In the second to last memory on Iki Kazumasa was indicated that he had made a misjudgement on Jin, and that he is a Sakai. What he didn't get to say, was probably his intent to be more of a father he should've been from the start.
You have a very in depth view of Kazumasa and the events around him. I had a much simpler explanation of him and of the Iki island memories. I saw the disparaging thoughts that Kazumasa had of Jin, were Jin's internalized feelings of how his father saw him. Which as a child, would cause insecurities and doubts about whether his father truly loved him. And maybe Kazumasa distanced himself from Jin because he reminded him of his wife. His exploits on Iki I think, were of a man who was in despair and deeply lost. Just throwing himself into action without caring. Why didn't Jin save his father? My view is that deep down, he didn't approve of what his father did. Jin has always shown that the lives of others are important to him and watching what his father did on Iki, made that resolve even stronger. It's what he said to Shimura at the training grounds. I appreciate your thoughtful take on all of it. There were many sides that I hadn't thought of.
I just got around to playing GoT recently, but I'm so glad to find someone making detailed analyses like this, even if I'm a year or two late. This was a wonderful watch.
Thank you so much, very kind words! I do have at least one more video essay in mind, to do a deep analysis of Yuna and Taka, and their whole story together. After that, it's all up to anyone else who gives me suggestions. :)
@@PhasmaOfTsushima Yes, a Yuna and Taka analysis would be dope. After that, I'd really love to see a breakdown of Ishikawa and Tomoe. For whatever reason, I gravitated towards their storyline the most out of all of the characters. I think its the archer in me that loved it so much. But I also had so many questions. Both Tomoe and Ishikawa were super evasive and misleading with any questions Jin had, so I feel like there's a lot to unpack there. Hearing you go over their story arc would be amazing. Keep these up, love to see them.
I really enjoyed the video. Good work! I just wish the game didn't treat the conflict on Iki so black and white, with the raiders being the poor massacred and the samurai being the twisted evil guys. The raiders are, well, raiders, pirates, literal thieves and criminals, and the samurai were supposed to bring law and order. It would have been a perfect opportunity for exploring a more diverse and morally grey conflict, with the samurai maybe being forced by duty to do what they did, and the raiders not being the poor innocent. I don't know. I feel the biggest let down to me was Kazumasa himself. In the main questline he's described in a very different way as he was in the dlc, where's he's closer to a one-dimensional sadistic killer. They had the perfect opportunity of portraying him as a man consumed by honour and duty, being forced to do what he did, which would also help in Jin's character development as a set up for when he finally rejects the honour code, but no. Game choose the easy "evil father is evil" route. What a shame
Yes, I thought about this after the fact too. There's a lot of lore in the main game that pirates had and still attacked Tsushima. Not sure how we're supposed to sympathize with them when they did it so often and repeatedly. Sure it was a campaign of subjugation, but I do feel the raiders instigated it. Jin does his best to defend the cause of the samurai whenever he could though.
U are underrated as fuck but the worst thing its so unfortunate that you cant get the viewes you deserve because the game isnt on the levels like gow or rdr or games that are soo popular but you doing these essays are so insparitaional for me thank you for keeping alive my love for my second favourite game of all time hope you read this cause you are a savior in my life right now
You should have way more views. All of your video essays are so insightful and well written. I’ve seen so many other character analyses on UA-cam, but yours are best. Keep up the great work!
Sidenote but when you think about it Kazumasa and his tactics are how most Samurai fought in battle and they were brutal unlike the honor fantasy of Shimura. Also Kazumasa may have been a “prototype” ghost. Also the idea that apparently The wind may be Kazumasa guiding Jin from beyond and in a way I think he also agrees with Jin’s path as the ghost since when you enter ghost stance the wind leads you to the nearest enemy.
Lord Shimura would've sent him to a duel against Khotun instead of Lord Adachi, and due to the things Yuriko said about him, I'm not sure if he's losing

The smarts of shimura, the kindness of chiyoko and the strength/skill of kazumasa
All lead to the ghost
Jin inherited the best parts of Chiyoko, Kazumasa and Shimura.
Compassion and harmony from Chiyoko. Brutality from Kazumasa but tempered by honor from Lord Shimura.
@@manhunter433perfectly sums up Jin

Jin was a coward and a weak man.
@@louditalian1962 You are wrong. I feel Jin is braver than Kasumasa.
Kazumasa is favourite character in the whole game
you are one of the underrated channels that needs more recognition.
Aw thank you! I'm gonna hang in there, this franchise is no where close to being finished! Here begins the ride to the Movie adaptation!
I just got around to playing GoT recently, but I'm so glad to find someone making detailed analyses like this, even if I'm a year or two late. This was a wonderful watch.
Thank you for watching! I will continue posting more videos in the future!
I finally found a channel dedicated to one of my favorite games. Time to binge.
Keep doing these, this was incredibly dope. Love hearing deeper takes on this amazing story. Can't get enough!

Another amazing essay thanks for doing these videos definitely the best Ghost Of Tsushima channel on UA-cam. Merry Christmas and best wishes always.
It would be good to make a what if kazumasa was still alive

Probably one of my favorite channels when it comes to GOT. These are so good! 🙏
Fantastic video essay! Keep up the fantastic work, you earned yourself a loyal subscriber!
So chiyoko was the light to kazumasa darkness
He married The Jito's sister. Not his daughter. Jin is Shimura's nephew. Let's just get that straight
There were many "Lord Shimuras", and OUR Lord Shimura was not always jito of Tsushima. His father was the one who allowed Chiyoko to marry Kazumasa.
