit more time to do it justice 🙂

I’m so happy that you got try Porto’s it’s still known throughout Burbank in the San Fernando Valley. love The potato balls. Since they open one in Northridge near meI have been going more often. You may want to try Bret’s Jewish deli it’s excellent they make their own pastrami turkey and corn beef their cabbage soup is to die forit has beef short ribs. And I can tell you this because I’m Jewish and cook most of the stuff that they make and they’re better than me and my recipes are passed down from my grandparents and mother. Enjoy Los Angeles I enjoy watching all your videos they make me very happy. Keep doing such a good work

That wasn’t pico de gallo in the potato ball. Remember is Cuban food and pico de gallo is Mexican. What you saw inside the potato ball was onions and peppers, which are staples in Cuban cooking.

It looks like you are having fun in L.A. I worked in L.A. for a short time, but could barely remember with the exception of Chinatown with lots of Vietnamese people and Disneyland. You had a wonderful breakfast at Porto’s Bakery with the cheese guava, napoleon and fruit tart. At the Smorgasburg the big oysters looked delicious plus the garlic noodles with the salt & pepper lobster. Last but not least is the ice cream dessert. Very good 👍.

If you want authentic Cuban food go visit a bakery in Miami. The next best to Cuban pastries, and more, here in Los Angeles county is at "La Tropicana" in Downey, Ca. On the corner of Paramount Blvd. And Florence Ave.

How long will you be in LA? Try Grand Central Market downtown for a fun experience! And if you are still here for a little longer, try Clearman's Steak 'n Stein in Pico Rivera, a fun, old-school steakhouse!

Portos is a curse. They started in my neighborhood, in a hole in the wall when I was a kid. I found out about it, it was in Glendale, my mother ask me to buy some Guava and cheese strudel for a Christmas party. I worked nights so I can go there in the morning. I was pissed because I was there all morning. When my coworkers found out I was close, they ask me to bring some all the time. I found out two of my coworkers live even closer. I made it a rule, when I bring something, I mix it up. I didn't want people to get use to me bringing Portos.
Haha, yeah, it's definitely easy to get designated as the go-to person for Porto's 😆. There's quite a bit of effort too! It's a long wait 😉

Most likely he didn't get to wear these Coke T shirts when he was a teenager and he is now making up for it LOL
I don't really have much of a fashion sense 😉 I was actually passing by the Coca-Cola store in Vegas and saw they had t-shirts with different languages and thought it would be nice to get one of each country/language... Plus they were having a sale 😉
