Upgrading an M4 CSL with MSS Hybrid Suspension

- The M4 CSL is an incredible car, you can really feel all the work BMW M put in to pushing the G82 M4 to create something much more focused on track performance.
This doesn't mean it's perfect however, with it sitting quite high out of the box. A simple lowering spring or HAS kit wouldn't do for this car though, the potential to ruin the cars excellent handling ability was simply too great.
That is where the MSS Hybrid Suspension system comes in, an advanced spring setup utilising multiple spring rates to lower the car without sacrificing handling ability or comfort all whilst retaining the original dampers and their EDC functionality.
But can it be so good that it even improves the handling characteristics of a CSL? Imran gets behind the wheel to find out.

@@EvolveAutomotive idk if its just the controversial styling, but i think black or gray is the best paint job on any g8x. they are the most badass, aggressive cars on the road. especially with the yellow DRLs

I would love to hear what those M devision chassis engineers think about aftermarket suspensions, especially in comparison with the CSL's suspension since tons of R&D must've gone into that.
Yes and this is why we knew a simple lowering spring wouldn’t cut it. We’d love to get this car in the hands of one of BMW M’s test drivers to get their feedback!

The red stripes on the side really makes the red on the grille and hood more cohesive
That’s how the CSL’s come from factory, with the red on the side skirts, roof, bonnet and around the grille

Looking forward to your CSL review. I've done 6k miles in mine now and a few trackdays and absolutely love it, as you say it's quite missunderstood by the motoring press. These springs look great, I assume you will put them on your own CSL? If so can I come a see it in mine as I am tempted?
It’s definitely made to be used so hopefully more owners get out there like you and use them!
We’ll definitely be fitting them to our CSL, and you’re more than welcome to come down and see it/come out for a passenger ride.

We didn’t spec or fit the wheels so couldn’t say for sure, but they do share very similar wheel specs.

Imran have you guys dug into the ZF8 software in the CSL yet and possibly are able to offer that as a coding solution yet? I've seen a few with CS TCU tunes but seemingly nobody offers confirmed CSL ZF8 tuning yet. I ask because one of the owners on the forums owns both cars and says the CSL programming is definitely more aggressive.
We are testing CSL software development currently.
XHP is great for the ZF8 however, with a huge amount of customisation.
@@EvolveAutomotive Yeah XHP is fine, would just rather have the most aggressive factory calibration when possible.
So does this upgrade still lets you change suspension stiffness in the infotainment system ? Like for comfort and sport mode ?
It does yes
it would handle better with the bilstein dampers included.
What happened to the touring project one of your staff members was doing ?
It’s still happening, very slowly 😅
why do u mount pilot sport 4s instead of cup 2?
We didn’t fit these wheels or tyres, or choose anything about them.
But for road use in the U.K., PS4S is the best all round tyre for performance use.
@@EvolveAutomotive Sorry, I forgot that you live in U.K. I live in Sardinia and here it's sunny for most of the year, so it makes sense to mount cup 2. With a rainy weather I suppose that are better ps4s. Thank you

I refuse to tell BMW I like the look of the G82 yet, but in dark/matte colours they look not terrible at least
It's grown on me over the last 2 years. Its a good looking car and stand out from the m340i, wich looks too normal for such a capable car

You had me at the first half with upgrading.... but when it wasn't about changing that HORRIBLE grill you lost it completely.
There is no logic in what you are saying….you lose the harshness and the handling is compromised..
