  • Caution - HOT TAKE incoming :-D Hands on review of the Nomos Club Neomatik, the German answer to dive watches!
If dive watches were a person, I imagine they'd be in some sort of an existential crisis right now. Not many people actually use their dive watches for their intended purpose aka. deep diving, professional diving etc.
However, we do like to take them on holidays with us. They are our trusted companion whenever we take a swim. So is that gas escape valve really necessary (looking at you, Omega)? Do we really need an even larger case for that (yep, that's you Rolex)?
    Probably not.
I stumbled across this beautiful Nomos Club Neomatik and only later found out, that on top of everything (those colors) it's up to 200m water resistant!!
A perfect choice for everyone (including the IBWC) who's looking for a different, perhaps simpler take on dive watches!
    Thank you for watching!
    Jenni ❤️

I love everything about this watch. I must be an old fart because I wouldn't market it as a "dive" watch without a timing bezel, no matter how water resistant it is. But I guess, "to dive watch specs" might be too complicated for the public. Whatever. Love that dial.

As a long time diver, it takes a lot of imagination and the stretching of that imagination beyond all limits to refer to this a dive watch! It has none of the attributes except for water resistance. As some field watches are beginning to appear with this type of wr, I think it's probably better to call it a field watch, but then it's only a field watch if it has lume on the hands as it needs it when you're out camping in the wilds at night. You don't mention if it's lumed or not, or maybe I missed it. If not, that's a final nail in the coffin of any suggestion of it being a dive watch. Having said that, it's a real beauty. I would label it as a very good looking dress watch to bring to a house party, and if you get tipsy and accidentally fall into the swimming pool, the watch will be fine .😉

@@MPD90 They may sell it as a dive watch but it is in no way shape or form a dive watch. I wholeheartedly agree with Brian M. It is better suited as a field watch. However, not one I would wear in the field. It is beautiful though.

@@MPD90 Let someone die on a dive because they ran out of air, while wearing this watch. NOMOS gets sued, because they advertise it as a dive watch, but it doesn't even have a rotating bezel, let alone a one-directional rotating bezel. Calling this a dive watch is borderline negligent, and Jenni should know better.

I stopped diving in 2015 after 46 years. At the end my last dive computer could tell me how much air I had left, my depth and dive profile, what my no stop time was and if I was ascending too fast. It also had a fairly accurate compass built in. All this for, if memory serves me correctly, about £350. Why would you wear a watch like the Nomos instead?

Totally agree jenni . I think Nomos are such an important company in the watch industry with their very defined design and excellent craftsmanship . I own the Tangente ahoi 40 mm and it’s a such a well crafted piece but I find it hard to love . The fact that it’s all dial and the way the lugs jut out makes it look huge and quite cumbersome on the wrist . The lugs are part of of the DNA but feel they could perhaps look at curving them a little , feel this would project a more refined look .

I recently catched a Nomos Ahoi Neomatik, in its limited Bucherer blue colour on the Nomos website shop and am over the moon with it :-). The dial is not as dark as the usual Nomos blue, and most important (to my eyes, everyone his/her own tastes here), has silver hands and greyish numbers, that I find much more accorded to the case and colour scheme, in comparison to the guilt the blue Nomos one has. This is the first quite pricey watch I buy, and I went for Nomos because of their amazing inhouse calibre 3001 and their achievement with their Swing System. I found it important to support that level of innovation and craft. As you said, unpretending dive watch, but capable nevertheless, and a refreshing twist on Bauhaus too :-). I concour with you about the Nylon Nomos strap, which is beautifully made I think. All the best Jenni, keep up and running, you are great at this :-)

Another refreshing video by Jenni Elle. The Nomos Club Neomatik, regardless of it's 200 WR, is without doubt more of a dress watch than a dive watch; no rotating timing bezel, a fully polished case, a fabric strap. On every other front however it is tastefully well designed, but as you said, lacks a proper power reserve movement. Two things could have been mentioned, lume & approx. list price.

First of all the most obvious feature missing here the bezel. But even more important : the fully polish case. This must be a real nightmare taking this watch outside, especially under direct sunlight. If you go even only swimming with that watch you’ll be blind at the first glance.

A very good looking watch. With the WR, great as an all rounder I think. One that is good for the beach, pool or lake, casual, going out, even a bit more dressed up. I would still be cautious of taking such an expensive watch into the water though! Wouldn't want it to get scratched up. I'm sure you can take it on a dive (using a dive computer), but probably not really a dive watch. But here's me with a Citizen Aqualand Promaster Dive watch which I use for the exact situation you describe: tough watch for holidays, weekend knock around, jumping into water and pools...and it doesn't even care. Apparently real divers like them as well lol

Only in the 90s they used the brand with commercial purposes, and for the upgrade market. They are decorative items, luxury items, nice and all that dandy, but not reallly contemporary dive watches. Dear Jennie, can you do a review on Botta-Design watches? Specially Botta Calvius black edition. It would be great hearing your thoughts on the brand and its design. Thank you so much.

I had a Club 701 but got rid of it because the lugs looked too long. I wish Nomos made more watches with the proportions of the Minimatik.

Sinn 104 and 556 are both 200m water resistant. Excellent non-dive style watches that could be taken diving.

I have seen variation on the numeral colour for this watch (740) from light blue to a darker blue. Is this common?

Sadly it looks like this watch is already discontinued and it's "replacement" (club campus Neomatik 39?) is not as good looking :(

Nomos have been clever in marketing this as a 'Dive Watch' because the controversy such a depiction causes, is a _lot_ of free publicity
doesn't hurt that it's gorgeous, either

I have been looking at this watch such a wild thing to think about 200m water resistant but no screw threads Hans Wilsdorf is turning in his grave. Lol

I almost bought this watch a few months ago but had to back out as needed to use the money for sometime else but it’s still the watch I look at all the time and dream about owning. Hopefully one day soon. Loved the video!

Super Uhrenvorstellung! Nachdem sie nun die perfekte Uhr für meine Frau wäre und scheinbar discontinued ist, weißt Du, ob wir nur falsch suchen oder es eine schöne, ähnliche Alternative gäbe? Viele Grüße!
