I bought 3 copies of this book. 1 is for me and the other 2 for the pastors of our local church. Finally wrote the inscription today and will deliver them tomorrow. And in case you missed it ~ "If pastors are silent in the pulpit, the people will be ignorant in the pews." Great quote. I added it to my inscription, with credit to Pastor Gary.
This was excellent. It’s time for all Christians to speak up for Biblical truths. Time is short. Timidity is not allowed.
What about speaking in a quiet way? God's voice is often in a whisper. Teaching church classes, VBS, Christian camps, volunteering at crisis pregnancy centers, helping people 1on 1, volunteering at food bank, volunteer medical projects for the poor, what's wrong with doing those types of things instead of debating, protesting, rioting,or causing problems?
Just a lay/novice take on this - nothing is wrong with the things you suggest, especially instead of protests/riots, etc. The key for all of us - put God first and foremost, accept His Grace and Love through the Son and the continuing strength, wisdom, and guidance from the Spirit. Do not in any way put the ‘object’, event, issue, or objective in front of the Creator. But provide grace and especially personal forgiveness when any of us doesn’t get it quite right.

Just because John MacArthur, John Piper and Alistair Begg didn't sign the Manhattan Doctrine doesn't mean that they won't speak out against evil because they do! Look what John MacArthur did when COVID hit. Thank you for standing with Christ. I truly appreciate this interview.

@@Justaguywithtruth I have listened to some of Pipers sermons and seen him in Q & A with MacArthur. I find him to be sincere, but he gets over dramtic while trying to be truthful. That can get to be annoying.

As these last days approach Billions will lose their physical lives ( see Bill Gates, Klaus Schwab and the World Economic Forum) but we must protect our Spirit from Globalists and their Deception.. Anything men do or say which is not Biblical is against A Holy God,. Which means it supports the god of this world, Hasatan,,Satan.. This is why The Christ speaks of the days being shortened.. If not the very elect can be fooled. John Ramerize gets it correct, so does Charles Lawson, Voddie Baucham, Isaiah Saldivar, Gino Jennings and Russ Dizdar.. they to are human but by clinging to the Truth of God Alone the narrow road is possible for some🙏💪☝👍

I have listened to Eric's message about this book over and over when he speaks to different churches and it NEVER gets old. I want to memorize it. I totally agree and I just want to scream when pastors tell me "Christians shouldn't be involved in politics".

I believe there has to be root to this Pastoral opinion. I wonder what is being taught in seminaries. Opinions of those who want to play it safe among their pastoral peers who because of cowardice, speak loudly and opiniated in order to convince others to take on the same stance.

Me too, there is a church in the Mpls area who have been anti politics for years! I talked to a leader in my denomination today, we don’t have anyone giving committee mtg testimony at our state capitol here in MN and we are passing liberal legislation like that of California! Nothing is being said from the pulpit. Our congregations haven’t a clue about the bills being passed by the Democratic trifecta.
every church needs to hear this and act, as an individual i need to hear God and act, Lord give me ears to hear, lead me in you Your way
I listen to Eric's daily radio interview program at least once a week. He was on fire this evening! He was being interviewed, maybe that's the difference. I tuned in to hear Pastor Hamrick and got double blessed!
I readDietrich Bonnhoffer book. "Cost of discipleship" in the early 1990 when the Lord just saved me. I couldn't stop reading. I was baby Christian , but it was with the Bible a wonderful book written for followers of Christ. Amen

VERY WELL SAID!!! We have confused the meaning of 'political' and 'righteousness'. We've confused 'corruption' and 'evil' with truth and righteousness.
Reminds me of the quote, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." So sad.
Just wanted to point out - the reason why MacArthur, Piper and Begg didn't sign the Manhattan Declaration would have been that it was an ecumenical (multi-faith) document and would have seen it as a coupling with the Roman Catholic church, making the Gospel a secondary issue instead of a primary one. Just stating that they didn't sign it without giving context as to why, is an unfair mischaracterisation of these men. MacArthur is undeniably one of the most outspoken pastors on issues facing the world today, to his credit I've never seen him back down on anything.

The reason they “likely” didn’t sign-so you don’t really know why… it seems the most probable…did Catholics sign this?? What denominations did?? Need more information not just guessing
Thank you for this explanation. I figured if MacArthur didn’t sign that document, he had a darn good reason. Because John MacArthur fought the California Gov during lock downs & kept his church open! He stood his ground when the city fined him. He refused to pay it. He stood his ground when they removed access to a parking lot. He simply made different arrangements for the congregation! His church went to court & ultimately won. So I think MacArthur made it crystal clear, he’s not woke.
@@lindaphillips4246 under no circumstances could men like MacArthur be failing the church today - he's been one of the most vocal against abortion (did you see his open letter to Gavin Newsome?) and church closures during C-19, also maintaining the sanctity of marriage etc. You are in error if you believe otherwise, simply listening to a couple of sermons (which I highly suggest as he is excellent) or if you haven't got the time Googling him will reveal the truth. He simply doesn't join hands with non-Christians in causes if it compromises the Word of God in any way.

So grateful to Eric!! He opened my eyes to American politics back in late 2019!! I was ignorant and apolitical before that.
The Lord spoke to me in Oct 19 and said
"This will be a time of separation and goodbyes."
I went on YT at the time to see if anyone else was getting the word SEPARATION but there was nothing. Then covid!!!
So when the plandemic happened I was prepared and could join the dots. I was led to study the rapture and learned sound dispensational theology and everything became clear.
So few churches are politically engaged and prophetically aware.
I have challenged several pastors but they are too busy to do research , ignorant on prophecy and scared to be "divisive". As if Christianity is not divisive on so many levels. For good reasons!! Truth is more important than being divisive. Unity cannot work when based on a lie!!

There are many in jails in China and Iran and other countries. They have stood strong to live for Jesus. It is now our turn, in their honour, to also speak up for Jesus. It is urgent, we must let people know who Jesus is and that he loves them. Jesus is coming soon, may he be proud of us went he snatches us up.

Ordered my copy. He is right, we are called to action. Jesus sent the apostles out into the world to speak the gospel, to live in truth, to show the world, to prove to the world, to live in faith, to live in such a way. Paul's letters speak a lot about this.

I read this book and thought it was excellent and totally scary. Absolutely sobering. He’s an excellent writer and guest. I saw him on the Kurt Cameron show and he was being interviewed about his books and I immediately ordered his books.
100% agree the church needs to take a stand . I am thankful I am in a church that believes the Word of God is Truth , it has not changed . So thankful for these two men willing to stand against all the sin and evil in America. Prayers for courage and protection for the remnant church.

In this push for unity within the church, we are mistaking unity with accepting all doctrine. Some doctrine doesn't matter so much (i.e. the gift of tongues) if we agree but some certainly does and we should absolutely speak up. We don't want to be unified with darkness and we don't want to be unified with false teaching and false teachers. We simply HAVE to pray for discernment so we can know what is God's truth and we MUST read our Bibles so we know. Excellent discussion. I have listened to both of these gentleman alot and as much as I love Eric Metaxas, he does have a habit of interrupting.
Satan never changes his tactics. I sent out a message to our church regarding the demon goats head on the Christmas wreath at the white house. I received one reply!
He just wants people to hear to save our lives and country. We all don't do all things perfect at all times.
He should get a pen and paper and make a quick note. I reckon they interrupt to make a point immediately, because they fear they will forget to make the point later.

Excellent disucssion. I've also heard arguments by pastors against speaking out about political issues. I kind of went back and forth on this myself until politics invaded the church by forcing them to close in 2020 and now with "Pride" propaganda, CRT, etc. But pastors can take a stand without signing a joint declaration that includes people who differ radically on the foundations of their faith; it can give the appearance that they're in agreement theologically. Recently, I read where a group of Muslim parents protested "woke" policies by their local school board. Many Christians applauded them, even though they differed in belief. Otherwise, it was a very thought-provoking and timely subject.

We URGENTLY need a companion book by Eric on Letter to the British church....
Here's a simple "bottom line..."
As I worked managing church outreach and grassroots training in California years ago for an affiliate of Focus on the Family, encouraging pastors to urge their congregants to PRAY for our leaders and ELECT God-fearing leaders, I sat across the desk from MANY pastors, some of whom would say to me,
"Mark, we don't want to divide the church along partisan lines..." to which I would reply,
"I AGREE with you, Pastor, BUT that I'm not talking about 'partisanship' OR 'politics' -- rather, we MUST URGE the church to FULFILL her BIBLICAL DUTY to PRAY for our leaders (I Tim. 2: 1-4), and ELECT God-fearing leaders (Exod. 18:21) who will STAND for Biblical ideas including LIFE, MARRIAGE, and RELIGIOUS LIBERTY for freely share Christ."
It's BIBLICAL DUTY, not political pursuit!
When political has become evil then you must address it and do what you can to engage and remove the people influenced and demanding evil be the laws we must honor...
Like what he said about the v-ax. We were threatened many times with our jobs. We were willing to move away, retire or find another job. We never missed a paycheck praise God. We never did get that ja-b. We just prayed and asked God to support us.

The government had the church frightened to speak out about abortion, homosexuality, divorce, affairs, lying, cheating, theft! The church became milk toast!! They were afraid to speak up! They were threatened with lawsuits if they did speak up! But we are to be salt and light to our generation!!

Disappointed with Andy Stanley, J MacArthur, Alistair Begg, etc who refused to sign the Chuck Colson's Manhattan Declaration in defense of life and other basic moral issues.

So important that the preachers and those in the pews understand current cultural issues from a Biblical point of view and speak persuasively against their wickedness. The Bible commends those who understand the times and those who take a militant stand against evil. We must pray for the ministers, elders and deacons and parents in our communities to be informed and to be courageously praying and acting in opposing the everyday evil that is destroying us.....Who is praying for our governors, mayors, sheriffs, city council, county commissioners, etc.?

As for people walking away - Jesus challenged His followers and 500 of them left. It's called winnowing and God says He'll do a lot of it. The Bride will be without spot or wrinkle - NOT compromised with the devil !!!!
