i just started a few days ago and is just starting to know pumping to gain speed. But i'm only skating in my hall ( i live in an apartment 24 stories up) and the hall is pretty narrow. Any idea on how to U-turn sharply but not killing all the speed ?

I see you with the broom... makes me wonder... have you tried a hockey stick and a puck on free skates?... I mean, I have never seen free skate hockey... now that would be ace. Maybe just like a one v one match, small pitch or get mattie and jeff and do a two v two.

We've heard of it being done but never tried it ourselves! Would be an interesting video to make :)

Hello, JMK! I’m a huge fan and I watch your channel all the time! I purchased a pair of free skates 2 weeks ago and have been practicing.
I can push off a pole and balance the whole way and *sort of* pump! However, there are one or two thing I would love to know:
1- When I push off without the pole, I can never get enough energy to pump, why?
2- When I pump, I feel like when I am doing the “toes in” part, my toes don’t go all the way in, making me fall.
That’s all I have for now. Take your time to respond and thank you!❤

The pole is probably giving you a lot more speed to work with, from what it sounds like! Hills are your friend, so when you're learning the pumping motion, try to avoid flat ground at the start. Once you feel you're adding to your speed by pumping, transition to flat and see if you can replicate the momentum!
For that second question, it's totally normal for one position to be more comfortable than the other. It might just be a matter of reps over time! As for practical tips, maybe focus on small motions. So if you can only point your toes in a bit, try and limit your 'toes out' position to a very small stride. The point is, as long as both strides are even, it'll be easier to practice in the beginning since your weight won't be as thrown off. As you get a bit more comfortable over time, try and widen your strides bit by bit, and hopefully your 'toes in' position will start to improve. Hope that's helpful in some way!
