    Great work around on the top spacers, seal, and factory bearing cover. The addition of the keyed washer is exactly how I'd do it also. Just finished a CX500 Cafe yesterday and am starting another tomorrow and this client wants a USD fork conversion. Fortunately I have an 05 GSX600R parts bike. Thank you for a quality video, The Dutchman.

    I really liked how detailed your explanation on how you make everything works.i have a 1975 cb550 and it seemed like everything is the same,and I’m putting a 2004 gsx r1000 front end on it with the same neck bearing part number for the top and the bottom.thanks for this video.

    im building a cx500c with gsxr 750 fork swap, i just shaved 3/16th of an inch off the bottom on the neck tube, and it made all the room for all nuts/washers

      Perfect, you'll love that front end. Monday video will be the final GL video. Check it out, we filmed riding next to it so you can see how it sits when riding.

    I know this is quite a bit off time wise. I watching this to learn now to make a fork swap myself.
    There is a company that im looking to go with. They make new conversion stems to be slightly longer to take care of that issue

    Are your inner races flush with top of stem tube? I think the race should go be recessed about an 1/8 inch top and bottom. I could be wrong, but I thought thats how I've seen it done on a CX/GSXR All Balls conversion.

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  5 років тому

      Yes fully set. I plan on making a video about the bearings. The CX might be different, although if you look at some of the Cognito Moto photos close up, you can see the same issue.

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  5 років тому

      But a more direct answer to your question is with the top race fully seated, the race protrudes above the head tube about 1/8" fully seated. You can see it at 18:44

  • @jdwhite2dw
    @jdwhite2dw 5 років тому

    Now I see that the CX and GL are quite different in the head tube.

      @@daviddesotomayor9975 The GL is 222mm and the early GX is 223mm. Motofaction is a great site for tons of info on fork swaps.

    What do you recommend to do the swap to a 929 honda 2000 I have a gl500 82

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  4 роки тому

      Haven't done one but it would be very similar. You can look up the outside diameter of the frame headset then the inside diameter of the cbr stem then look up the bearing set on all balls website. The bearings were the easy part. The steering stops were more of a pain. Go to cognito moto and get the steering stops kit, it's cheap easy and works. If I did it again that's what I would use for stops.
