      I'm doing my Avalon rims today. The clear coat is pedaling so I'd like your thoughts. I plan to use Aircraft paint striker to remove the clear coat completely. Then once they are completely dry, I plan on 3 coats of black followed by 2 coats of Black Sapphire and then 2 coats of Glosifier. I dont plan to put any clear coat back on prior to dipping my wheels. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

      MrOptioneer use the 2k gloss for the last coat after you apply the plasti dip and pearl colours. Just do one light coat followed by one medium/heavy coat right after to seal it all in and let it dry for 48 hours

    • @EhabHalat
      @EhabHalat  4 роки тому +2

      Hey! If you are looking to do a flat black, just use black plasti dip and clear coat them after with plasti dip clear or if you want a more semi permanent finish use 2k clear coat by spraymax

    • @tombates9122
      @tombates9122 4 роки тому +1

      Yeah, i'd recommend plasti-dip if you just want flat black, especially on new rims. Just make sure you use plenty of coats and that, apart from the first 1 or 2, they are laid on thick. It sounds counter-intuitive but plasti-dip is easiest to remove when it was laid on thick, as it tends to peel off in larger pieces. The cool thing about plast-dip is that it will actually protect the original finish of your new wheels so, if you ever decide to sell them, you can return them to original condition really easy.

    @Liquid Dipper great video. Hey idk if that’s just me but there isn’t much difference between the satin and matte black? I’ve only plasti dipped using matte black and notice they pick up dirt quicker but I like the look of matte black, will adding the satirizer fix that problem; as is have a similar look but should be easier to clean as it will have a smoothe top layer like a glosifier or in person does the satinizer look a lot different than the matte?

    • @EhabHalat
      @EhabHalat  5 років тому

      Zane Lee III hey! Yeah you can see a big difference in person. It gives it a light sheen and a little bit easier to clean with the satin finish rather than the matte finish. Always use a clear for a matte finish for extra protection and smoother finish.

    I sprayed my rims with plastidip, black paint and gloss enamel. They are way too glossy. Is there a way to take it back to a semi shine without removing and starting over? Great how to and you are my newest best friend. JAH

    • @EhabHalat

      Just spray plasti dip over it again and use a semi gloss but you might have to wait until the original coating on there now cures for about 30 days

    Do u have to use the dip coat or dip shield at the end of the six coats for the matte finish?

  • @jdmorgan1787

    If you leave the rims on the car while you spray. And then have to change the tire, this will damage the coat on lug nuts, but will it also peel of the rims too since it was sprayed together?
    Im just trying to figure out if i should take the time to remove the rims or be lazy n just spray while on the car. Spray one rim, then next n by the time im back to the first rim its should be ready for its next coat.

      Hey, sometimes the lug nuts will stick to the rim depending on how the lug nuts sit. To be safe i would remove rims and maybe get black lug nuts because it wont last long if you plasti dip the lug nuts you have now.

      @@EhabHalat what is the difference with AutoDip. A local place does entire cars, and they said they'd do my wheels in gloss black for about $300. Isn't that a little high or do they do something different than what is shown here? Thanks.

    • @EhabHalat
      @EhabHalat  6 років тому

      JoeBoone82 Hey! Autodip is also a removable coating which works pretty similar to any removable coating. $300 sounds about right if they are doing a good job and are authorized.

      @@EhabHalat Thanks for the feedback. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting ripped off, or if I should just spend $100 or so in materials and do it myself. I have zero experience with it though. They said $280 for matte black and it was a little over $300 for gloss black. I couldn't find anyone else local to compare with. Only other options I looked into were powder coating, and checking several places, it was anywhere from $750 and up.

    Love your channel. Quick question, how do you get the wheels when finished to not feel tacky? I did 5 coats of matte black and 3 coats of glossifier and it is so tacky, sticky. Very hard to clean because you can’t wipe it.

    So what about the lug nuts? Seems this stuff would peel right off the lug nuts, and a lug wrench could also easily scratch the wheel.
    If plasti-dip gets scratched, does it start peeling quickly after? Is there a way to touch it up without it looking like crap and having to do the entire thing over?

    I've watched so many videos on this. Some sand paper the rims at first as well ? Really wanna do this to mine. However I wouldn't wanna mess it up either. Couldn't you just take the rim off the tire as well ?

    • @EhabHalat
      @EhabHalat  5 років тому

      No need to sand the rim down when using plasti dip. Don’t take the tires off because the plasti dip will get ruined when putting the tires back on with the tire machine. Use tire shine on the side walls and spray the side walls with every coat you do that way it will be easy to peel the dip off the side wall of the tire after or you can just tape the side wall of the tire off

    • @EhabHalat
